Get ready SUBURGATORY fans, we’re about to meet Tessa’s long-MIA mother — Warner Bros. confirms that CHILDRENS HOSPITAL’s Malin Akerman has landed the much-discussed role of Alex. (EW and TVLine first broke the casting news.)
When I spoke with SUBURGATORY creator Emily Kapnek last month, she shared that were already big plans for the role of Tessa’s mother in the upcoming second season.
“She’s going to be in the Thanksgiving episode and the Christmas episode,” she told me. “I think Tessa wants to spend the holidays getting to know her mom and it becomes a little more complicated than she anticipated, being away from George and all of their traditions, and feeling a little homesick for Chatswin.”
And, of course, when they went about casting this pivotal role, there were a few things they were specifically looking for.

It seems like Ben Fox’s love life may be getting a little bit more complicated: Fox has confirmed that Linsday Sloane will guest star on an upcoming episode of the new comedy series, BEN AND KATE.
According to TVLine (who was first to report the casting), Sloane will play Louise, Ben’s (Nat Faxon) ex-girlfriend “who unexpectedly tracks him down now that he’s returned to town.”
GO ON: ALIAS’ Michael Vartan to Guest Star

As if I needed another reason to adore NBC’s new comedy series GO ON — a network rep has confirmed that former ALIAS star Michael Vartan will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of the show as a hockey player.
And it seems like I’m not the only one thrilled by this casting. Vartan, who is an avid hockey fan, tweeted, “Cameo on @MatthewPerry show “Go on” with @Jeremy_Roenick , getting paid to play hockey! #proathlete4aday!”
Given that Perry’s character, Ryan, is a radio sportscaster — who finds himself unwillingly in a support group following the death of his wife — here’s hoping that he and Vartan get to have a decent amount of interaction in the episode.
Vartan’s guest spot doesn’t have an air date yet, but we’ll be sure to update you when we find out more. In the meantime, GO ON has its timeslot premiere Tuesday, September 11th at 9 PM on NBC.
Are you excited to see Vartan on GO ON?

We have our top 8 dancers on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! It’s kind of crazy to think that we’re so close to naming the two contestants who will win this year, but there are only a few more eliminations to go before the season 9 winners are revealed.
But before these dancers can really think about taking it all, they have to survive next week.
I talked backstage with Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, Eliana Girard, Cole Horibe, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, Will Thomas, and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp about making it through this week, working with the all-stars, having to send Audrey Case and George Lawrence II home, and more…

GLEE: Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale Talk Season 4, Their ’90s Dream Songs, and More

Comments Off on GLEE: Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale Talk Season 4, Their ’90s Dream Songs, and More
GLEE’s New Directions may have finally won it all last season, but that just means the pressure has increased for this year’s crop of singers to live up to the hype. After all, it would stink for Artie, Tina, Brittany, Blaine, and Sam to not have the same success in their senior year that the recently-graduated students had.
But what do the actors hope happens for their characters as they gear up for graduation? Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) and Kevin McHale (Artie) sat down with reporters at Comic-Con and talked about getting to play seniors, what songs they’d want to sing (hint: ’90s!), and much more…
FRINGE’s John Noble: There Has to be a Resolution to Walter’s Actions
August 22, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
As much as many FRINGE fans adore Walter Bishop, the harsh reality is that his actions (in both timelines) laid the groundwork for much of the chaos and mass destruction we’ve seen play out over the past four seasons of the series.
“When we finally saw what Walter did 28 years ago, obviously borne out of love for his son, he as much as admitted he was willing to play God — risk what he understood to be potentially damaging two universes to save this boy,” former FRINGE showrunner Jeff Pinkner said last year. “We can all understand his choice. We would all make the same choice, we don’t have to support it and we’ve been witnessing…the consequences. Had we played that [“Peter”] episode first, Walter’s the big villain [of the show]. But because we know him and we love him and we see the consequences, we understand why he did it, suddenly it becomes an understandable act. And we’re telling a show about science — science is not good or bad. It’s the application of it that is good or bad and our storytelling is the same.”
And as we head into the final season of the Fox series, it would almost be fitting for that to come full-circle.

‘We Have Thoughts’ Vodcast: Danielle and Marisa Talk About the Disappointing Dramas

Comments Off on ‘We Have Thoughts’ Vodcast: Danielle and Marisa Talk About the Disappointing Dramas
As we inch closer to the new television season, there are inevitably some shows that are going to disappoint us. Does that mean they’re terrible shows? Not necessarily. But sometimes the promise of what could be makes what ends up on our television screens so disappointing.
Case in point, the three shows my friend Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I sat down to talk about in the latest edition of our vodcast, “We Have Thoughts.” Were these three shows disappointing? Absolutely. (Varying degrees of disappointment because I had different levels of expectation, but disappointing nonetheless.) Will I continue to watch them? Almost certainly. I hope they grow, I hope they prove me wrong and I hope to find myself in a position where I grow to love them.
So with that being said, here are the drama shows we’re a bit disappointed about for Fall 2012.
THE OFFICE Set to End with Season 9

The end is coming for our friends at Dunder Mifflin — executive producer Greg Daniels told reporters on a conference call earlier today that the upcoming ninth season will be the final year for THE OFFICE.
But just because THE OFFICE is concluding, that doesn’t mean we’re necessarily saying goodbye to all of these characters. One of the remaining episodes will be a backdoor pilot for the potential new THE OFFICE spinoff which is set to focus on Dwight and his family.
Are you sad THE OFFICE is coming to an end?
