2013 Critics’ Choice Television Awards Announces Most Exciting New Series Honorees and Icon Award Recipient
June 3, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
The 2013 Critics’ Choice Awards nominations might have been announced a few weeks back, but there are still a few more people and shows they intend to honor.
Bob Newhart will receive the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Icon Award. Additionally, the committee has announced the six new shows that will be honored as the Most Exciting New Series…
- The Bridge – FX
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – ABC
- Masters of Sex – Showtime
- The Michael J. Fox Show – NBC
- Ray Donovan – Showtime
- Under the Dome – CBS
I don’t think there can be any real argument against awarding Newhart, but what do you think of the choices for Most Exciting New Series?

Um, how can we even answer that question when none of us (except critics) have even seen the pilots for these series?
And how can you even give out awards for “series” – wouldn’t “Most Exciting Pilot” be a better award name?
@Donna: Several of those pilots haven’t been released, so in theory, they’re going off the same info as you are. (I actually don’t know when these specific decisions were locked down — it’s possible they named the honorees pre-viewing any of the pilots.)
I find it ludicrous that you can have any award when no one has seen more than MAYBE a pilot screener.
Utterly laughable and ridiculous.
Seems like a pretty silly award, then…
OK, since they haven’t seen the pilots either, I WILL SPEAK!
Most Exciting Series Award goes to The Bridge, because all I know is that Diane Kruger is in it, and I might get to see Joshua Jackson during her publicity events.
Otherwise known as the “Who Do The Critics Most Want To Suck Up Most To” Award.
As others have already commented, that’s all kinds of pathetic to have an award based on a pilot episode, at most? Well done Critics Choice for giving me a laugh tonight.
