Fox is giving NEW GIRL a big vote of confidence: the Zooey Deschanel-led comedy will get the coveted post-Super Bowl slot in 2014.
“I think that show still has a lot of growth ahead of it,” Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Fox Broadcasting Company told reporters on a conference call this morning. “Comedy can go on for a long time. Love the show; particularly the second half of this season was really on fire. It’s a way to program our [Tuesday] night [comedy block]: give NEW GIRL a boost and give one of our new shows additional sampling, or a shot in the arm.”

When the new animated comedy, MURDER POLICE, debuts sometime in the midseason on Fox, it’ll be without one of the names originally attached to the series: a Fox rep confirms that Wilmer Valderrama is no longer a part of the show. (He’ll be replaced with FUTURAMA/FAMILY GUY voice actor Phil LaMarr.)

There’s life after cancellation for Jack Bauer: Fox announced (officially) today that 24 will be heading back to the network with a 12-hour event series as 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY.
“[The creative team realized that] 24 being compressed into two hours [for a movie] is not 24,” Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Fox Broadcasting Company said on a conference call earlier today.
However, when Fox announced their commitment to making limited-run series, the team had a lightbulb go off. “‘Why are we killing ourselves trying to crack a feature when this is the perfect form?'” Reilly said of their mindset.
