RAISING HOPE: Greg Garcia Teases ‘The Last Christmas’
December 11, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
RAISING HOPE hasn’t shied away from doing outrageous holiday episodes, and tonight’s Christmas installment seems like it will join the ranks of that infamy.
“I wrote and directed that one,” RAISING HOPE creator Greg Garcia said of tonight’s episode. “It was a fun episode. I enjoyed it very much. We find out that Martha [Plimpton]’s character [Virginia] has been planning over the last two to three years for the end of the world, which she thinks is going to be on December 21st — based on the Mayan calendar.”
Yep. Virgina’s convinced the world in ending in a few short weeks, so you can imagine the kinds of shenanigans she’ll be getting into during “The Last Christmas.”
“She’s not only planning for the end of the world, but she wants to celebrate Christmas early,” Garcia teased. “Because on Christmas, there’s going to be too much fucking mayhem going on in the world [if the end of the world starts four days earlier].”
Oh, I cannot wait.
RAISING HOPE airs Tuesdays at 8 PM on Fox.

Raising Hope is such a charming sitcom, I’m glad to see them do a holiday episode. I saw the promo with Maw Maw and Sabrina fighting and the whole family in holiday pajamas; it looked great. I missed last night’s episode though working late at DISH. I have waiting for me on my DISH Hopper though thanks to PrimeTime Anytime. It will automatically record the four major networks during prime time. I can catch every episode without having to remember to set a bunch of show timers. I can’t wait to see what I missed, and I hope the show is renewed for a third season.
