CASTLE: Andrew Marlowe Teases ‘Scared to Death’
March 18, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
CASTLE’s last few episodes were pretty intense — before the mini-hiatus, the series aired a two-parter where Alexis was kidnapped and Castle’s father was finally introduced — but when the series returns tonight, things are a bit lighter.
“We’ve got a great, fun case where it looks like our killer has killed somebody from beyond the grave,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe teased. “And in a RING-like twist, there is a haunted video, which Castle winds up watching, and he ends up convinced he’s dying. So the clock’s ticking on him, [thinking] he has 48 hours to live, and trying to cross items off his bucket list.”
Of course, not everyone is as convinced of Castle’s upcoming demise as he is.
“Beckett’s trying to talk him down,” Marlowe noted. “So that’s a lot of fun.”
And if you’re a fan of the horror genre, Marlowe previewed that some of the more popular horror movie cliches will be touched on in “Scared to Death.”
“It’s great,” he said of the hour. “And Shalisha [Francis], who wrote [the episode], managed to get all of the horror tropes in and it’s a lot of fun: visiting the insane guy in the mental institution, going to the cabin in the woods. It’s all great.”

Interesting scoop; The Ring was pretty scary to me, so this is probably going to be a creepy episode of Castle. I’m still looking forward to seeing the episode though. I won’t be able to watch it live because I work late at DISH on Monday nights, but I’ll catch it on my DVR. My DISH Hopper auto-records Castle and everything else on ABC during primetime hours, so I won’t even have to worry about setting a timer.
