HAPPY ENDINGS is Back Tonight! The Cast Teases Romance and Will James Wolk Return?

October 23, 2012 by

You’ve read my pleas on Twitter. You’ve listened to me beg on The TV Talk Podcast. Now it’s time to take action. Tonight you must (and I mean must) turn to ABC at 9/8c and watch HAPPY ENDINGS. This show is one of the brightest spots on my TV schedule and if you give it a shot, I know it will immediately be appointment TV for you, too. I’d offer you some kind of money back guarantee but we all know that’s not going to happen, so you’re just going to have to trust me on this one.

It’s going to be so ‘Ah-MAH’zing’ (sorry couldn’t resist) to have Jane, Brad, Dave, Alex, Penny and Max back on my TV. I had the chance to watch tonight’s season premiere as well as episode 2 of the new season and both are eps are laugh out loud funny. (Honestly, laugh out loud…with no one else watching with you, to be that’s the sign of some seriously funny stuff.)

At last week’s Season 3 premiere screening, GIVE ME MY REMOTE caught up with the some of the cast as well as Executive Producers Jonathan Groff and Josh Bycel, to talk about what’s new for this season of HAPPY ENDINGS. In addition to the totes wack ants (that would be totally wacky antics for those of you who don’t talk HAPPY ENDINGS*), this season romance will be explored in a new way and we get to see if and how it changes the finely balanced group dynamic.

“The end of last season we left a lot on the table. Dave and Alex exploring a relationship, Brad being out of work, Penny possibly having feelings for Dave. And now this season we get to explore all those storylines,” says Groff. “The audience has never really seen Dave and Alex as a couple. We’re going to see Penny for the first time in a serious relationship [with Nick Zano]. How Brad and Jane function with Brad out of work and Jane in a new job. So I think we mapped out more of an arc this season than in seasons past.”

FRINGE: Joshua Jackson Teases ‘A Pretty Major Shift’ For Peter

In case the week off from FRINGE dulled your enthusiasm for the show’s final year, take note: this week’s episode is a pretty big hour.

“[FRINGE showrunner] Joel [Wyman] has talked — at least with us, I think also in the press — about treating this season as sort of a three-act show,” FRINGE star Joshua Jackson shared with reporters on set last month. “So [episodes] 1 through 4 are our first act. Then something big happens at the end of 4, which launches us into the second half or the second piece [of the story]…which takes one of our characters into a direction that people, I think, will probably be pretty excited about, but is not good for that character.”

And for Jackson, he’s finding that knowing where things are going has helped him try to navigate the show’s sometimes tricky path.
