FRINGE Exclusive: J.H. Wyman Shares Episode 7’s Title
October 15, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
In case you’ve doubted the usefulness of Twitter, clearly you’re not following FRINGE showrunner J.H. Wyman. Earlier today, he tweeted out the episode title for the sixth hour of the final season (“Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There,” in case you missed that nugget), so when he and I got on the phone this afternoon, I couldn’t resist asking what episode seven would be called.
“The title is going to be very mysterious,” Wyman teased. “But it’s called ‘52010.’”
And while in theory it’s mysterious, it’s not unfamiliar to hardcore FRINGE fans — the number was not only used in “Jacksonville,” but it was one of the codes Walter used in Massive Dynamic in “Letters of Transit.” In fact, in my recap for 4×19, I wrote: “Did anyone notice the number they used to key into the facility? “052010″…Walter used that combination in ‘Jacksonville.’ I literally cannot tell you why those numbers stuck in my head, but we have no context as to why those are important, do we? It’s been driving me crazy that I somehow remembered those numbers two years later but I have no idea if they mean anything more. (I think at the time, I speculated it might have something to do with the finale date.)”
Looks like we may finally find out what the deal is in episode 7…
Tell me, do you have any good “52010” theories?
(And be on the look out for more from my chat with Wyman, because he had some juicy teases of what’s to come.)
FRINGE airs Fridays at 9 PM on Fox.

Terrific little write up. I missed that somehow today via Twitter. Thanks for the info. I just want to mention though I did not recall the numbers exactly, I do recall that Walter said in “Jacksonville” that it was code “Belly” (William Bell) used for everything, though Walter could not remember its significance. FYI Thanks for the article.
Perhaps it will reveal that Walter was behind Trevor Donovan’s 40-year-old-as-a-high-schooler casting on 90210.
Since 52010 is the combination Bell uses for everything, I’m guessing this episode will deal with the storage facility that they need his handprint to access. I can’t wait to find out what’s in there!
@Shane S. LOL. Poor 90210 😉
I’d always assumed the 052010 was used in Jacksonville because the season 2 finale was airing on May 20 ’10, and it was just a hint at that. Guess I was wrong.
So, “Through the Looking Glass…” IS the title of episode 6. I thouht I read that. I’d forgotten about 052010, but I knew it was familiar. Can’t wait for everything to come together, though I wish time would stop so the end of this incredible show never comes.
52010, can be anything, it could be … oh no … But moving a “little” with my imagination, the 5 of that number, I think it could mean the members of the current team Fringe (Walter, Olivia, Peter, Etta, and Astrid), and 2010 could be the year of a hypothetical “their return to the past “, that this team could start to defeat the Observers before they realize the invasion in 2012, with Olivia Peter with little Etta, in the park. Or … I have no idea.
I am loving the ideas posted here. I had not realised the possible significance with these numbers. I have to say though, that I especially like Zepp’s theory.
@Zepp I like your idea about their return to the past!
Zipcode. Maybe that’s the location of the next clue.
Designation for chlorphenamine. Perhaps it will be used to rid earth of the Observers.
5-2010:
What is the Fifth Episode which showed in 2010?
Jacksonville? No way!
Maybe it’s about getting back to 2010 or something about the glyph of that episode (Reveal)
