In case you needed a little bit more nerd cred for The CW’s upcoming series, ARROW, it just got another major boost — the network has confirmed that TORCHWOOD’s John Barrowman has been cast in a recurring role.
But as for what character Barrowman will be playing in the series, your guess is as a good as mine. According to EW.com (who was first to report the news), the details are scarce beyond him being a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City.”
I’m not particularly familiar with the Green Arrow mythology, so does anyone have a good comic-related theory as to an established character he might be playing? Either way, I’m just excited we’re getting more Barrowman on our television screens!

Would You Like a FRINGE Movie?
August 15, 2012 by Marisa Roffman

We still have an entire 13-episode season of FRINGE to view before the series concludes, but ever since the notion of a FRINGE movie was brought up at Comic-Con, I can’t get the notion out of my mind…and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. (It’s worth noting that there is NOTHING official about a movie — there hasn’t been any indication that this is something that Warner Bros. is actively pursuing right now.)
Don’t get me wrong: if there’s a FRINGE movie, I’ll be in that theater. (Or if it’s a television movie, I’ll be on my couch.) Heck, odds are I’d be dragging my friends to a midnight showing. But there’s also something special about having a series contained just to television and letting the story have the conclusion it’s meant to have.
H. Jon Benjamin to Guest on SUBURGATORY! Creator Emily Kapnek Teases His Juicy Role

H. Jon Benjamin might very well be the busiest man in show business right now — not only does Benjamin have regular gigs voicing characters on Fox’s BOB’S BURGERS and FX’s ARCHER, but now he’s nabbed a guest spot on ABC’s SUBURGATORY as Dallas’ life coach, Tabitha. (And that’s pronounced Tibet-itha, naturally.)

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Mia Michaels on Having a Show Dedicated to Her Routines

Wednesday night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE is going to be a pretty special one for long-time fans of the series: the top 14 dancers will be tackling fan-favorite previously performed routines that were choreographed by Mia Michaels.
Given how many dancers point to Michaels and her work as being one of the things they’re most excited about experiencing once they reach the top 20, this week could be quite something, as they’ll have the chance to pay homage to the choreographer they admire and take part in some of the routines they’ve loved in the past.
To celebrate the occasion, I talked with Michaels between rehearsals about what viewers can expect from Wednesday’s episode, what routine she wishes had made the cut, what it means to her to have an episode dedicated to her work and more…

The new television season is fast approaching us! And with that joyous occasion means a ton of new shows coming our way — the good, the bad, the “I can’t believe I just wasted X number of minutes of my life watching that terrible piece of television.”
So how do you sort through all the chaos? Luckily for you, watching all of them is part of my job (OK, that’s lucky for me, too), so I already have some pretty strong thoughts about what I viewed, so I sat down with my friend Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) to talk about our favorite drama series that are coming your way in the fall…

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT Recruits LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT’s Kathryn Erbe For Guest Spot

For anyone missing LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, here’s some good news for you — NBC has confirmed that Kathryn Erbe will be reprising her role of Alexandra Eames for a guest spot on fellow L& O spinoff, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, this fall.
According to TVLine, Erbe’s Eames is currently working for a joint City/Federal Homeland Security Task Force, and “crosses paths with the SVU squad when their investigation of a sex trafficking ring uncovers a connection to terrorists.” (So it seems things have changed for her character a bit since CRIMINAL INTENT went off the air last year.)
While nothing is official about when Erbe’s episode will air, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT showrunner Warren Leight tweeted that he thinks it will be the season’s fourth hour (which is tentatively set to air October 17th).
Are you excited to see Eames on SVU?

Pretty Little Liars | 8pm on ABC Family

Hanna and Emily head out to the Kahn family cabin looking for clues linking Maya to the site, while Spencer does some snooping of her own on Noel. Could Noel have had a hand in this after all, or are he and Jenna just bluffing to send Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer down the wrong path? Meanwhile, Aria must deal with the aftermath of meeting Ezra’s mom and the information about Ezra’s past.

James Duff and Mary McDonnell on Shifting From THE CLOSER to MAJOR CRIMES

Comments Off on James Duff and Mary McDonnell on Shifting From THE CLOSER to MAJOR CRIMES
For THE CLOSER fans, tonight is going to be bittersweet — the long-running TNT series ends its run after seven years, but literally immediately after the finale ends, MAJOR CRIMES, THE CLOSER’s spinoff, debuts. And while the transition might seem natural — after all, THE CLOSER is going out on a high, only concluding because Kyra Sedgwick was ready to move on — THE CLOSER/MAJOR CRIMES creator James Duff told reporters that he wasn’t actually looking to spinoff Mary McDonnell’s Sharon Raydor when the idea was pitched to him.
“I never said [I wanted to make a spinoff],” Duff explained. “That was said to me by TNT, by [TNT’s president] Steve Koonin, the day after Kyra said she was going to leave. I was feeling sort of blue, but not unhappy. I was very proud of what we accomplished with THE CLOSER and I knew I was writing the ending. I was trying to absorb all of that and then I got a call out of the blue from Steve Koonin saying, ‘We’re going to spin off THE CLOSER to a new show and it’s going to star Mary McDonnell and it’s going to be called MAJOR CRIMES and everything is going to work out really well. We’ll bring the cast along, you’ll love it.’ He said everything right there in that [phone call].”
Of course, nothing can ever be that simple in show business.
RAISING HOPE Casts Jenny Slate For Season 3 Arc

Comments Off on RAISING HOPE Casts Jenny Slate For Season 3 Arc
This can’t bode well for the Chance family — Fox has confirmed that former SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE actress Jenny Slate has booked a multi-episode arc on RAISING HOPE as a social worker. According to TVLine (who was first to report the casting news), Slate’s Joan “checks in on little Hope’s living conditions.”
Given how last season of RAISING HOPE ended — Hope’s jailbird mother who was thought to have been executed in the first episode of the series was revealed to be alive and then fought for (and won) custody of Hope…before being killed off again — perhaps the Chances get custody back of Hope won’t be as simple as it could be?
Are you excited to see what Slate brings to the role?

THE VOICE: Mark Burnett, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Carson Daly Tease the Big Format Changes to the Series

We still have a month to go until THE VOICE returns for its third season, but it’s now official to say changes are coming to the series.
“We know that we go from Blind Auditions — tons of fun — to the Battles, which is where these coaches will narrow down their teams,” executive producer Mark Burnett told reporters Sunday night at a press conference. “This year, there’s much more at stake. When they have their Battles, they select one person to stay with them and one person to leave, the other coaches can buzz in and steal that person [that was eliminated]…It became incredible [to see this year], because there are people you’ve seen in the past and the question was in the press and public [that] someone went home that probably could have won another music show. In this case, the other judges can buzz in [to make sure they stay on the show].”

There’s a WILL & GRACE reunion coming to SMASH!
Sean Hayes — best known for his role of Jack McFarland on the NBC sitcom — has signed on to appear in the sophomore season of SMASH for a multi-episode arc, NBC announced in a press release. This news is delightful for several reasons: Hayes is no slouch in the musical department (he was nominated in for a Tony in 2011 as Best Actor in a Musical) and this potentially reunites him with his W&G costar Debra Messing, who is a series regular on SMASH.

As someone who is admittedly obsessed with good TV promos, I was more than a little horrified by NBC’s new campaign slogan for their comedies: “We (Peacock, AKA the NBC logo) Comedy.” I mean…what? And now, the network has taken it one step further.
The newest promo for the NBC comedies not only flaunts the slogan, but it pairs it with Katy Perry’s song, “Peacock.” So, um, yeah. I’m going to need you guys to watch the one minute promo and tell me whether you love it or hate it..
