ARROW: David Ramsey Previews Oliver’s Brush with the Law
November 7, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
As if Oliver Queen hasn’t had enough problems in his life recently, in tonight’s episode, he is dealt another blow: an arrest for murder.
For Oliver’s bodyguard/companion, Diggle, he’s left scrambling after his boss gets in trouble.
“My [character’s] reaction to that at first is, ‘How do we handle this?'” David Ramsey (Diggle) told me of his character’s reaction to the arrest. “‘What we need to do is clear your name as quickly as possible.'”
But his concern isn’t exactly shared by Oliver.
“Oliver’s reaction to that is, ‘Let’s continue with the mission,'” Ramsey laughed. “Naturally. These types of challenges and these types of sensibility, where, let’s do something practical and Oliver’s sensibility of let’s do something with the mission, you see these types of elements clash sometimes between Diggle and Oliver. Even though they’re partners. And sometimes it annoys Oliver, but Oliver needs to always think — and rethink — about some of this stuff. And he doesn’t always think about the benefit — sometimes — and he comes to realize it.”
And if you were concerned that perhaps Oliver had gotten himself into a situation he wouldn’t quite be able to get out of, it sure seems Mr. Queen may have an ace up his sleeve.
“We realize through that episode that Oliver is smarter than anyone thinks,” Ramsey teased. “He’s always thinking 10 steps ahead.”
Hmm…
