Comments Off on SUBURGATORY: Jane Levy Teases the Return of Tessa’s Mother
For SUBURGATORY’s Tessa, her long-absent mother has been a cloud that’s hung over the series (and her life) for a bit, but on tonight’s Thanksgiving-themed episode, she is finally reunited with her mom, Alex (played by Malin Akerman).
“It’s really strange, I don’t know how to describe it in words, what the reunion’s like or what she’s feeling,” Jane Levy (Tessa) told me. “I think she doesn’t know what to feel; it’s so big, she can’t really feel it all just yet, you know? I think when you see the episode, it will explain it better than any way I could do with words. It’s heavy stuff for a half-hour comedy.”
But don’t worry — SUBURGATORY isn’t going too dark.

BONES Recap: ‘The Patriot in Purgatory’
November 12, 2012 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Patriot in Purgatory”? There was so much passion poured into the ep — from the writing and acting to the setting and score, and it really worked. When any show’s episode is driven by a definite plot (vs. character), it risks pushing the characters into the plot’s mold. This episode, centered around 9/11, straddled that line, and also tugged at the heartstrings. I loved this episode; veterans affairs is one of my passions, and I was moved to tears many times. But the show wanted that to happen, using tearful soliloquies and swelling music. Sometimes I resent that sort of deliberate emotionalism, but BONES has a way of keeping manipulation at bay with a mostly fresh take and an underlying genuineness, and major kudos to the actors for that.
Let’s discuss!

I feel like it was the longest wait of my entire life [on stage as they were announcing finalists]. I was super excited to be there.”

Thanks in part to Booth’s military background, BONES is no stranger to stories about vets and what happens when they come home. But this Monday’s episode, “The Patriot in Purgatory,” dives deeper to the subject than ever, while also touching on the subject of 9/11 and what that horrific event meant to the characters we know and love.
