While GLEE’s a great gig to have, new cast member Dean Geyer (who plays Rachel’s potential love interest, Brody) quickly learned one lesson — Finn and Rachel fans are massively passionate about their favorite duo.

I sat down with Geyer and fellow newbie Becca Tobin (who plays new Cheerio, Kitty), and he explained some of the reactions he’s gotten since he joined the show, plus the duo talked about singing (and dancing) in upcoming episodes, and more!

We’re just one day away from the GLEE season premiere. Are you excited? (And you’ve read Kath’s teases on the hour, yes?)

While much has been said about the split between New York and McKinley and the status of the graduating seniors, there are a few newbies heading our way and unsurprisingly, they’re massively talented. (If you haven’t heard the song previews, just wait until you hear these guys belt it out. We have some great new singers.)

THE X FACTOR: Simon Cowell on His Season 1 Lessons, the Season 2 Format Shift, the Addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, and More

Comments Off on THE X FACTOR: Simon Cowell on His Season 1 Lessons, the Season 2 Format Shift, the Addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, and More

THE X FACTOR kicks off its new season tonight, and things are going to be pretty drastically different. Not only are season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger gone (with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato taking their place), but without an announced host, the show was forced to make some fundamental format shifts.

When I sat down with THE X FACTOR judge/producer Simon Cowell earlier this week, he was open about the necessary changes the show underwent between seasons. “We were kind of forced to make the show which I’d always planned to make — which is it has to look completely different from last year,” he told me in the video below. “It has look completely different from every other show. And [the show] has to be told…through the contestants’ eyes, rather than the producers or the judges, which is the traditional way of making one of these shows.”

Take a look at more of our interview, including his praising of the “fearless” Britney Spears, the lessons he’s learned, and more…

X FACTOR versus THE VOICE. Which singing competition series has your attention tonight at 8 PM?

Or perhaps you’ll be tuning into something else? Take a look at your other options…

The Voice | 8pm on NBC | Special Night
“Blind Auditions Premiere, Part 3”
Carson Daly (“Last Call with Carson Daly”) hosts week two of the vocal competition series, featuring an exciting array of talented vocalists as they compete to be selected by one of the coaches and fight for a chance at an opportunity to win the title of being named “The Voice.” Coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton continue building their teams. Christina Milian (“Be Cool”) serves as Social Media Correspondent.

The X Factor | 8pm on Fox | Season Premiere
“Auditions #1”
THE X FACTOR’s Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are joined by new judges global pop icon Britney Spears and multi-talented artist Demi Lovato as they travel the nation searching for undiscovered talent 12 years old or over – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are worthy of the largest prize in television history: a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music.

Oh Sit! | 8pm on The CW
“Episode 107”
In this fun, high-stakes, high-octane musical chairs competition, 12 thrill-seeking daredevils race head-to-head through five physically demanding, chair-splitting obstacle course-style eliminations as they each compete to claim a chair – all to the sounds of a live band. At the end of the hour, only one contestant will be left sitting triumphant to seize the cash prize and the title of OH SIT! champion. The show is hosted by Jamie Kennedy (“The Ghost Whisperer”) and actress/television host Jessi Cruickshank (“MTV Live”). Adding to the fun, Tanika Ray (“Extra”) will be in the trenches with the contestants both on and off the track, and will add color commentary from the sidelines as the action unfolds. The musical guest is Stu Stone (“Breathe”).

So much more. Keep reading… Read more
