Dean/Cas in the crypt is one of the most brilliant intense moments I’ve seen in TV for a while, the acting of both Misha and Jensen is perfect, nobody else beat the chemistry these two have together.
Brennan’s proposal. Like OBVIOUSLY. SQUEAAAALLLLLL!!!!!
Brennan had never believed in marriage before. Heck, she never believed in love for that matter. So for her to come out and propose to Booth and say “I wanna spend the rest of my life with you” when she doesn’t believe in forever’s signifies something HUGE. This proposal shows us just how much she has grown as a character.
And yes, this was THE BEST and THE MOST ROMANTIC proposal I have EVER seen on tv. 😉
Dean and Cas, their profound love can conquer all, even break through mind-control
Sorry, Jenna, but Misha is nothing compared to Jared, and Sam is miles better than Castiel.
Every interaction between Dean and Castiel is pure gold, that scene in the crypt was a really poignant, powerful moment I haven’t seen anything so touching in a while 🙂
Sorry, “twilight”, but let the rest of the world vote whatever they want. Not because you think it’s better, it is. Thanks.
Dean and Castiel have absolutely nothing except the writers promoting their fanservicey garbage. And what is so “touching” about Dean getting his face bashed in by a way more powerful creature?
If you consider they have “nothing except fanservicey garbage” then stop talking about them and focus on the stuff you like. Thanks.
You know twilight, pleasing the fans is sorta what people in the entertainment business try to do…
Dean and Castiel are awesome and that scene IS beautiful.
Why do people have to be hateful? If you don’t like the Dean/Cas scene, DON’T VOTE FOR IT. It’s that simple. There’s no need to be a jerk.
Alright twilight I’m just saying, but remember the last touching moment when Dean got his face bashed by a way more powerful creature? Oh yeah, when he was trying to break through to his brother who was being controlled by Lucifer. It was one of the most touching and emotional scenes on the show, just like this one with Dean and Cas was. Stop trying to pick fights and let people vote what the want to vote for and love characters they want to love. I personally all three (J2M) of them did an amazing job in the last episode.
The Dean/Cas scene was not beautiful because Dean was getting his face bashed in… it was beautiful because we finally saw Dean admit how much he cared for Cas. And it worked. Cas was under some severe mind control, but Dean managed to break through that control because of the bond– romantic or not –they share.
Dean and Cas and the profound bond forever! “We’re family. We need you…I need you” I pity those who can’t see such a deep love, so much that a simple human can reach to such a powerful creature that’s being mind-controlled and break the connection.
I was hoping that when Castle and Beckett got engaged that it’d be a moment of uncomplicated happiness for them. Instead, Beckett is in a really difficult position. I don’t know if I want her to say “yes” under the circumstances.
(Also, I would have preferred that Beckett’s “I love you” not have happened in a clip show, but that’s just me.)
The Sam/Dean moment in the finale didn’t show us anything new about their relationship, I found it rather disappointing. I thought Sam’s “light at the end of the tunnel” speech to Dean from earlier in the season was a far better moment.
The scene with Dean and Cas in the crypt was tense and gripping. I was rooting for Cas to break through Naiomi’s control, and it was very satisfying when he did. So my vote goes to that moment.
Wow, I can’t decide between the crypt scene and the brothers’ scene. As a Sam fan, I want to go with the brother one… but as a Dean/Cas fan, I want to go with the crypt. I think I’m going to go with the brothers one because Jared Padalecki’s acting brought me to tears! Either way, we should stop the comments drama. People are fans of what they like, no need to force someone out of or into a shitty opinion. Let people enjoy what they want without tone policing?
Definitely the scene with Dean and Castiel. It had been great to watch their friendship grow over the past years Misha has been on Supernatural. Sure, there have been moments where things were looking pretty bad for the two. But this scene showed us how much Dean does care for Cas and need his friend by his side. Angel powers or not. Dean isn’t one to express his feelings to anyone, with the exception of Sam (hence why I did not vote for the Sam and Dean scene, because we have already had many scenes like this). We have had so few intense scenes like this with Dean and Castiel. Dean has said that Cas is his best friend, yet recently we have not had many scenes with those two together. We have scenes all the time of Dean and Sam, just look back at seasons 1-3 before Castiel was on the show. This scene was very important and I think it should win by far, as it is extremely important information about how much Castiel means to Dean, and not just because he has his “mojo”, and also because Dean has never opened up to anyone besides Sam or Bobby his entire life and now he has confided in Castiel.
The scene between Dean and Castiel was beautiful. The way Dean doesn’t fight/hurt Cas back is touching; and I think it says a lot about their relationship the fact that Dean broke the connection by telling Cas he needs him.
Jensen’s and Misha’s acting is brilliant!
Dean and Cas. Or Sam and Dean. Two of the moments I actually shed tears during SPN.
The crypt scene is unforgettable. Jensen and Misha were amazing. The fact that, even despite the violence, we could still see how much they honestly care for each other. Usually, that much blood and cringe-worthy violence would overpower any emotional aspect of a scene, but it was the emotional aspect that actually shined through. I can’t praise those two enough.
The Cas and Dean scene in the crypt was so heart stopping beautiful, they both struggle so much to not hurt each other and at the end Deans awesome speech broke the control that heaven had on Cas. It was incredible and amazing, Cas/Dean perfect harmony, I love their profound bound!!!
I’m a Castle fan too, but… Dean & Cas! <3
I absolutely adored the heart-to-heart between Sam and Dean. I love their relationship and love both characters (and actors) so very much. However, my favorite relationship in all of television is the profound bond between Dean and Castiel, and Castiel is my favorite television character (pretty much my favorite character and favorite actor ever).
This scene, in particular, between these two was so very powerful. Castiel had been made to kill thousands of fake “Deans”, over and over again until he could do it without batting an eyelash. Yet when it came time for him to actually kill the real Dean, when Naomi was screaming and ordering Castiel to kill Dean, Cas fought against it with everything that he could. The panic in his voice and on his face as he pleaded with Naomi, telling her that Dean is a good man and that he wouldn’t hurt Dean was heartbreaking and poignant, not to mention some insanely awesome acting by the gorgeous Misha Collins.
Naturally, the always amazing Jensen Ackles matched the brilliant acting step for step as Dean broke our hearts as he broke through Castiel’s programming by telling him that he is their family and they need him, Dean needs him. This is one scene that I never tire of watching and that always leaves me overwhelmed with feelings.
I thought the Dean/Cas Crypt scene in 8.17 was very moving and superbly acted about Jensen and Misha. Seeing Castiel struggle to overcome Naomi’s mind control and brainwashing to save his friend, and Dean not giving up on him, and baring his soul to him was one of the most moving scenes in the series to me. Supernatural is a great show in general. I’m proud the show has two entries in this category. 🙂
Cas has been through a lot, and through the last four (or six, it’s negotiable) years, Dean has been a sort of buoy – the raft that’s kept him afloat instead of sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
In the crypt scene, we see not only Dean hoping to save his own life, but to save his friend as well. We SEE him acting as this life-raft that he’s become for Cas, and that’s what makes it so wonderful.
Jensen and Misha always seem to put 110% into their acting, and this scene is double that. It’s because of the emotion behind the characters that it made me cry for roughly three hours straight. It’s because of that that I believe it should win this poll.
Dean and Cas all the way!!!
DDDEEEEEEESSSSSSTTTTTIIIIIIEEEEEELLLLLLL
DEAN AND CAS FOREVER
While I thought the Sam and Dean “Broment” in the season finale of SPN was absolutely breathtaking, with brilliant acting and a wonderful dialogue (and it made me cry like a baby) my vote goes to the Dean/Cas crypt scene.
The Broment was beautiful but added nothing new the brothers’ relationship: Throughout 8 seasons Dean and Sam have been each others’ priorities and soulmates.
Dean and Cas have maintained a strong bond despite being driven apart over and over again and their relationship was on very thin ice when the crypt scene happened- Dean knew something was wrong with Castiel, Castiel was brainwashed into killing Dean over and over again. But they managed to break through all that. Many people have doubted the strong bond those two share but this precise moment leaves no doubt about how much they value each other. Whether you consider their relationship a very strong friendship or of romantic nature, their profound bound became undeniable in that very scene.
Definitely Dean and Cas
Castiel may have been fixated on killing Dean, yet when the moment came, he couldn’t bring himself to do it because the two share a strong, profound bond! More than a friendship, maybe more than brothers. Dean trusted Cas to snap out of it, though beaten and battered, and he did. For him.
I loved the scene between Dean and Castiel in the crypt because it showed us how much Dean actually needs Castiel in his life. It’s amazing how the love between those two was strong enough to break this connection that was strongly controlled by Naomi. Heartbreaking and beautiful. One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen on tv. It definitely gets my vote. 🙂
People really over-hype that Dean and Castiel scene in the crypt. It was a cheap attempt to replicate and knock-off Dean breaking through to Sam in Swan Song, a moment that is probably the most memorable and important in the entire series. The Dean and Castiel scene was certainly well-acted, but it made me roll my eyes.
I’ve never brought their profound bond. Castiel betrays Sam and Dean time and time again and very rarely listens to them.
I will never understand why people can’t just vote for what they like on things like this without putting other stuff down.
Anyways, my vote goes to Dean and Castiel, of course. I loved the broment with Sam and Dean, as I love all their broments, but the scene with Dean and Cas in the crypt really blew me away. I love their profound bond so, so much.
It’s funny how these two users don’t vote Dean and Cas, and still dedicate their comments to talk about… Dean and Cas. My vote, OF COURSE, is for them!
Dean and Castiel all the way! What is really funny for me is that they made Meg Castiel’s “love interest” (HAHAHA) while he was willing to kill her and he couldn’t kill Dean.
The Dean n Sam scene was indeed hertbreaking, but we’ve had at least 2 of these every season. What transpired between Dean and Castiel was something that we have never seen anything similar before. Yes he bashed Dean’s face in, while at the same time trying to get his mind and body back. And it was what they have between them that got him to regain control, after training for months and killed over a thousand Deans and he still couldn’t kill the original. Yes he bashed his face in, but did you SEE how Cas touched him so he could heal him? Does something like that happen often between friends? Not to mention Dean’s speach; how he didnt fight Cas back, how brokenly he pleaded for Cas to remember him. How much he needs him.
And i should mention certain things that were said but got cut in the final release but i won’t. All others are enough.
aw, they’re all romantic <33
My vote goes to the Sam and Dean brotherly moment in Sacrifice, these two have been through so much and they are still going strong after eight seasons. I love their bromance.
I’m sorry but Dean and Cas have nothing on Sam and Dean. Its the difference between fan service and honest to goodness storytelling. The crypt scene in Goodbye Stranger was a cheap knock off of Swan Song, we all know it. In Swan Song and Sacrifice Sam and Dean are given powerful scenes that have episodes and seasons of build up. Sorry but SPN will always be about Sam and Dean, while others, including Cas, come and go.
Definitely voting for Sam and Dean! The scene in the crypt was beautiful, intense and emotional–everything a certain stilted, wooden ripoff wasn’t and could never hope to be.
The Sam and Dean scene was by far the best moment for me this season!
The Dean/Cas scene was a retread of the Swan Song episode where this exact same scenario plays out between Sam and Dean. I can’t forgive the writers for repeating a scene that was so memorable to brothers fans from Season 5. It was insulting to say the least.
I voted for the Dean/Sam moment. We’ve waited 8 years for that scene to finally play out. Jensen and Jared’s performance was breathtaking. All the pent up emotion their characters had been holding on to for so long, was portrayed beautifully. I don’t cry easy at scenes on television or in movies, but these two had me in tears, again. Their chemistry is so perfect, so fluid. It has been for the past 8 seasons and will continue to be so for the duration of this incredible show. That scene was origional, well written and incredibly well acted.
I vote CLEARLY Sam and Dean, FINALE, Sacrifice! It was a beautiful moment, restored my hope to see the brotherly bond in full force again, no matter how often other guest characters reappear.
I am still wary that this scene between Sam and Dean doesn’t continue, their relationship not seen as important as it once was by writers and TPTB, I am a little cautious…still!
I vote only once and I don’t have a system that will make me able to force my will on this poll like others are probably able to! I don’t!
I hope TPTB realize that that powerful brotherhood of Sam and Dean is the reason people are connected to SPN! People who doesn’t go online and chase every freaking poll down for their ship!
Also …I won’t read the comments here! Bye! Have a nice day!
Wow, TWO scenes from the Supernatural season finale, what a strong message for the show! Very hard to choose between them, I wish I could vote for both! But my vote has to go to the crypt scene with Dean and Cas, because it was such a game changer. The emotions that Dean showed and the words he said to Cas, as well as the depth of emotion that was demonstrated when Cas managed to break Naomi’s control and put Dean ahead of absolutely everything, even his home (Heaven) and his family (angels)… Their relationship runs deeper than anyone expected, and there’s no telling where it will go.
Sam and Dean Broment in finale was the most heartbreaking and beautiful scene in the whole season 8 ! And Jared Padalecki did a brilliant job to make it memorable ! I Vote for Sam and Dean Heart to Heart moment !
The Dean/Cas scene in the crypt. Their love for one another is like a burning star, pure and invincible. It can even break through mind control.
I’m just curious, how many here are over 21 and how many are well under 21? I’m wondering what the age group breakdown is.
I choose the Sam and Dean moment in the finale because once again Jared and Jensen showed us what amazing chemistry they have together. Jared just was phenomenal in that moment confessing to Dean and Dean telling Sam that he would never choose anyone over him was just perfect. The whole Dean/Cas scene in the crypt reminded me too much of Sam and Dean’s Swan Song moment which can never be beat. Jensen has way better acting chemistry with Jared then Misha. My vote goes to Sam and Dean!
Sorry, kids – the scene with Dean/Cas is a total rip off of Swan Song. Stop trying to turn water into wine and make Destiel canon. It isn’t.
Sam and Dean’s heart-to-heart is the hands down winner here.
Lol. for people who claim that Sam and Dean’s relationship is undoubtedly superior, the haters sure don’t seem to really believe that if they are threatened by every friendship and any kind of positive relationship the boys have with other people. Dean and Cas fans on the other hand seem perfectly content with what they’re getting and are happy to love both the brotherly bond and the friendship (with obvious romantic undertones) between Cas and Dean. I think it’s fairly obvious who has a better grip on how the real world works.
I voted for Sam and Dean, because it was the better written and better acted scene, with the best chemistry.
Sam and Dean have a real relationship, and it is the core and basis for the show. And actually, we don’t get scenes like this very much, where Sam talks about his own feelings to Dean. Sam almost never talks about his own suffering, ever. And Dean does not always let Sam talk, either. This was a rare and beautiful scene, and it shows how much the brothers mean to each other.
So basically we can also say that the Swan Song moment is a ripoff of the scene where John stopped killing Dean because of his love for Dean. Or when Bobby stabbed himself instead of Dean because of his love for Dean.
It’s about the performance and chemistry, not the originality of the scene.
When people say the scenes are all alike they are devaluing all the relationships involved.
Dean and Sam was about their childhood and everything they’d been through over the years. Dean and Cas was about Dean having enough faith in himself to break through to Cas.
Well the Dean and Cas scene was a attempt to repeat the scene in Swan Song but then the whole Dean and Cas relationship has been a attempt to mirror the Sam and Dean one.
I do not really believe in either relationship I feel Sam has been underminded too much within the brothers one however I am voting for the scene in Sacrific because it was not only outstanding in its acting esp from Jared and emotional intensity but it simply is the best scene .
The Swan Song scene was completely different from the scenes of John/Dean and Bobby/Dean. All 3 were completely different sets of circumstances and written in a way that make them unique to that particular corresponding episode. Yes, all 3 involved FAMILY members breaking through some form of control to keep from killing/hurting Dean. In that sense, the crypt scene is similar. Where it differs though is in HOW the crypt scene was written. The John and Bobby scenes had their own uniqueness and did not resemble each other (outside of resisting harming Dean). The crypt scene was written in context that mirrored the brother scene in Swan Song. How that scene played out and some of the imagery was very much in the same tone as Swan Song.
Sam and Dean for me.
@caseytiger5
It’s more as the scene was very similar to Swan Song. Maybe if it was done differently it could of been better. But it was already done better with Sam and Dean.
@Josh
I agree with that. Had the writers just put an ounce of effort into a little creativity and made that scene unique to that particular episode, there wouldn’t be an issue in the fandom. They wrote it WAY too similar to Swan Song.
SAM AND DEAN FINALE SCENE SAVED SEASON 8. THE CRYPT SCENE SHOULDNT EVEN BE ON THE SAME POLL. WHAT AN INSULT.
No, actually Swan Song and the Crypt scene were not about the same thing. Crypt scene had more in common with Dean snapping Bobby and John out of outside control, than it had with the Swan Song scene. The reasoning behind Dean’s action in those three scene vs. Swang Song is extremely different. With Cas, Bobby and John, Dean was trying to reach the people he loved. He didn’t want to lose them and risked his life to get those people to return to him. With Sam, it was different. He knew Sam wouldn’t come out of it alive. The reasoning behind his actions in that scene was to save the world but also, more importantly, to say goodbye and provide the comfort and love some needed to face the hardships that he was about to face in hell. Swan Song was about saying “Goodbye, I love you, be brave” while the crypt scene was Dean telling his friend “Come back to me, I love you and need you to be with me”. If you compare those scene with each other, then you don’t understand either one of the two
@n890
I understand both scenes, but thanks for the offer of clarity. Perhaps you missed when I said the context and imagery were similar? Both were in a graveyard (crytps are graves). Dean was beat down by both of them. Dean refused to leave both of them (though the wording was different, still the same context). Dean even had the same injuries. They’re different storylines (Luci for Sam, Tablet for Cas) but the context and imagery was very similar. I’m not saying they were exactly the same, just very similar. It’s those similarities that have quite a few in the fandom a little perturbed.
If you love Dean and Sam’s relationship, I’d guess you’ll also surely notice that Dean has a very different relationship with Sam than he has with Cas, which is pretty evident in anything that he does and that is shown in Supernatural. Both people are extremely important to him, he loves both very much even though in different ways, and one relationship doesn’t take away from the other. The rest is personal preference, of course, but personally I’ve never felt the need to diminish the brothers’ bond or the meaning and value of any scene between Dean and Sam just because I love the D/C relationship. I find it curious that some people, beyond their tastes, feel like they have to dismiss the crypt scene as unimportant simply to elevate Dean and Sam’s rapport.
Hands down the crypt scene between Dean and Cas. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking moment largely because of the development of their relationship thus far into the season but may I just say, Jensen Ackles killed me with those lines. The raw emotions in his voice, sstill get shivers. Really difficult choice though because Jared outdid himself in the finale, but D/C just riveted me in s8.
There were some visual similarities between the crypt scene in “Goodbye Stranger” and the cemetary scene in “Swan Song”, but those just served as a bit of a hat tip. It’s unsubstantial, surface-level stuff. There was also a significant difference in the way the two scenes were presented – the crypt scene alternated between Castiel’s point of view and Dean’s, while Swan Song only gave us Dean’s perspective (and that’s one of the things I liked about the “Goodbye Stranger” scene, that we get to see Cas’ anguish as it’s happening). And, as others have pointed out, the emotional significance of the two scenes is entirely different.
It seems to me that some fans get hung up on the unimportant similarities because they’d rather make it about Sam/Dean than appreciate the Dean/Cas of it.
@bakasara: You hit the nail on the head. I’ll never understand why Dean/Sam fans spend so much time trying to invalidate Dean and Castiel’s relationship, when it does not affect the Dean/Sam relationship in any way, shape, or form. They’re separate entities, so to speak, and should be treated as such. Why can’t we live in peace? I never see Destiel fans going around trying to bash Dean and Sam’s relationship as a means to elevate Dean and Cas’s. Why do you guys do this?
@ilovehowyouletmefall
You’re making assumptions about fans you don’t know. My posts were about the similarities between two scenes, not about character duos. I happen to like Cas. I just think the scene between the brothers was more personal and intense, imo.
However, for the record, fans who’ve been with the show from day 1 do make it more about the brothers. Fact of the matter is, while Cas is a solid mainstay character, the show is centered around the brothers (that’s per the show’s creator EK and the CW network). That’s not taking away from Cas by any means, it’s just the fact of the show itself.
It continues to baffle me how instead of celebrating Supernatual was featured with two scenes (grand!) there need to be insults towards one of those scenes for some.
I loved both scenes and they both brought something different. For Sam and Dean I felt it was a nuance, albeit a very important one, but I too thought that the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ speech was actually more interesting. Jared’s performance of Sam did leave me wrecked, and I could fully reconnect with Sam again which I find on occasion difficult to do so yes, I praise it. Why bring it down just because I didn’t vote for it?
I found the crypt scene very good because it was so important to the development of the relationship (nature of : I do not care) between Cas and Dean and in that sense it jumped up a level.
It’s just very hard to get a scene between Sam and Dean that is that loaded because yes, I believe it has already happened to its greatest magnitude in their phenomenal scene in Swan Song (but please, spn prove me wrong, I’d love that) That doesn’t mean that their re-connecting scenes are not important, just that they don’t shift my view that much or give me that much new input, which honestly, I do desire. Though I’m having high hopes for both relationships in S09.
The swan song comparison is defintily not a coincidence and pinning it purely on laziness of the writers is selling them short, though yes I can understand it would irk you if you are not a fan of Castiel.
I love Dean. I love Sam. I love Cas (and God so many more) why do people feel one bond takes away from the other? It is something I just cannot understand.
Sam & Dean never need validating for me. Cas & Dean don’t need validating for me personally either, but it is satisfactory to see it done so on the show with this beautiful scene, so yes, I voted for it.
DEAN AND CAS scene because it showed how much they care for each other. Swan song and Crypt scene are sooooo different.
There are other scenes where the people that Dean cared about were in mind control when they tried to hurt Dean like Bobby and his FATHER!
So people please with the dumb shit about crypt scene being like swan song scene. it makes you look kinda dumb sorry!
@Erica
I’ve seen plenty of destiel shippers bashing the Brothers, more specifically Sam. I have. I have logs upon logs of saved posts of extreme destiel shippers slamming Sam, slamming Jared, slamming Jensen when he says something about destiel they don’t like and slamming Dean. I have seen them harass the crap out of various writers, producers and directors about making their ship canon, irregardless of how the actors may feel about it. There are plenty of posted vids of extreme destiel shippers bombarding the actors (especially Jensen) with destiel questions, even after he’s asked that those questions not be asked. There’s even been attacks on Misha when he’s said something about destiel that the shippers don’t like. They have even gone after Jared for deflecting destiel questions from Jensen because he didn’t want to answer. I’ve seen and many have saved posts attacking Jensen’s wife.
Is this soley the extreme destiel shippers? no, it’s not. However, it’s a fact that these extreme shippers are the loudest, rudest and most bullyish of all the SPN shippers. The proof is all over the internet, from Youtube to twitter to oodles of saved posts by other fans. You think you get irritated? I get irritated by extreme shippers feigning innocence and not owning upto members of their shipping community behaving badly.
Can the Destiel haters stop talking about Destiel in every single comment of them?? Seriously, you’re really tiring. ENJOY YOUR THINGS without bashing the things you don’t like. It’s not that difficult. It only requires a little amount of maturity and self esteem.
Both scenes in Supernatural were terrible. It’s a terrible poorly written show with no consistency in plot or characterization. The finale was especially bad, they turned Sam out of the blue into a selfish whinny douche jealous of his own brother, for literally no reason except cheap drama. A complete 180 from when Sam took on the trials like a badass. And once again Sam and Dean said screw the world, we’re twats who care only about ourselves. This show isn’t about saving anyone, it’s just white guys crying about their mainpain and occasionally killing people. At least Castiel still did whatever he wanted after that completely queer baiting crypt scene (where he should have just taken the tablet and left, hello, moronic angel of the fucking lord; more cheap ass drama and gore for gore’s sake that will literally amount to zilch) without bitching about Dean’s opinion of him or worse, Dean having friends. That was just plain awful. Sam’s always turned into the villain on this freaking show, even when he should be the hero and it be about him, it gets focused on Dean. There’s nothing pretty and touching or worth rewatching in these scenes, it’s all drek.
Dean and Castiel, absolutely. The fact that it was Dean’s words alone that broke through the hold Naomi had on Castiel and helped him through it – that is incredible to me, a deeply powerful display of the bond that they share. And then, even when Dean thought it hadn’t worked, that Castiel was going to kill him…he still held on to his arm. There are no words to describe that kind of trust, that kind of love.
Oh look, somebody bashing Supernatural outright without just bashing Destiel. That’s new.
Seriously, though, the Dean and Cas scene in the crypt was amazing, profound, important, groundbreaking! We know Sam and Dean care about each other, we’ve had it reinforced every season, and quite frankly, even if that’s the core of the show, it doesn’t need to constantly be at the forefront. Whereas Dean and Cas have made so much progress this season, both as people and in their relationship to each other. I love the crypt scene in that it acknowledged this profound tie between these two people, who trust each other and have faith in each other after everything, because it’s meaningful and inspiring – and reinforces those ideas of love and loyalty which are the core of the show, both in Sam and Dean’s relationship and in that of Dean and Cas.
@ugh
Would you like some cheese with your whine? Go cry to someone who cares.
We’ll see how the Dean/Cas friendship is fairing at the start of season 9. Dean was still none too happy with Cas at season’s end. They’ve been through rough patches before but yikes, Dean was still pretty peeved.
I loved the Sam&Dean heart to heart in Sacrifice, because it resealed the bond between the brothers. But, I also felt slightly disappointed about it, because it reawakened my fear that that relationship might be once again reverted back into the old cycle it has been stuck in for seasons. As much as I like the interactions between the characters and the wonderful chemistry between Jared and Jensen, the whole brother relationship has an unhealthy tinge to it which I hope will disappear at some point.
On the other hand, I was a sobbing mess after the crypt scene between Dean and Castiel. More than anything I saw that scene as a tribute to how far both characters have come from their introduction on the show, Dean having learned to let others in his heart and to trust people not related by blood, and Castiel having become brave enough to stand up to heaven and to decide for himself which his true family is. It is also a tribute to their relationship, with the mirroring from Swan Song adding another emotional tinge on top and highlighting the similarities and differences in the two relationships most important to Dean.
What sealed the deal for me was Misha and Jensen’s beautiful performance, because it is thanks to them such a brutal scene managed to come off so emotionally charged.
For these reasons, my vote goes to Dean and Castiel’s scene. For season 9 my wish is that Team Free Will, this time all three together, will have quality moments like the sacrifice- and goodbye stranger-ones this season were.
@caseytiger5 whilst I’m sure you have to put up with a lot of rubbish from destiel shippers, it’s undeniable that on this poll it’s not the destiel shippers posting hate and getting angry.
For goodness sake… Supernatural fandom… aaargh. Why do we have to do this on every single poll, on every single article, in every single nook and cranny of the internet? Aren’t you tired of it? I am.
Lets just stop putting other people down, other ships down, other opinions down. Lets show each other a bit of decency and respect. Where is your honour? Are we nothing but apes throwing crap at each other? We’re better than that!
We *all* love Supernatural. We all love it for different reasons – and that’s okay!
I’ve watched from the beginning, season one episode one. I love Team Free Will, all three of them. Though my favourite is Castiel. Through the first four/five seasons my favourite was Sam. So I can see this from all angles. I am no less of a brothers fan than “the brothers fans”. The brotherly bond is just as important to me as the profound bond. Without it we wouldn’t have Supernatural. By the same token I really enjoy the profound bond and the more ensemble feel of Team Free Will.
If you enjoy just the brotherly bond, that’s fine 🙂
If you enjoy just the profound bond, that’s fine 🙂
(If you’re a Team Free Will-er *high five* 😉 )
Why is it so hard for us to accept this and get along? Although I guess it wouldn’t be the internet without people needlessly butting heads. Such is human nature I guess… I just thought we might be able to rise above it and unite behind a show that we all love.
@chis1, I assure you, as an old fan of the show, that finding a Destiel shipper hating on Sam is an unlikely event. On the other hand, is sadly recurrent to observe hateful comments about Castiel, Misha Collins, Dean and Cas relationship (friendship, romance, whatever) and even Dean alone coming from Sam/Dean fans, or shippers, or whatever. It’s really sad, in my opinion.
I have read every post and haven’t seen any blatant hate or anger. I’ve read post after post of personal opinions and civil disagreement. Everyone is entitled to post their opinions, even if some may not like it or agree with it. This thread is the most civil thread I’ve seen in awhile, actually.
The church scene between Sam and Dean, whoa!
Jared Padalecki totally deserved an Emmy (or Oscar, I’m not picky)
The crypt scene was the most powerful thing I’ve seen in a long time, and just goes to show that in the end, love conquers all. They both deserve so many awards just for that heartbreaking and completely beautiful performance!
@ugh
You seem upset. lol
http://compassionatesleepsolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/crying-aby-with-hands-on-head.jpg
Sam’s confession and Dean taking his little brother into his arms in the church. Boyfriend cried. That says enough.
I’ve seen a lot worse, that’s true. Lets call it the straw that’s broken the camel’s back, because I just came to vote and oh look… “brothers fans” putting down Cas/Dean stuff, and Cas/Dean fans getting defensive. Cuz you and I both know there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes, and I feel like I’m fighting a war here. A war I don’t want to fight, a war that shouldn’t be happening and one that can get mind numbingly petty and immature.
For every extreme Destiel shipper sending harassment there’s something like the campaign to get Misha fired… I could write chapter and verse on this, but I’m tired. Tired of all this, tired of fighting… (and tired because it’s half one in the morning x_x)
Let’s see… the scene that everybody was talking about, the scene that blew up twitter, the scene that started a EmmyForJared twitter campaign 5 minutes after the finale ended, the scene that articles for being written about WEEKS after the finale aired. Yeah, that scene. Sam and Dean’s heart to heart soul to soul talk in the church.
As Garth would say:
”Don’t hate”
~
From what I understand, the campaign to get Misha fired was instigated by a handful of extreme fans pretending to be fans of both brothers. It was a failed smear campaign. There are fans that behave badly throughout the entire fandom.
I’m all for having your favorite character(s) and enjoying shipping (though I don’t ship anyone). I’m also all for everyone getting along, it’s just a matter of mutual respect and class.
Oh man, this is just crazy. I’m an avid destiel shipper. And that scene was breathtaking. Misha and Jensen’s acting was superb. But wow, putting it up there with Jared’s and Jensen’s finale scene. I’m really at a total loss. All three of them were marvelous and it just hurts me to see that I even have to vote between those two. And to be honest, I’m not even sure I could vote.
As Crowley said “I can’t”
Still don’t see how the crypt scene was more similar to Swan Song than any earlier scenes. The Swan Song scene heavily focused on childhood memories, complete with toy soldiers that had never been mentioned before (or after). It was about Sam’s past as much as his bond with Dean. The crypt scene was all about Cas’ bond with Dean.
I’ve watched the show since the first season, specifically, the Bloody Mary episode, and I consider Cas/Dean/Sam to be the primary relationship on the show. I don’t watch for Sam and Dean. If I did I would have stopped in season 4, as the show gutted the relationship and never really repaired it.
Sometimes it’s a tough slog to not hate Sam or hate the Sam and Dean relationship when both of these are so often used to belittle or dismiss Cas, Misha, and Cas fans. But I don’t. I don’t hate Sam. I don’t hate the “brotherly bond”, especially when it’s written in a caring way and not a way that involves them tearing each other down. And I actually liked the finale scene with Sam and Dean. Yet, I know that unless I hate Cas, I will never be a ‘real’ fan. So be it.
Dean and Cas. Beautiful scene.
I did enjoy the Sam/Dean scene, but I think it didn’t make you read between the lines enough…..
I’m so sad that i had to choose between two AMAZING supernatural moments (but WOW does that say great things about this season), but in the end I had to go with Dean and Cas. Not only did Dean break through Castiel’s mind control, he also admitted that they were family and that he needed him. Great to see some emotional vulnerability from Dean on that front. Can’t wait for some reciprocation on that front from Cas next season!
I honestly hate shipping–please refer to some of the above comments to see why. I can’t ship anyone but canon couples. That being said, Cas and Dean have possibly the most unique and fascinating relationship on basic cable TV: an imperfect human and a fallen angel. The WInchesters are great, but unbreakable brotherly bonds are a dime a dozen (Ed and Al from Full Metal Alchemist, Peter and Nathan from Heroes, Don and Charlie from Numbers, I could go on). I don’t know what category Dean and Cas fall into, so I keep watching. It might be deep friendship, it might be brotherly camaraderie, but whatever it is, it’s amazing to watch as it evolves and grows in spite of everything.
@CaseyTiger5
I would just like to say that I, personally, have been watching the series since day one, and Castiel happens to be my favorite character. I also have no problem with Dean/Cas, either as friends or as a possible coupling, and I voted for the crypt scene here. So, perhaps you are also making assumptions about fans you do not know 😉
Of course, even if that wasn’t the case, it shouldn’t really matter, since when and why someone started watching a series has no bearing on how big of a fan they are, even if some people like to think otherwise.
*high fives Amynion and Peter J*
Cas and dean always
Dean and Castiel.
There are so many reasons, but the most beautiful is that they have the most realistic, natural build-up into romance I’ve ever seen. They met, they fought, they hesitated, they became allies, they found friendship, they found faith, they discovered pain, they lost each other, they found and refused to give up the other, they tumbled into love, need and… well, isn’t that the way life sometimes throws your partner at you?
They moved heaven, earth, hell and purgatory for each other. Show me a couple that even comes close to that kind of devotion. If love is power, theirs is a force to be reckoned with.
Dean and Cas scene in the crypt was, with difference, the most intense and powerful scene of s8. How it build up to that moment, the intensive training Naomi had to subject him until he was totally under her control and finally, after hundreds and hundreds of attempts he didn’t doubt in killing one of Dean’s replicas, and yet when he was in front of the real Dean he fought, confronted Naomi, something in his guts, in his heart telling him this wasn’t a fake Dean; and Dean with his love reached to him; it was the magic of true love. And the fact that Naomi had to train him to kill Dean, because as an angel she has the power to read what’s inside and understood how dangerous for her plans their profound love was. And the phenomenal talent and chemistry of Misha and Jensen made the moment even more powerful and magic. Both were superb, can’t wait to see them bright in s9 and give us more beautiful moments together.
As you all see, Destiel shippers are positive as always and Just Da Bruddas fans are bitching as always. Please don’t hate. On anyone. Especially not on Jared, Misha or Jensen, or any of the actors/writers/producers/etc. They are the people who make OUR (it’s not yours, darlings) wonderful. PS. I’ve never seen a Destiel/Misha fan hatig on Sam/Jared in my whole fucking life and I’ve been friggin living on Tumblr for half a year. I’ve seen them hating on Wincest, yes, but Wincest in my opinion is kind of disgusting.
Dean and Cas scene in the crypt was truly beautiful, I cried my eyes out. It really is the greatest love story ever told.
Sam and Dean of course. Jensen and Jared bring this show heart, soul and everything in between.
Why is that crypt scene even in the choices, it was embarrassing sloppy seconds from 522.
Sam and Dean have this one wrapped up.
Even Jensen said that crypt scene didn’t work for him. It didn’t work.
Sam and Deans finale scene was epic as their scenes always are. It brought the show to what it is really about. Jensen and Jared are truly amazing and have re-written the book about on screen chemistry. Thanks boys.
Ah one choice only Sam and Dean/Jared and Jensen. One in the same, true brothers. This is what made me watch Supernatural and these scenes between these two are what makes me boast about being a Supernatural fan.
The fact that there is a vote is funny to me, because their scenes are so far ahead of any other scene on the show or other shows its ridiculous. We had Sam and Dean wanting to sacrifice for each other, we have them talking to each other, heart to hearts, protecting each other and you put in a second rate Castiel scene that didn’t mean anything to the show. Thats puzzling.
Anyhow just hand it over to Sam and Dean because, really? Really? It would be embarrassing if it DIDN’T win j/s
Really……….. Sam/Dean fans…. can you stop commenting about Dean/Cas scene if you don’t like it and you didn’t vote for it?? You’re really boring, seriously boring. Talk about the things you like without spreading hate about the things you don’t. You look scared about something, if it’s not the impression you want to give, then change your way of action because it’s turning ridiculous. And PLEASE, don’t put in the mouth of the actors things they didn’t say. Don’t be infantile. Thanks.
Sam and Dean definitely. Their relationship is complex and amazing. The crypt scene was a pale, watered down, faded copy of the original Swan Song scene. I cringed it was so embarrassing.
The last message proves my point, JFC. They CANNOT STOP talking about the scene THEY ARE NOT VOTING. If it isn’t THAT IMPORTANT for the show why do you spend so much time talking about it?? Or it just mean the scene IS IN FACT important and you’re trying to minimize it (TRYING) by repeating messages here with the same grammar and sentences??
@Lucy, honey, when and where did Jensen said this? Because as a fan, you know, I tend to follow every single thing the actors say. I don’t recognize Jensen saying anythig like that. Vid or source or it didn’t happen.
It wonders me why Dean/Cas fans don’t cirticize the Sam/Dean scene even if they think it was weak. Hey, maybe because we’re human, not trolls.
Really loved the crypt scene. Jensen was really awesome in it. Misha was great too. Sam and Dean’s heart to heart was also good. Jared was great in it. I’m going to go with the crypt scene cos of Jensen’s brilliant acting in it.
Definitely the Dean and Cas crypt scene. Jensen and Misha were phenomenal in it and reading Robbie Thompson (the author) comments on twitter about how they enhanced and made that scene even more powerful. . . . it was one of the highlights of Season 8. I am so happy that Dean has told Cas how much he means to him. I adore their profound bond and hope they grow even closer in Season 9.
Do I smell fear in the bro!only camp? I believe I do.
Dean/Castiel for best scene because it was heartfelt, beautiful and a wonderful example of how much the two mean to each other; when the chips are down, when hope looks lost and nothing else has worked… the truth will win. Dean needs Castiel, just as much as Cas needs him. Their bond can break even the toughest of mind controls.
It’s marvellous to see Castiel back as a regular next season; so many people can’t wait for more of their relationship.
Have voted. Here’s to the winners: Dean and Cas.
I voted for the crypt scene, because for me it was one of the most painful, heart-breaking, yet powerful and emotionally intense scenes of the whole season. Plus the acting in it, especially Jensen’s, was superb.
I am excited that Supernatural has two scenes in this round of voting. That says a lot about how loved the show is. I voted when the poll first came up, but I don’t think it’s important for me to flout what I voted for. It’s my personal opinion on a show I’ve come to love and enjoy.
Every show listed is a good show, with strong characters and great writing. We wouldn’t watch or care otherwise. The fact that Supernatural happened to have two scenes just illustrates how dramatic and emotional the show is.
I think what has happened here is rather obvious. We each have certain characters that we identify with and love as if they were real. We protect them as we would our friends and since they cannot defend themselves to those that would deride them, we feel the need to do so. This is not wrong in and of itself. The very nature of fiction is to draw us in emotionally and hopefully make us think. What is wrong is attacking someone for their opinion. You will not change their mind by insulting them or the thing they love, just as you would only get more incensed if your favorite were attacked.
Outside of a few comments, this thread has been remarkably civil and as a newer fan I appreciate that. I love to see spirited dialog and discussion, not hate-filled rhetoric that does nothing but waste bandwidth. I enjoy reading why people loved a certain scene or felt it spoke to them. I even enjoy reading why some felt a certain scene did not work for them. I like to try and see things from every side. So please, continue your wonderful debate, but without the hateful language. It serves no purpose.
Dean and Cas crypt scene for me 🙂
Though Jared was phenomenal in the finale scene.
Dean and Cas all the way! The *real* Dean breaking through to Cas said it all about what he means to Cas. (Though Jared was stellar in the Dean-Sam scene).
Don’t pay attention to the losers who are incapable of appreciating a scene without talking down another.
Go Destiel fans 🙂
Dean and Cas without a doubt. It was raw, emotional, just beautiful. I’m in love with the Dean/Cas relationship.
Dean and Cas crypt scene was just too good. Both Jensen and Misha are amazing actors. The scene was really moving. Sam and Dean scene was also very moving and Jared was super good. But I’ve seen similar brotherly heart to heart scenes every season. The crypt scene was new. If I had two choices I would have voted for the Sam/Dean scene too cos of Jared. But since I can vote only once, my vote is for the crypt scene. Jensen, Misha and Jared are all awesome actors.
Jensen said the crypt scene was difficult to block in terms of filming (which is one of the reasons why he and Misha decided to have Cas cup Dean’s face instead of the old, more formal fingers to forehead) and was a difficult emotional scene. He also mentioned that he was in tears during the scene. He never said he didn’t like the scene. He wasn’t sure how the scene would come across to viewers because of the difficulty in filming it. He said this at one of the cons a few months ago.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched the crypt scene, but it still breaks my heart into pieces.
Dean and Cas deserve this. There is no room for argument. Sorry.
While the Sam and Dean and the Dean and Cas moments were well done and powerful, I did vote for the Dean and Cas scene. It was a breakthrough moment on many levels, and it took the Dean & Cas relationship to a different level. Also SPN will always have Sam & Dean at the center, that’s the show, and so I’m going to show my support for a relationship involving a supporting character who’s become as dear to me as the leads, and a relationship as meaningful to me as Sam & Dean’s.
It would be awesome if people who outright prefer Sam & Dean could cheer for their fave without putting down Dean & Cas and Dean & Cas fans. With so many fantastic characters and moments, why not celebrate that, rather than waste so much energy hating. Dean & Cas doesn’t take anything away from Sam & Dean, peace out.
I also agree with what others above have said–good on you SPN, having two scenes on the list!
Dean and Cas’ scene was amazing. It was beautiful, we could feel all the emotion … alll… I can’t even describe it. One of the best moments in Supernatural, in my opinion.
So, I loved all the other moments in this poll, but my vote goes for the boys and their relationship. Dean and Cas deserve this 🙂
I’m going to avoid all of the debating going on in the comments and just vote because that is what we are here for. I think this moment with Dean and Castiel was amazing! They brought it back full circle relating it to Swan’s Song and the love between Dean and Sam. Dean and Castiel don’t have to be purely romantic they can just be family and in Dean’s case that will always be more important
The Dean/Castiel moment was beyond amazing, it was BREATHTAKING!
It was one of those TV moments I wish I could relive for the first time, because it was so emotional, and raw, and true… Those two are beyond perfect for each other! 🙂
Eh, in one season I buy the “profound bond” between Dean and Benny and the emotion in their scenes over Dean and Cas friendship and their rip off of Swan Song scenes any day of the week. Dean/Cas shippers are just latching to the one scene because that’s probably the best they’ll get lol, it certainly doesn’t stand up to Sam/Dean in the finale or a plethora of other highly emotionally gripping scenes on the show over the years. Swan Song was the climax of over five years of the show and had a whole long beautiful montage of Sam’s memories with Dean and their shared history, but they’d still probably chose that wack Dean/Cas copy cat scene over anything no matter what scene it was up against. Oh well, “Don’t you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you.” <—- Dean's words says it all right there. Anyone else but Sam is just going to be a distant 2nd best to him, nothing compares to the epic love of Sam and Dean or Jared and Jensen's chemistry. They do have a whole fan community that even writes fanfic (yes most know they are married and it's not real) about those two which is a testament to their chemistry.
Breaking through to Cas was such an emotional scene!!!
“logs upon logs of saved posts of extreme destiel shippers slamming Sam, slamming Jared,”
I’m sorry, but you have ***saved*** all of this? Then you have a serious problem, sweetie.
@peter j do you know which con this is? i’d really love to see, because just reading that made me feel rather emotional.
scrolling through this thread is a bit of a minefield – it’s definitely a lot more civil than many, many polls and such that i’ve seen, for which i am definitely grateful. i can’t help but notice though, that most or all the comments that /are/ disparaging were made by brofans about d/c, which does make me feel a bit sick and a lot sad. it’s funny, skimming through all these comments and seeing d/c fans constantly stress how much they adore, appreciate and love the broments just as much as the d/c scenes; that they don’t hate sam/jared, that they’re in awe of the wonderful acting by j2m in both scenes, that they respect both relationships and simply prefer d/c for whichever reason makes the most sense of them. and it makes me sick to see the contrast of brofans beating down on the d/c scenes, calling it a “cheap knock off” and even twisting actors’ words in order to validate their own preference. just fucking compare it and see.
i’m not by any means saying all brofans are like this, or that all d/c shippers are totally reasonable – but this is what the public eye sees right here, and what i can gather from this is hate and insecurity from a vast majority of brofans that have commented so far. and it’s pretty damned ridiculous. if you have such strong faith that the bros’ relationship is all that’s keeping the show together, if it’s so “central” to you, then why do you feel the need to dismiss and belittle other relationships the bros have? surely you would be able to just ignore it, or at the very least show some goddamn respect and decency towards other opinions. for the record, i’m a massive fan of the brothers and their relationship – i can’t tell you how many times i’ve cried during their emotional scenes, including the one in this poll. swan song is still my favourite finale, despite how much i loved the s8 one as well. i place just as much value in their relationship as i do the d/c relationship, and i’m a pretty avid supporter of d/c. and you know what, even if i didn’t enjoy the bros’ relationship as much as i did, i wouldn’t be talking shit about their scenes to brofans because hi, common courtesy and decency /is a thing that exists./ i don’t think that’s such a hard concept to grasp, is it?
eugh, forgiveth the long rant, i’m a little frustrated and it makes me sad that this is even still an issue here, that this is a /polite/ comment thread. for me, the d/c scene won over the broment, but that doesn’t make their scene any less significant or wonderfully acted out. no matter what we prefer, we should always be respectful of other opinions and not put down others in order to support ourselves.
DEAN AND CASTIEL because they are beautiful together:)))) lots of love people! so please be positive:))
Brother fans are just pointing out how delusional it is to put other relationships in the same league as Sam and Dean. It’s clear they don’t watch the whole the show, they only pay attention when Caaas is on screen and disregard everything else. Sad. Most Destiel shippers even admit they skipped to season 4 and just jumped on the Dean/Cas bandwagon through tumblr.
It is indeed really hard to decide between the scene between Dean/Castiel and Sam/Dean because both scenes were beyond amazing.
But I give my vote to Dean and Castiel’s scene because I have to decide at some point and I think this scene was very important to both characters.
Gina, you’re losing the point here because nobody is saying Dean/Cas relationship is not in the same league as Sam/Dean. When Dean and Sam are BROTHERS (with a really interesting father/son vibe), Dean and Cas are (depending how you see them) best friends involved in a deep friendship or potential lovers. Don’t try to start wank here darling, comparing things that are not comparable.
I’ve been a devoted Supernatural fan since season one came on TV and the two scenes in this poll both brought me close to tears. Jensen and Jared were phenomenal in the finale scene, as they were in many other “brotherly” moments throughout the show- I love their bond and their sacrifices for each other- even so, I HAD to vote for the Dean/Cas scene in the crypt.
The development of Dean’s character from season one, up to this point in the show is absolutely amazing.. I almost cried during this scene. If you claim to have watched the series since episode one but you found this Dean/Cas moment to be “cheap” or “sloppy” – i don’t think you’re watching the same show! How could you care so much for the brothers but you can’t see the beautiful dynamic that Castiel’s character has brought to the show and their relationship..? (Team Free Will is what i’m hoping to see more of in the 9th season! I love the three together!)
I really wish the “solely Sam/Dean” fans would stop putting down the Dean/Cas scene. It’s incredibly childish that certain people feel that have to resort to insults to try to get their point across. Really, I’ve read through every single one of these comments and I don’t know that I saw a single Destiel fan outright bashing the brothers, just mentioning that the scene, while being moving, was just a rehash of every other heart-to-heart they’ve ever had.
I’m for Team Free Will. I love the three of them together and want that to be the show’s future, and while I do ship Destiel I don’t know that it would ever become canon for a multitude of reasons, so that’s not my focus. Brothers fans, please, recognise that this show would be dead by now if it weren’t for Cas. That’s the absolute truth, whether you like it or not. Don’t make this about shipping, make it about the significance of Dean being able to break through a barrier to tell someone that’s not family that he really, truly cares. Being a fan of the brothers, which Dean is one half of, you should be able to appreciate how immense that single “I need you” is.
Stop with all the hate. We’re all here for the same show. Be respectful, regardless of your feelings towards a ship.
And yes, while I did find the Sam/Dean moment to be moving (I cried like a baby for the final 15 minutes of Sacrifice), the Dean/Cas scene represents a whole lot more and truly took my breath away. It was so incredibly beautiful to witness (to the point where I was sobbing over that single scene and am still not over it), and true to the name of the poll, I rewound and rewatched countless times.
currently in this thread, brofans aren’t pointing out anything other than their own rudeness and blind assumption that their way is the only way. by all means believe that nothing holds a candle to the sam and dean relationship, no one’s stopping you. but don’t go around calling d/c fans delusional and belittle their opinions because that is incredibly rude and presumptuous as fuck. notice how people who don’t agree with you don’t start piling on insults or question the validity of their “fanhood” which is in itself beyond ridiculous. 🙂
What’s the difference between Cas, Benny, Bobby, or Charlie? It’s not like Dean doesn’t have any other friendships and Cas is particularly unique. Sam and Dean otoh is on a whole different plane from most relationships I’ve seen on tv. PERIOD. Dean literally sold his soul for Sam and suffered 40 years of being tormented in hell for him, the ultimate of grand gestures and display of true love. It’s because I have watched the whole show as well as anyone with sense can see Sam is Dean’s heart and soul and his everything. Why should I care that much about a relationship that for the most part has been more about distrust and betrayal than genuine affection? Dean and Cas have mostly just use each other on other and barely ever interact just for the sake of each other’s company, it’s always “Cas you need to save/fix Sam” or Dean is reluctantly dragged away by Cas begging for help after one of his screw ups. Hardly the heartwarming ship their painted out as. Sam and Dean have problems too, but they’re more than just lip service that they love each other they SHOW it by their actions.
It’s awesome that two moments from SPN made it to this poll! 😀
As much as I enjoyed Sam & Dean’s heart to heart moment in the finale, my vote goes to Dean and Cas’ scene in the Crypt. Dean’s always the type to keep everything locked in and isn’t one to admit how much he needs someone in their life outside of his brother and Bobby. So to see him show this vulnerable side to himself, to tell Cas, “You’re family- I need you.” is huge! I only hope this kind of character development continues on into s9.
Gina… is it really necessary for you to ask us that? Can’t you figure it out by yourself? It’s not really THAT difficult.
Charlie: Friend, then sister figure. Dean loves her.
Benny: Brother in arms in Purgatory, then friend. Dean loves him.
Bobby: Father figure, and friend. Dean loves him.
Cas: Best friend, with heavy romantic undertones/tones. Dean loves him.
You’re welcome.
oh god, it looks like dean doesn’t love sam and only sam!!! what a shock!!!
As a SPN fan I’m so happy to see two scenes make it into the poll! Yay!
I loved and was really moved by the Sam/Dean scene and thought Jared did an absolutely amazing job! I think that’s one of his best scenes acting-wise. It was good to see the brothers finally get out some of the issues that had clearly been there for awhile. I hope their relationship can improve next season.
HOWEVER, in this regard, I have to vote for the crypt scene between Dean and Cas! It was so unbelievably moving! Until that point we had seen Sam, John and Bobby all fight through mind-control for Dean so it was fitting that Cas did the same – Dean’s loved ones will always come through for him in the end. This season we’ve seen their relationship grow closer than ever before and have seen some amazingly touching scenes between them. But after watching Cas struggle for most of the season under Naomi’s influence and being forced to kill thousands of fake Deans as “training” it was beautiful to see his love for Dean break him free of her control once and for all! And for Dean who has struggled all season with Cas’ disappearance and not understanding the reasons behind some of his actions, he finally got the answers he was looking for and was able to break through to his friend by telling him (again) how much he needs him, not just for his powers, but for him as a person.
It was just an amazing scene all around.
i just can’t get behind the sam and dean scene after more than a month has passed i still don’t know why. it takes more than a hug and worried dean for me to feel something after being here since the pilot. it just felt like more of the same and nothing new was gained from it since it’s not like i as a viewer didn’t already know dean puts sam first.
so that whole thing felt repetitive and a play a fanservice for brother fans without putting in work to develop their relationship over the whole season or explain any of the dropped emotional arcs. explore his emotional pov? nah. explore the imbalance in the brother dynamic? nah. address how the parental role dean takes now no longer works as they’re both now adults with conflicting needs? yeeeahhh…. nah. explore dean’s anger with sam as a way to show how he deflects his emotional fears off on him as a way to avoid them? almost… oh wait.. nah.
i think i would’ve reacted more emotionally if it had taken place mid season as the breaking and turning point for their relationship with the follow up being the sam’s speech to dean during the first trail and then before they met metatron.
i also don’t get this whole comparison to swan song when the fight is closer to dean and castiel’s “fight” in the alley in season 5 than anything else and held the overall tone of “come back to yourself. stop what you’re doing cause this isn’t you. come back because we are family.” where swan song was “i’m here for you no matter what. even if you kill me i won’t leave you here alone.”
but more to the point swan song was about the brothers and a conclusion of 5 years of storytelling that got them to that point. the crypt scene was about castiel and was the turning point for him in the midway point for the season.
Far and away the brother scene. Sam and Dean own my heart and this show, which is (in my opinion) as it should be. Two brothers. Friends and fallen angels can tag along from time to time, but the spotlight should always shine on the two about whom the stories are told. Jared and Jensen are super together and make this show eminently watchable.
Both SPN scenes were great. The brothers’ scene because we FINALLY got to find out what had been going on in Sam’s head all season long, and Jared rocked it. The Dean & Cas scene because it was a lovely parallel to Swan Song, and showed us just how important these two are to each other (even if they don’t realize it themselves yet). I started watching the show in ’06, have seen every episode more than once, and BOTH relationships are extremely important to the show. That said, I voted for the Dean & Cas scene because it was such a huge step for Dean, admitting he needs Cas.
I voted crypt scene. It was a very delicate, intimate scene. Dean admitting he needs Cas was a turning point in their relationship.
@Louise
The reason I saved them is because I was being verbally attacked by extreme destiel fans for no other reason then I don’t ship. They were saved because those posters were reported. So don’t go making assumptions about me or my reasons without asking me why I saved them in the first place. Ok, thanks sweetie.
@ashley
I stand corrected (and there really was no reason for you to be snarky). What I should’ve said was that most fans who have been with the show have an inclination to be fans of the Brothers.Just as many newer fans, who started watching in S4, tend to favor Castiel. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I was trying to counter some poster’s backlash against fans who are “bi-bro” with simple reasoning as to why they may be “bi-bro” to begin with.
See? It’s instigatory backlash posts from both camps (the destielers and pro-bros)that always start this garbage.
People are going to post their opinions on scenes and characters. They have every right to do so. We may not like others’ opinions or views(the non-overtly deragatory), but that’s NO reason to go accusing them of being spiteful or offensive just because we may not like their pov.
When those posts are overtly deragatory (bashing fans/characters/actors),then defensive posts are fine,to a point.
Fact of the matter is, our fandom is made up of many different people with just as many different points of views. We’re not always going to agree on everything. We all have our favorite characters and characters we don’t like. There are those who like to ship, those who don’t ship and those who dislike ships. Unfortunately for the SPN Fandom, it’s the shipping that seems to be the major point of contention nowadays. It’s all that infighting that has led up to individual points of view being taken personally because it differs from our own individual points of view on a character/scene/storyline.
@sherryandgin, he mentioned it at NJCon. (the part about the face cupping was not in the panel, Robbie Thompson mentioned it on Twitter)

Sam and Dean scene hands down. One of the best brother moments in the series.
I can’t believe the Dean and Cas scene is even included. It was a “Swan Song” ripoff (and a very poor one at that) and I am so insulted it was made to begin with let alone on this poll.
Dean didn’t “break through Castiel”, it was the Angel tablet, a later episode made it pretty clear.
Am I the only one who prefered the Crowley/Sam scene inside the church to either of the spn ones up for a vote? It was better acted, developed both characters involved (especially Crowley who, lets face it, has been boring of late), and exciting to watch. Or the Sam/Dean ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ speech. The Sam/Dean finale scene was lackluster in comparison.
As both a Sam fan and a brofan, I am actually embarassed to see the amount of vitriol coming from ‘my side’. There’s no reason to try and elevate your favorite by attacking and putting down the opposing side. Sam and Dean should be able to stand on their own merits, I think.
Meh. I’m abstaining I think.
@Ally, Misha himself said it was Dean, not the tablet. Otherwise a scene of Cas killing so many copies of Dean would have had no dramatic power. The only person who ever said it was the tablet was Crowley, who wasn’t there.
@rhys, I thought the Sam/Crowley scene was great. It was nice to see Mark Sheppard getting a chance to really act. I thought the scene with Dean and Sam in the finale was probably one of their most powerful in recent years, and one of the first in a long time with that emotional power, but I don’t think they did a good enough job showing Sam’s POV, because now people keep saying Sam doesn’t want Dean to have any friends, which I don’t think is true.
It was his friendship with Dean that stopped him from killing Dean. It was the Tablet the broke him free of Naomi’s hold.
Sam and Dean scene was so amazing, best in entire season. Their brotherly bond is what this show is all about.
The Crowley being cured scene was some outstanding acting by Mark Sheppard. I think the reason it wasn’t in the poll is because the poll is focusing on friendships/bonds. Of which, Crowley has neither with the boys or cas.
What?! How is THE New Girl kiss not on this list?!
And the Sam/Dean fans still belittle the other scene in order to vote theirs… Great jobs, yours. And if you really think “friends and angels” come and go in life and family remains….. you should live a little more.
“See? It’s instigatory backlash posts from both camps (the destielers and pro-bros)that always start this garbage.”
@caseytiger, we will all wait with bated breath for you to be as dedicated and vigilant in calling out the “brothers fans” who are scattered throughout this comment section, being “instigatory” and, quite frankly, posting garbage. You know, since you’re so fairminded and keen to root out the nasties in the fandom.
Casey/tens1822/Denise, you really are crey honey.
For me it’s the Dean/Castiel crypt scene without a doubt! <3 Such an important, heartbreaking and yet uplifting moment in the Dean and Castiel friendship/relationship. Besides the Dean in Purgatory stuff I think it's my other favorite moment of S8.
Absolutely no question, I voted for the Sam and Dean scene in the finale, that one scene saved the entire season for me. The words that Sam finally said after all those years holding them in, and Dean’s heart-on-the-line answer was so well acted and so moving. When Jensen and Jared get a scene like that, they knock it out of the park every time. I hope we get a few more like that in season 9!
Supernatural’s “Sacrifice” was one the best finale of the series, mainly because Jared and Jensen totally owned the church scene. Sam and Dean IS Supernatural, the story about 2 brothers that lived in each other’s pockets.
While both actors are praised for the intense brotherly scene, I have to say that Jared really sold it and tore every scene up.
Meanwhile..I. Must. Not. Make. Fun. Of. Destiel Shippers’. Love. Of. Abusive. BeatDowns. Full hanging fruit.
Hate on the brother fans all you want. It was our show first before you johnny come lately’s tried to hijack this fandom and turn your fanfic into the show. You can’t stop us from speaking out and voicing our opinion. I watch the show for the brothers and don’t like Dean/Cas. Deal with it.
@Kate “It was our show first” – oh boy well you sure put us Castiel and Dean/Cas fans in our place didn’t you! I’ll have to remember that SPN only belongs to the brothers only fans like you and the rest of us get to have no opinions or feelings.
Keep going, “brothers only” fans, you’re only embarrassing yourselves here.
I watch the show for the brothers, and Castiel, and Dean and Castiel, and the Harvelles and Bobby and Kevin and Charlie and Benny and many other characters who’ve helped make SPN an enduring genre show. Deal with it.
@Bill – I. Must. Not. Make. Fun. Of. Brothers-only fans. Who. Think. Shows. Can. Have. Only. One. Relationship. And characters. Can. Love. Only. One Person. At. A. Time.
(Too easy).
Sam and Dean’s heart to heart talk in the church. The finale totally saved an uneven season, though it improved exponentially in the 2nd half when it explored the Winchester family history and Sam’s story arc, which turned out to be emotionally eviscerating through outa Sam’s silent sufferings.
The church scene was much needed honest talk between the brothers and it was cathartic, and Jared and Jensen totally sold it which is not surprising given their natural and amazing chemistry. The scene probably lasted less than 5 minutes but it was all fans could talk about for weeks afterwards and being written about in endless articles. That was how incredible and powerful the scene is and I repeatedly watch on YouTube since I don’t have DVR.
@Dot well admittedly the destiel fans make it soooooo easy. Look I have nothing against your ship (see my username) but the stark fact is, 99% of the destiel shippers are flipping insane. Really. This is not a secret.
@Jimmy Novak – are you serious? Have you looked at the comments here? Are you paying attention to what’s going on in this fandom *at all*? Also, do you see me saying 99% of Sam & Dean fans put down everything but the brothers and bash other fans and keep insisting they’re the only real fans of the show and keep insisting Dean can’t care about Cas because he cares about Sam and hate all over a heartfelt scene between two beloved characters because they can’t figure out a way to to appreciate their fave without hating on other things?
Here’s what is not a secret: there is a very noisy, but minority faction of brother fans that spend a whole lot of time hating on Castiel and Dean/Cas and hating on fans and make the fandom a less welcoming place to be. Like it or not, Castiel fans come from all different interest sets in the fandom and Dean/Castiel fans are SPN fans and contrary to this ridiculous urban legend some keep trying to establish as “stark fact,” most of Dean/Cas fandom are fans of the show like any other faction and are about squeeing for a relationship they love (much like Sam & Dean fans) and in fact many, many Dean/Cas shippers love the brother relationship and other supporting characters.
Dean/Sam church scene without a doubt! It was amazing, heartbreaking, and hopeful at the same time. There is something richly symbolic that this scene took place in a church. Sam’s confession and Dean’s declaration that nothing, past or present, comes before Sam was pure because it was spoken in front of God. When Jensen and Jared do a scene like this where they are allowed to utterly shine, it becomes unforgettable as witnessed by the fandom inability to stop talking about this awesome scene! Seriously we just can’t stop talking about it because it is that powerful and pure and full of heart.
The Sam and Dean scene in the church was not only the best of the season IMO, it was among the most moving and touching moments I have ever seen on the entire show, and I say this as someone who has been a diehard Supernatural fan since the pilot. The relationship between the brothers is something truly beautiful. It’s the reason I watch the show and moments like the one in “Sacrifice” show that Sam and Dean’s love for each other will always be the heart and soul of Supernatural. Sam has ALWAYS been the most important thing in Dean’s life, from the night he saved six-month-old Sammy from a burning house, and the scene in the church just cements that for me.
To hear Dean say, “Don’t you dare think there’s anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you” went straight to my heart and brought me to tears. The hug to comfort Sam was a thing of beauty. How could anyone think that Sam isn’t Dean’s world after that?
It was brilliantly acted on both sides and Jared and Jensen brought an INCREDIBLE amount of emotion to the scene. There’s just no comparison to anything else this season. Never a question of my vote. It will always, always be Sam and Dean.
Whoa Dot, calm yourself down, this isn’t the place to have the legendary meltdowns that destiel fans are well known for whenever they don’t get their way (cough) New Jersey con (cough) You all have a well founded reputation as 1) minority 2) multiple accouts, and 3) loud. Destiel tumblrs have put out scripts on how to cheat this poll, so watch yourself.
@beautix – LOL typical, that when a destiel fan actually calls out the bad behavior from some of the bro-fans, it gets turned around to hdu actually object to the bad behavior! LOL.
There’s a faction of brothers only types that have a well-founded rep as 1) minority (and using multiple sock accounts on twitter that all retweet each other, usually to dump all over Dean/Castiel) and 2) loud. Very very loud.
The not getting their own way at NJ con incident, I assume, refers to the fact that a Dean/Cas fan was shouted down/heckled until she couldn’t ask a perfectly reasonable question because of a room full of entitled, pushy, bullying fans. Refers to the fact that Dean/Cas fans are apparently not supposed to ask questions, ever, about a relationship they care about, because some have made themselves the self-appointed arbiters of what Real Fans are and what is Proper and doesn’t give a damn whether other fans get treated with basic courtesy. Is that what you’re referring to?
Watch myself what? Waste time hoping for better from this fandom?
The Sam and Dean scene in the church is what everybody kept talking about for weeks the finale aired, it’s just that good and that moving and that beautiful and that heartbreaking. The brothers are the heart and soul of the Supernatural, has been since day 1 and will continue to be until the final episode air.
The incredible depth of emotion brought to the scene by Jared and Jensen is unmatched to any other scenes in season 8. It was honest and healing and long time coming. Dean taking Sam into his arms was a thing of beauty, iterating the message since the pilot that Sam is Dean’s world.
I’m probably one of the anti-Dean/Castiel twitters you’re talking about, unless they have multiple personalities and identities very few are using socks on my followers list. They don’t only talk about the show, they talk about their daily lives, husbands, and kids, donating to Jared and Jensen endorsed charities, etc, I doubt they’d go that far just to hate on a ship on a tv show by pretending to live double lives. Not their fault their love for the brothers bond and wanting that relationship to be treated with respect to not have iconic scenes like Swan Song be tarnished the way it was offends you so.
The entire episode of the Supernatural season finale was awesome and amazing. I began watching this show this just past year and fell in love with it so much…so much that I have bought all seven seasons on DVD. I love all the characters, all the cast, and all the crew so, so much.
I thought that the scene between Sam and Crowley was amazing too. Mark Sheppard’s talent is off-the-charts amazing. And Jared…wow. He’s always amazing, but he really brought his A-game for this scene, as well as the nominated scene with Jensen. Sam and Dean’s bond is a crucial part of Supernatural and I love it very much. Through all 8 seasons, their brotherly love for each other has made me weep over and over.
As a huge fan of Castiel (and the out-of-this-work incredible Mr. Misha Collins), I’ve been particularly in love with Seasons 4 and after. Castiel brought a new dimension to the show and his relationship with Dean, and to a less extent with Sam, is one of my favorite aspects of the show. The nominated scene with Cas and Dean was (just as the amazing writer Mr. Thompson probably meant for it to be) full of feels! Dean telling Cas that he needs him and breaking through Naomi’s control of Cas was so heart-warming. The way this scene was written, the way it was acted and blocked, and just everything about it still makes me want to smile at the brilliance of it all, and cry with happiness about it. So it got my vote in this poll, but that doesn’t take anything away from Sam/Jared or the Sam and Dean relationship. I just personally love all things Castiel/Misha the most and the Dean/Castiel relationship is my favorite, along with Team Free Will! The 3 of those awesome actors (portrayed by those brilliant men) is my very favorite.
Beckett’s “I love you”. GEEZ, that totally ripped my heart out and reduced me to a sobbing mess!
I am a non-shipper and I vote for the crypt scene because it was a powerful moment and because Jensen’s acting was brilliant. I find very childish and myopic of bi-bros shippers to assume only destiel shippers prefer that scene. They should tone it down a bit because their taking the enjoyment out of the rest of the fans that have nothing to do with destiel. I consider Dean and Cas best friends and nothing else, it’s great for Dean to have a friend he can lean on when he’s always been weighed by everybody’s else burdens and that he can relate to in equal terms. To be honest the brother moments aren’t as touching anymore because it’s always the same thing. It’s more interesting to see the apparitions of such a fascinating character as Cas.
I voted many other spn polls and for what I’m used to see in the comments section, the destiel shippers are the ones being attacked and harassed by the other faction.
Kudos to all destiel shipper from a non-shipper for staying polite and classy.
I know for a fact brother fans have gotten death threats from Destiel shippers and they made a hit list to bully bro fans. Ask StoryAddict69 about the crap they did to her and the way she was targeted on twitter. And from what I’ve seen the only thing she sort of said she ships is Dean/Benny funnily enough? Classy my ass lol. Definitely wasn’t classy either when they accused Jensen of being a homophobe and demanded an apology when he did nothing wrong except not feed into some fans shippers fantasy that Dean is bi and will one day bang Cas.
The reason why Dean/Cas is one of the most powerful relationships, if not the most powerful one on SPN, is because Jensen and Misha have such an amazing chemistry. Every scene speaks volumes, whether it’s lighthearted or heartbreaking and both actors work really well together to the point, where the subtext placed by the production team and the writers just enhances that chemistry. Like Cas watching Dean sleep, like Dean observing Cas coming out of the bathroom, Dean and Cas talking about Castiel’s mindset in 8.08. Or the powerful “I need you”.
This is the reason I strongly support a canon relationship and considering that it also would do a lot for queer fans to see a main character like Dean coming out as bi, and still being a hero and not a stereotype… yes I strongly support that. As for those accusing fans of all kinds of things. They will never understand and they will continue spreading misconceptions out of their own ignorance. Don’t listen and don’t argue. Destiel fans are strong and one of the most beautiful part of a fandom I’ve ever encountered.
I have to choose the crypt scene, simply because the Dean Sam scene is bad writing, it is regressive and destroyed some of the nice character development we’ve seen during season 8. I don’t give two shits about shipping or silly ship wars, I just want to see good writing and continuity but the s8 finale highly lacked in that department.
Every Dean/Cas scene if the highlights of spn. Greatest love story ever told.
I cant even believe the crypt scene is included. It was a cheap Swan Song rip-off that didn’t have a fraction of the believability of the original. In my opinion it is one of the WORST scenes the show has ever see.
It made the writers look lazy, like they have no material left and think they can just recreate great moments by changing the players a little. It also made the writers look like they don’t even know what made the show great. Kripke realised very early on that Jared and Jensen had great chemistry – that their real life friendship absolutely bleeds into their characters and makes them truly convincing as brothers. You can’t just recreate those moments by swapping the actors. Jensen and Misha have great chemistry on a superficial ‘eyerolling at my pet angel’ kind of way, but trying to manufacture anything mre always falls flat as a pancake.
It also felt totally contrived and pointless, like the only reason it was even filmed was to appease noisy ‘Destiel’ shippers. They can get really ugly when their demands aren’t being met.
On the other hand, the Sam N Dean thing at the end of the season was everything that made Supernatural so great. When Sam reveals his pain at letting Dean down/making him turn to others before him, you believe he is really hurting. When Dean tells Sam that nothing and nobody will ever come before Sam you know that has been the truth since Dean was 4 yeas old.
San and Dean are and always have been what makes Supernatural great!
Wait, there is a campaign to get Castiel off the show? Where do I sign up? Loved Castiel for the first two seasons, can’t stand him now. Should have finished the entire angel storyline at the end of season 5.
The Men of Letters stuff really felt like Supernatural had found its way again – more of that and way less looking for increasingly ridiculous ways to stretch out a story that naturally ended years ago please.
The crypt scene, while not my absolute favorite between the two this season, gets my vote. I *love* Dean and Castiel’s friendship, it’s this emotionally fraught and sometimes weirdly tender connection and I find it completely fascinating. I can’t wait to see how Jensen and Misha play their dynamic next season.
“Ask StoryAddict69 about the crap they did to her and the way she was targeted on twitter.”
@Jack why don’t you ask storyaddict69 about the way she targets D/C fans on twitter and tweets Misha hate to Misha Collins and the rest of the PTB? Like quite a few of the names in comments on here do.
Tina and Ugh, are you kidding me? Ugh, since WHEN has this show given ANYONE as much importance and focus as it ALWAYS gives Sam? And no, the whole show SHOULDN’T just be about Sam! It should be equally about BOTH brothers but most of the time Sam is given ALL the important storylines while Dean merely is there to support him. And Tina, SAM undermined in the brother’s relationship? When Dean, lives, breaths, and exists ONLY for Sam, while Sam pretty much always does whatever the hell he wants? I’m sorry, I love Sam, but I find it incredible that we can possibly be watching the same show. And no, I am NOT a Destieler.
DeanCas by far. Beautifully acted and beautiful to see Dean manage to get through to Cas when Cas was so far under. I’m so happy Misha will be a full time regular in season 9, can’t wait to see lots more Jensen-Misha heat onscreen. 🙂
Sad to see so many fans here insulting such a popular character and his fans (especially sad to see their blind hatred means they can’t even shower love on the things they do like about the show). Oh well, it’s not like TPTB will ever read it. 😛
The whole crypt scene between Cas and Dean was simply amazing.
Castiel is my all time favourite character and the most important reason I watch the show.
I would laugh my a** of if – after all this SPN talk – the Castle or Bones-Scenes’ win… My show is SPN since Season 1 and I voted accordingly, but I’m sick and tired of the discussions and the ‘holier than you’ attitude of BOTH sides. Get a grip and grow up.
Dean and Cas 🙂 It’s the reason I keep watching the show, they always bring up the best moments
Castiel is the most unique and fascinating character so I’ll vote anything with him in it
Well Ugh, to me, the whole damn season was all about Sam, the whole SHOW is always about Sam, and Dean means nothing if not to only be there for Sam because only Sam matters. How can Dean be keeping Sam down when in the end, always, Sam usually does whatever he wants? And no, I don’t believe Sam gave up Amelia because of Dean, but Dean sure as hell gave up his friendship with Benny because of Sam.
This season was the first time Sam admitted to any self esteem issues. Dean is constantly told, by Sam, by everyone, how weak, stupid, and unimportant he is compared to Sam. But I don’t want Sam to be put down either. I only want them both to be presented in an equally important light.
I also would have chosen the scene between Sam and Dean as the most moving. I did love how Sam finally seemed to give a damn about Dean after acting like he couldn’t care less about him for the better part of season 8, and even then though, he seemed to be blaming Dean for how bad he felt although he had been the one who hurt Dean so many times. But I also know that the uncaring Sam wasn’t the Sam I have known and loved for 7 seasons prior. Carver really destroyed this show for me, and I can only hope season 9 is a huge improvement.
Been watching the show since day one and voted for the Dean and Castiel scene. Will always support Dean and/or Castiel.
I love Dean and Cas relationship, but this time I vote for Sam and Dean’s last speech at the season 8 finale, because it’s just heartbreaking, and hurtful in a beautiful way, and it got me deep to my family feelings. I wish I had an older brother like Dean to make me feel so loved like he does with Sammy.
Wow. To change it up a little…BONES.
The church scene is so powerful! I swear I must have watched this scene couple times a day for weeks afterwards. I know I’m not the only one because fans and authors alike were talking and writing about it weeks later. Amazing! The struggle, the push-pull between Dean and Sam, the amazing way Jared Padalecki’s acting owned the scene (and us) as he broke down. We’ve seen brotherly moments before but this is by far the most powerfuel and heartbroken of them all, I didn’t think it could top Swan Song but it did.
Brennen’s proposal! Come on, best moment ever! You people….
I promised myself I wouldn’t go there, but what the hell. I honestly don’t get why the SPN’s Dean/Cas crypt scene is on the poll. Dean’s “I need you” is to get the little bugger creep to STOP KLLING HIM! Somebody beating the life out of you, you’re going to say anything and everything to get that bugger to STOP KILLING YOU!
I’ve proposed marriage to strange woman trying to stab me with her heels, you’re going to say and do anything under duress.
Now that other SPN scene in the church with Dean and Sam, I might have voted for that one if it weren’t so gay, but it’s my understand that it was a long time coming for loyal fans.
Without a doubt the Sam/Dean scene in the church. It was heartbreaking in a beautiful way. The brothers’ relationship is pure with familial love and no matter how much demons and angels (and I include Castiel in this one) try to manipulate the brothers against eachother, Dean and Sam always find their way back to eachother.
@Veronica Please explain to me how it would support the queer community by making a canonical straight man into a bisexual and a rapist? Castiel is occupying a body that does not belong to him and the poor soul trapped in the body is also a straight man. Jimmy Novak only agreed to let Castiel take over his body to spare his own daughter from his fate. The only “powerful relationship” between D/C is stuff of fanfictions. Destiel shippers even have to photoshop Castiel into Sam’s place just to make Dean look as if he gives a damn about Cas.
It has nothing to do with benefiting the queer community and everything about fulfilling your fantasy. As an earlier commentator said, Dean’s “I need you” is to get the Creepstiel to stop killing him. Fans pointed out that reason why Dean took Castiel to the crypt is because he didn’t want Sam to be left alone with Castiel who has a nasty habit of attacking and nearly killing Sam.
Sam and Dean scenes towards the end of the season and especially the finale is everything that makes Supernatural great. When Sam reveals depth of his pain, whoa, Jared Padalecki was amazing and you believe that his character is really hurting. When Dean tells Sam that nothing and nobody will ever come before Sam you know that has been the truth since Dean was 4 yeas old. Since the pilot the show has been about Sam and Dean and that’s what makes the show so great!
That said I voted for Bennen’s proposal scene. The most Romantic Proposal Ever versus suicidal depression of said character who is still ill, weak, and near death at the closing of the finale (and any screentime of Castiel the Dumbest angel in the garrison didn’t help either)
LOL @Amy, we should definitely all take your post to heart since you’re so neutral and unbiased. Tool.
Dean & Cas. No contest. And no matter how many times the same three tools post the exact same Cas hate comments using different names, there will be no contest.
@Amy There’s a lot of fans (myself included) who believe the show has shown plenty of clues to indicate Dean might be a repressed bisexual. It does happen in real life, and if TPTB wanted it to happen with Dean, there are past events in the show that would back it up. I could list them here, but somehow I doubt you’d be inclined to consider them, which is fine. Not everyone has to agree with this interpretation of Dean’s character, but there’s no reason to come across as so rude and insulting to Destiel shippers who have reached a different conclusion than you.
The claim that people photoshop Sam out and replace him with Castiel in pictures is quite puzzling to me. There’s plenty of great scenes and moments between Dean and Cas, No photoshopping Sam out is necessary. Maybe you overlooked those Dean/Cas moments on the show though because clearly you don’t care for the character and that relationship, so understandably you’re probably not paying close attention those scenes when they happen.
In the 8.23 episode after Metatron remove Castiel’s grace, he told Castiel that his soul that will return to heaven when he dies, making it clear that Castiel is no longer an angel and now has a soul of his own. Therefore, I think it’s extremely unlikely, especially when you also consider all the times Castiel has died and been resurrected, that Jimmy Novak’s soul is still in the body Castiel’s occupies. The issue of consent is a valid concerned, but one the show could easily address without making anyone into a rapist.
Dean has left Sam and Castiel alone plenty of times, and Castiel has defended and risked his life not just for Dean but Sam too. It seems like a gross mischaracterization to claim Cas has “a nasty habit of attacking and nearly killing Sam”. You’re are probably referring back to when Castiel broke Sam’s wall, something that only a temporary fix that was about to break on its own anyway. It’s something Castiel expressed great remorse for doing, and he was later able to heal Sam, but you seem intent on hating the character, so I doubt he can do anything that would move your heart enough to forgive him. Fortunately, for those of us who do love the character, Sam and Dean have the capacity to forgive (and that in turn makes me love Sam and Dean all the more too).
In episode 8.02 when Dean was tearing through purgatory to find Castiel, and then finally did find him, he told Castiel that he needed him. However, Castiel was staying away from Dean in order to keep the leviathans off his trial. Having Castiel with him in purgatory was a hindrance, not a help. Nonetheless, Dean said he needed him. Do you believe Dean was lying in that instance? If so, then why? If he wasn’t lying 8.02, then why would he be lying in 8.17?
Like it or not, the 8.17 scene was very moving for many fans, and it’s a worthy addition to this category. Likewise 8.23 scene between Sam and Dean was also very emotional and resonated with a lot of people, so I’m not surprised to see it here too. I’m proud Supernatural has two entries into this category, and I find it disappointing that there is so much divisiveness in the fandom. Surely there’s room for both Sam/Dean and Dean/Castiel fans?
“Fans pointed out that reason why Dean took Castiel to the crypt is because he didn’t want Sam to be left alone with Castiel who has a nasty habit of attacking and nearly killing Sam”
“Fans pointed out” Is that supposed to mean it’s gospel then? Because if you think it’s true just because “fans pointed it out” then it must also be true that Dean got a boner when he saw Cas walk out of the bathroom in 8.07. You know, because fans pointed it out.
Have you forgotten that Dean prayed to Cas and asked him to watch over Sam? Doesn’t sound like the actions of a man who’s worried about what Cas might do to his brother. You should see a doctor for that amnesia you got going there.
@Amy – Michelle already eloquently and thoroughly adressed your comment but I’m going to particularly add my thoughts on this:
“Destiel shippers even have to photoshop Castiel into Sam’s place just to make Dean look as if he gives a damn about Cas.”
This isn’t the first time this claim has been made and it sounds more outrageous every time. I don’t know what version of SPN, or what version of SPN fandom, you’re looking at. Ironically, it’s a flat-out blatant distortion of canon to say that Dean & Cas fans need photoshop manips in order to make it look like Dean cares for Castiel. There are years of dialogue, significant moments, body language, actor facial expressions, delivery of said dialogue, textual confirmations, plot confirmations, countless ways that Dean has shown that Castiel matters to him a great deal, and vice versa.
Room for interpretation is fair, but because Sam & Dean fans have repeatedly, loudly, and rudely accused Dean/Cas fans of being “delusional” I am going to point this out. It’s difficult to discuss/debate when people are this extremely out of touch with what actually takes place in the episodes, and rather than looking like honest critique, it just smacks of a brothers-only agenda and hate bias against Castiel and Dean & Castiel’s relationship.
It is perfectly possible to acknowledge the existence of a bond between two characters, and yet still state a preference for a different relationship. One doesn’t negate the other.
Also note, Dean & Castiel’s “powerful relationship” exists with or without a slash lens. It’s a canon fact, a bond built over 5 seasons and counting. There are ample reasons why fans see an undercurrent, a suggestion of romantic interest, the possibility that the relationship might turn into something of a romantic nature in addition to the complex and compelling bond already in place. If people don’t want to ship it, that’s their business. If they want to ship it, that’s their business. But claiming there’s nothing there makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
@Kate- “It’s instigatory backlash posts from both camps (the destielers and pro-bros)that always start this garbage.”
Maybe you missed the post aways back, when I said this. It was in a post where I included the entire SPN fandom. I made it very clear that bad behavior and instigatory remarks were not one-sided, that there are bad apples throughout the entire fandom. I DID NOT just single out one particular group.
@Alice- First of all, you can use one or the other of my online names. I consider my name personal info that I don’t like using in posts and blogs (and yes, I’m aware it’s on my fb).
Secondly- Unlike you, I haven’t called anyone names nor have I been rude to anyone. It’s very easy to sit behind a computer and bash someone you don’t know. However, since you’ve bashed me before for no reason, I’m really not at all surprised you’re doing the same thing again.
Since I’ve been out of town for a few days, I’ve only just now read some pretty rude posts from both sides.
Bro Fans- It’s fine to dislike a character and have your own pov on the show, but you can express yourself respectfully. If you choose to respond to inflammatory posts(be they about characters/shipping/scenes/other fans), do so with class. It just makes you a better person. Don’t put others down for loving one certain character or shipping them respectfully.
Destielers- Like the Bro fans, it’s fine to dislike a character and have your own pov about the show. It’s fine to love a character(s) and ship them and want to share that with others, but do so with respect. If you choose to respond to inflammatory posts, do so with class.Don’t put others down for being more pro-brother or not being a fan of your favorite character or ship.
@Abeda Brennan’s proposal was most definitely THE BEST MOMENT EVER!!! Both on Bones and on tv!! You can’t beat her proposal. Beef jerky? “I’ve been afraid. I’ve been stubborn. And I’ve been in love.” “I want you to be my husband. I wanna spend the rest of my lie with you.” What other more romantic proposal do you want? Best moment on tv!! Left me squealing the roof off 😉
@alice
I’ve said this to you before and I’ll put it out there again. You can find me under tens1822 on twitter, if you ever want to debate me or clear things up.
That invitation is open to anyone who’d prefer to know my actual pov on the show/characters, rather then going on heresay and assumptions (most of which stems from other posters I talk to and have befriended. Just because I happen to be friends with somebody doesn’t mean I share the same opinions as them)
@Clare- That was classy. Yours is a prime example of instigatory posts.
@caseytiger5 – I have to point out that what happens most of the time is that Destiel fans are attacked, a beloved character and pairing is repeatedly harshed on and put down beyond what seems like reasonable critique, and when Cas and D/C respond, suddenly it becomes “but both sides are behaving badly.” Not saying you intend to do that necessarily, but it’s definitely become a pattern.
“Don’t put others down for being more pro-brother or not being a fan of your favorite character or ship.”
That is not an accurate summary of what upsets Cas and Dean/Cas fans. “more pro brother” is not the problem, fans who are most interested in the brother relationship are not the problem. What is a problem is a noisy (but as far as I can tell small) contingent who keep saying the brothers are all that matter, anyone who feels differently is anti-brother bond, or not a real fan, and who dump on everything that is not!Sam&Dean. That’s a step beyond being “more pro-brothers.” Most of this fandom is pro-brother bond, loves the brother bond, cares what happens to it, regardless of how/why they got into SPN. I don’t like the association of deeply caring about the brother relationship with not being enthusiastic about other relationships, but that’s how some try to portray it.
Likewise, if someone dislikes Castiel and doesn’t ship Dean/Castiel that’s their right as a fan–fans don’t feel and think alike. Someone makes it a point to bash Castiel at every opportunity, say he ruins the show, use demeaning/insulting language in order to get their hatred of the character across, that is what people have taken issue with. I’m not sure why people go so out of their way to hate on this character and relationship so often, so hard, rather than focusing on their favorite, except that they think Dean & Cas threatens Sam & Dean, but it doesn’t.
Oh wow this poll is quite the fandom battlefield… As a Supernatural fan I loved both of these scenes!
It was great to finally see some insight into Sam’s mind frame in the finale! The show illustrates what is going on internally with Dean much more than Sam, so Jared rarely gets to flex his acting chops with those kinds of scenes. It was so great to see! I was very happy to see the boys choose not to continue the cycle that has devastated not only them, but all hunters. I’m very excited to see where the consequences will lead them. It was a great scene, but not the one I voted for.
I already know how great the bond between the brothers is and though it was nice to see it evolve I was far more moved by the Dean and Cas crypt scene. I was literally on the edge of my seat for it, screaming at my tv! The relationship between these two continues to move and fascinate me and it is my favorite thing on the show. The romantic tones that were added this year were a beautiful (surprise) addition to their relationship and I think that if Supernatural were to bring them out of the subtext and into the text they would have one of the most unique and beautiful love stories ever told.
More than anything as someone who has followed this story from the beginning I just wanna see Dean and Sam learn that the world has some middle ground. They can continue to be a big part of each other’s lives without clinging only to each other, that their world can be enriched with others. They don’t have to be alone against everything with black eyes, wings or fangs. For better or for worse, it seems Carver has decided that person for Dean is Cas, so I hope he has the commitment to go through with everything that comes with that, otherwise that decision shouldn’t have been made at all. I hope he does right by it because the weight of it not only affects Dean, but Cas as well (and his story is of equal importance to me outside of the Winchesters since he is my favorite character). So I’ll keep watching this show about family to the very end because one of the greatest men I’ve ever known once said: “Family don’t end with blood.” And I’d like to think he knew what he was talking about.
So fandom please let’s stop embarrassing ourselves (and attacking one another) at every corner of the internet. We can treat each other better than this.
@dot (dottweets?)
Since I can count the number of online friends I have that are Cas, Dean/Cas fans on one hand and still have a few fingers left over, I have very limited access to points of views like yours. The fans that do tweet/post to me are usually the extreme ship fans. THEY are the ones that I personally have an issue with. I have nothing and have never had anything against Cas, Dean/Cas fans. Hell, I like Cas, I always have. The only problem I had with him was when team Gamble wrote him so badly ooc. As for shipping, I have no problem with fans shipping characters. I do know a few ship fans and get along with them. So long as the ship (and this is true for any ship) isn’t being forced upon other fans or the actors, then by all means, ship away.
I’m also aware that there are pro-bro fans who can be extreme,as well. I don’t see it on my timeline, because I don’t follow them. The only time I see that extremism is on sites like this. I know you know who I do talk to and am friends with. That doesn’t mean I share the same views or opinions. They know that, I just wish others would understand that too.
I also want to clear something up. I had mentioned that I had saved posts from extreme fans who came after me. Alot of those posts were from posters I had never seen before, ticked at me for having an issue with how they were forcing their ship on other fans and the actors. Instead of being civil, they started accusing me and spreading lies that I hated Cas and Misha and was involved in sending hateful posts and tweets. I was then put on some ridiculous hater list, which resulted in me getting more spiteful tweets and posts. So, I copied and saved those tweets and posts, in order to report them with proof. It wasn’t just extreme shipper posts either. I did get posts from extreme fans, too. I still have them because I just never got around to deleting them. All those saved posts are from at least a year ago.
As for points of views like yours, If more fans like you would express their views to me that way you did, I’d have a better understanding of where you’re coming from.
By the way, Yes this is tens1822. I just post under my secondary account name because it causes a hell of alot less negativity. If you know me from the CWL days, you know what I mean (and some of it was my own damn fault).
@caseytiger:
“I don’t see it on my timeline, because I don’t follow them. ”
ROFLMAO.
A quick look at your follow list shows that it includes teamsamndean, caroinutah, J2Rules, dmfny, paliame, percysowner, kelios, geordiegirl1967, evamcbain2009, shadowhund, windykl, and I’ll stop there.
These are among the worst antiCas trolls in this fandom and most of them are also tinhatters who spread rumors about J2’s marriages not being real and their kids not even being theirs. They also repeatedly send tweets hating on Cas/Misha to the writers and to Jim Micheals. And you expect people to take you seriously? Go away before you make yourself look like an even bigger fool.
“There are years of dialogue, significant moments, body language, actor facial expressions, delivery of said dialogue, textual confirmations, plot confirmations, countless ways that Dean has shown that Castiel matters to him a great deal, and vice versa.”
JEREMY CARVER has said it’s a deep bond. JENSEN AKCLES has said it’s a deep bond. They can dey it all they like, lol, but it’s a deep bond! 😛
Remember when Jensen also trash talked at a con the scene he had to give back the trenchcoat and had to force himself to say the dialogue in Born Again Identity? HE HATED IT. If he can’t even pull off that scene without wanting to puke and complaining about Sera not knowing how to write male friendships, I highly doubt he’d ever be able to stomach your sappy “Destiel” fanfic you want to be canon.
Oh and you might want to stop spreading lies, most of them you mentioned don’t ship in J2 as anything more than friends and are strictly pro-brothers. That’s called slander. How ridiculous are you that you think anyone who loves the central relationship of the show is tantamount to tinhats? Only in this weirdo freaky fandom is that a bad thing to love the leads/main duo and not the side character. That’s like Mulder and Scully fans being hated for loving their dynamic when they are the main characters/pair. WTF crazy as hell Cas fans are the worst.
“Supernatural will always be about the two brothers, everyone else will come and go” (eric kripke)
Eric kripke: “The boys are kind of chained together – one moves ahead and then drags the other one with him and reverse. It’s about the EPIC LOVE STORY of Sam and Dean and drifting them apart and pulling them together.”
So that settles it, the guy who gave life to the characters and show has spoken. The ONLY love story on Spn is Sam and Dean and will always be about their journey together. ‘Nuff said.
“Your brother might be the brother in your family, or it might be the guy next to you in the foxhole.” –Eric Kripke
At no point did Eric Kripke say those other characters and other relationships didn’t matter or were the “only” real bond on the show.
Sorry, typo, the brothers are not the only real bond on the show.
It’s interesting to me how people quote Eric Kripke as the final word gospel and conveniently leave things out like his views on found brotherhood and how excited he was about Castiel. Go back and watch the SDCC videos from before S5, he was very into Castiel’s emotional journey. He made Castiel a regular, and he was fond of the Dean & Castiel bromance.
@clare
Since you were trolling my twitter, then you would also know that I don’t participate in any hate tweets and don’t bash Cas/Misha. They know I still like Cas and have my own pov on things that differ from their own. My TL is public, so anyone who trolls it can clearly see that, though I do talk to many on it, I’m not involved in any anti-cas or hateful posts. What I DO talk to them and others about is the show, the characters, spoilers, theories and intolerance for extreme shippers who harass other fans and the actors who don’t ship or follow their ship.
You find me 1 post where I bashed Cas/Misha or sent HATEFUL posts (I’m not talking about posts where I was defending someone or giving my honest opinion/pov. I’m talking about deragatory, blatantly bashing posts). While I’ve had my fair share of arguments with extreme fans (this includes all extreme fans), I’ve never told anyone to die/insulted their family/actively sought them out to attack them/started rumors and lies about them/put them on a ‘hater’ list and sent that list around the net/told others not to talk to them/etc.
My issue has NEVER been with those who like Cas/Misha, since I like both myself. My issue has ONLY been with those who try and force their ships on others and attack others who don’t ship or don’t believe in their particular ship. I’m not a shipper. I don’t ship anyone in any show or movie. I have no problem with fans who do ship. It’s only when fans get aggressive in trying to force their ships of choice on me or others, that it becomes an issue for me. It isn’t limited to extreme destiel shippers either. I went through the same issue with other EXTREME fans prior. If anyone is familiar with the old CWL, then you know that there were some VERY heated arguements with extreme fans on that site.
I keep my twitter and fb public. I don’t keep my comments/pov locked away. I don’t base who I talk to on public opinion or whose having problems with whom. I also don’t soley talk SPN with those I do chat with. I pay zero attention to the “don’t talk to them because we think they’re haters/we don’t like them/talking to them will give you a bad rep” grade school mentality crap. I base who I talk to/am friends with on the person themselves, NOT on their pov on a damn tv show or which freaking character they may/may not like.
The people I currently talk to have non SPN interests that I share. I’ve gotten to know them over the past 5 years and genuinely like them as people, not as fans of a television show.
Me, I’ve got absolutely no problem at all with same sex love stories, it’s just that, like some have stated here, how in the world do you take a character, who has always been shown to be only into women, and suddenly have him in love with man? (or a being in a male vessel). If Dean is 35 or 36, wouldn’t his orientation be pretty much set in stone by now? And some want to make the ‘ ‘he’s bisexual’ claim , but the show has never shown him interested in men. I don’t think he was crushing on Dr. Sexy, he was merely being a giddy fanboy to me. Talking Charlie through flirting with the guard? I saw that as Dean knowing what works for him when women flirt with him and if you recall, he said he was mortified and Sam was laughing at him. And in the 1940’s time travel episode, to me anyway, it was pretty much clear that Dean was getting a kick out of actually being in that time period and seeing the people dressed in period clothing, not checking out the men as some have claimed. So again, I am not homophobic in the least and am a huge supporter of gay marriage and rights and if somehow Cas did turn out to be Dean’s true love I wouldn’t have any problem with it.And I don’t begrudge people enjoying the thought of Dean and Cas being in love if that’s what they enjoy. I like Cas, I just don’t see how they could realistically take a straight man and change his whole sexual orientation in his mid thirties. But then again we are talking about a show where the main characters have both died at least three times so I guess in their universe anything is possible. I guess they could make the claim that the one true love can overcome even someone’s hard wired sexual orientation. Just a guess.
But the bond between Sam and Dean is without question. Until the lousy first half of season 8 that is. I am glad they took steps to try to restore the brother bond. I do think Dean has had some touching moments with Cas though too, but for me, in this season finale, it was more important to have a scene between Sam and Dean to help restore their brotherly love after all the damage Jeremy Carver did to it this season. No more damned contrived conflict! I just want my boys to have their brotherly bond again.
Not a shipper at all, but The Dean/Cas crypt scene wins out in this one, IMO. Jensen was so amazing in both scenes, but the brother scene in the finale was completely and utterly regressive for both characters and redundant to boot. Dean’s “*I* need you.” in the crypt scene was a breakthrough of epic proportions for Dean and makes me want to see the Dean/Cas relationship explored so much more fully in S9, whereas the scene in the finale just made me feel like we’re only going to get more of the same old, same old between the brothers in S9-Dean being All About Sam and Sam continuing to be All About Himself. Blech! and no thank you, Supernatural writers.
I loved both SPN scenes, but the crypt scene won it for me. It was beautiful IMO. I love TFW so much <3
@roxi – "If Dean is 35 or 36, wouldn't his orientation be pretty much set in stone by now? "
That is absolutely not true. Sexuality is fluid and can change at any point in anyone's life. There are people in real life in their thirties, forties and even fifties whose sexuality has changed, or they may have come to the realization about their true sexuality later in life.
That being said, you don't have to be homosexual to fall in love with someone of the same gender. So as you said: "I guess they could make the claim that the one true love can overcome even someone’s hard wired sexual orientation" That is true =] love has no boundaries. Sometimes you can't help who you fall in love with.
@Abeda “I honestly don’t get why the SPN’s Dean/Cas crypt scene is on the poll. Dean’s “I need you” is to get the little bugger creep to STOP KLLING HIM! Somebody beating the life out of you, you’re going to say anything and everything to get that bugger to STOP KILLING YOU! I’ve proposed marriage to strange woman trying to stab me with her heels, you’re going to say and do anything under duress.”
LOL! I love it when the most casual watcher gets it. The reason why the crypt scene is on the poll is because the fringe minority destiel shippers spammed the nomination. Notice the same person @Dot is doing most the D/C arguing against a while variety of non-destiel commentars. Guess destiels are still sore that most of the fandom HATED the crypt scene and in a TV Guide poll over 80% Jeered the scene. So, there you have it. Destiel shippers spam everything to make it look as if their favorite is more popular that it actually is. Everybody knows that they are the smallest but loudest section of the fandom. Like some commentators, I can count the number of destiel shippers in RL on one hand.
“arguing against a whole variety of non-destiel shippers” was what I meant to type.
Btw, I also voted for the Brennen proposal scene. Romance!
The Sam/Dean church scene was my second choice.
Romance, proposal, church…I must be having weddings on my mind.
“Everybody knows that they are the smallest but loudest section of the fandom”
HA! No, but nice try. That would be(ironically) The Silent Majority whom everyone now knows are predominantly just a bunch of sockpuppets who are also Dean/hating and Cas/Dean-hating(epsecially this) Samfans disguised as “BiBros” and whose name should more aptly be The Annoying Minority. Too bad the producers of Supernatural were duped by this bunch early on and what resulted was the horrendously written second half of S8. But at this point, even Jim Michaels, an executive producer on the show, has blocked them from his twitter.
@caseytiger you just make yourself lool worse and worse doll.
“intolerance for extreme shippers who harass other fans and the actors”
So what about the fact those idiots you follow harass other fans and harass the actors? That ok with you, hm?
“My issue has ONLY been with those who try and force their ships on others and attack others who don’t ship or don’t believe in their particular ship.”
So what about the fact those idiots you follow do this? That ok with you, hm?
“I base who I talk to/am friends with on the person themselves”
OK so people who spread lies about the Js marriages and the paternity of their kids are good people as far as you’re concerned, hm?
What a frigging hypocrite you are.
“Like some commentators, I can count the number of destiel shippers in RL on one hand.”
Then why are you all so frigging worried about us, lol! Of course you guys aren’t spamming here at all are you? You guys never spam the writers on twitter. and re your jeers poll, the eonline one that was one vote per IP address was more than 95 per cent in favor of Cas coming back. So you dopey little idiots can revote all you like on the Jeers poll, no one’s even looking at it anymore, what idiots you are lol.
“Dean’s “I need you” is to get the little bugger creep to STOP KLLING HIM! ”
@krissy then same can be said for the Stull scene in Swan Song, moron.
hands down, the crypt scene, you could literally hear the destiel fandom explode in tears and squees simultaneously !! 🙂
The comments have been hilarious to read! I like Cas and Dean together but hands down the Church scene of Dean and Sam is very powerful and it got my vote. Sorry but the crypt scene is just a rip off of Swan Song and a very poor one at that, even I knew that; for starters in the real Swan Song, Dean went to the cemetery so Sam wouldn’t be alone, Dean didn’t care if he died; where the crypt scene Dean did Not want to die or else a damaged Sammy would be left alone with demons and a psycho angel.
Supernatural Sacrifice’s church scene!
One of the most powerful and pure and full of heart scene between Sam and Dean without a doubt! Much more honest talk needs to happen between the brothers.
Unhealthy codependent relationship? Phfffft, I don’t watch television for the healthy.
Supernatural Sacrifice’s church scene!
One of the most powerful and pure and full of heart scene between Sam and Dean without a doubt! Much more honest talk needs to happen between the brothers. Jared and Jensen have an awesome chemistry that makes it work.
Unhealthy codependent relationship? Phfffft, I don’t watch television for the healthy.
The crypt scene. I’ve seen too many version of the same speech between Sam and Dean and everyone knows they’ll be fighting again by episode 2 next season. And I didn’t like how it sent Dean back to being all about Sam, sorry I’m bored of that and Dean’s better than that. let him hunt with Cas and Sam can do the research.
/shrug
@Amsie- Even in Dean’s sex dreams though, he’s dreaming about women. If his true orientation was gay or bisexual, wouldn’t that show up at some point in his sub conscience? Since this has never happened, I have to surmise that his’ true’ orientation is heterosexual. So it would seem to me that the writers would really have to go out of their way to explain how despite all this, Dean, by some strange fluke of the cosmos, managed to fall in love with a man. Perhaps as you say, the one true love can override one’s hard core sexual orientation, but it still seems to me like such an occurrence, even if possible, would be extremely rare. Ok, never say never but still. And it would have to be a very gradual thing that we would see Dean really struggling with.
Is there a way to know if the majority of fans want this or not?
I myself am not a Destiel shipper, though I have nothing against those who are. It’s just that to me,something like that should be a subplot; the main story should still be the relationship between Sam and Dean. I don’t dislike Cas, I just think he should remain a supporting character. Of course to me, it seems like Dean is, more and more, being written as a supporting character as well.
I feel that even Cas is given more regard from the writers than Dean is. So season 9 I expect it to be Sam and Cas as the leads while Dean is, once again thrown on the sidelines and only there to support the other two. I love Sam as well but as far I can see, he’s always given the meat of the storylines while Dean is only there to take care of him. Can’t they both have equal importance? Isn’t Dean worth anything as a character on his own independent of only existing for Sam and worrying about Cas? Hell, Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer stubbornly refused to even mention Dean most of the time last season while they talked endlessly about Sam and his issues, and a little about Cas. When people tried to directly get them to discuss Dean, Carver would instead talk about Sam some more. Why? Why does Carver dislike one of his own two leads so much while showering so much attention on the other one? And no, this does not mean I don’t love Sam or want him to suddenly be thrown to the sidelines( like Dean) I just want the writers and showrunner to remember they are supposed to have TWO equal leads and start evening things up. Too much to ask? We’ll see next season.
Sam and Dean scene in the “Sacrifice” finale, WOW! While powerful and heartbreaking, to me the scene is far from done because the boys desperately need to lay more honesty on the table. Destructive habits needs to stop or change or else the church scene will be all for nothing. Sam willing to live for Dean is just another variation of giving up his own dreams and pursuit of happiness to be by Dean’s side. Dean’s “screw the world, I want my brother alive” could be another AHBL when Dean had Sam stolen from heaven and returned to earth and giving the demons and angels another victory in their plans for starting the End of Days.
That other SPN scene on this poll? Boring and full of cringe; Dean (or Jensen rather) deserves so much better than this. Even Jensen said he didn’t think the crypt scene worked at all.
@Clare
There’s a name for a person like you, and that’s Pathological Liar. My TL is open to public viewing, so anyone who reads it can plainly see that you’re lying. A few of the people you listed, I don’t even talk to. The ones that I do talk to, respect my pov and the fact that I still like Cas. If any of the people I TALK to send so called ‘hate’ posts, I will (and have) unfollowed/blocked them. Those who remain on my TL I have not seen hateful posts from. Then again, I’m not always on. I do work and I do have a life. When I am online, I spend alot of time on other websites. Believe it or not, I do have interests outside of SPN. This is why I rarely see hateful posts on my TL if any pop up. I can’t see them if I’m not there, can I?
NONE of those I talk to spread lies about the J’s or their families. That’s not only a lie, that’s also called slander and can get YOU into a whole lot of trouble. The morons that do talk trash about the J’s and their families, I report and block.
You may not like some of the people I talk to, but that does not give you the right to attack (which you are) or spread lies about me. This isn’t the first time you’ve done this either. The moment you spot my name, you start with the nasty comments and blatant lies. Now, I’ve put up with it, until now. You keep up with the attacks and blatant lies, I’ll report you to more than just the website. Let me be crystal clear on this, I’m speaking to ONLY you Clare not anybody else.
I invite everyone else here to read my twitter TL for yourselves. You will see that I don’t participate in hate posts to anyone. I don’t harass anyone. I don’t speak to some of those listed. My tweets aren’t all SPN related either. You’ll also find that I also speak to Cas (some who happen to be destiel) fans. Instead of going by heresay, please look for yourselves.
When has Sam ever been willing to live for Dean? It’s DEAN that has lived and continues to live only for Sam. I guess Dean’s selfish because he DIED AND WENT TO HELL for Sam, right? Perhaps in retrospect he should have just let Sam go to Heaven (of course then there would be no show) and it’s true he was thinking more of his own grief over losing Sam and maybe in the long run that could be construed as a selfish motive, but his heart was in the right place.
Sam giving up his dreams for Dean? It didn’t sound like that to me. It sounds like the main reason Sam wanted to do the trials and close the hell gates was so that he could get out of hunting once and for all and have his dreams. Dean on the other hand, doesn’t get to have any dreams of his own except to see that Sam gets his.
And as much as I loved the church scene, I didn’t hear Sam say he was sorry for any of the many times he’s hurt Dean, only that he couldn’t let him down again, and it almost sounded like he was blaming Dean for the pain of that. While I felt for Sam, and Jared gave a heartbreaking performance, I think, for their relationship to truly be healed, it’s Sam’s turn to apologize for something. Dean always has to apologize for everything he ever does, and he should, but again, BOTH brothers have hurt eachother, and BOTH should say they’re sorry.
Dean and Sam in the church of the Supernatural finale when Sam reveal his deepest pain, his confession over letting Dean down.
Sam and Dean in the church of the Supernatural finale when Dean yells at Sam and nothing, past or present, has ever came before Sam.
DeanNSam in the church of the Supernatural finale when they still have that miscommunication going (I don’t think Dean fully understood where Sam was coming from)
SamNDean in the church of the Supernatural finale that makes this show great!
And I want to reiterate that, although I have been complaining alot here about what I see as the favoritism shown towards Sam by the writers and the showrunner, and I do believe Sam has been the one that has hurt Dean far more than vice versa, I still DO love Sam. I just want to see(A- Dean being treated as equally important with just as meaty of storylines and (B- Sam loving Dean as much as Dean has always loved Sam. I know it sounds from some from my posts like I am against Sam but I swear I am not. Just would like for the SPN folks to hold Dean in as high a regard. That being said, the church scene was my favorite.
Peace out.
Roxi, okaaaaay. I just looked above my post and saw your’s and that’s enough for me to NOT read any comments above your’s.
” I guess Dean’s selfish because he DIED AND WENT TO HELL for Sam, right? ”
Sam NEVER asked Dean to hell his soul because for starters he was dead. Man, we must be watching a difference show (or reading different fanfictions). Sam’s turn to apologize? Well, whatever, while we’re at it, it’s Dean’s turn to stop holding grudges on stuff that isn’t Sam’s fault like being soulless, that was Castiel’s fault. Okay, I’ll stop. Out. Of. Here.
I voted for Sam and Dean’s heart to heart talk in SPN finale.
Brennen’s beautiful proposal would have gotten my vote, left me puddle on the floor, but I think because we’ve seen many creative and heartfelt proposals in tv/movies/real life but not too many emotional blistering scenes between two brothers so ultimately I went with Supernatural’s finale.
I voted for the Dean and Cas scene. Although I’m sick and tired of Dean being beaten by his loved ones. It’s getting old writers.
You couldn’t pay me to vote for the Dean and Sam scene. I no longer enjoy that relationship, it’s disgustingly one-sided.
You’re right, it certainly wasn’t Sam’s fault that he was souless, and at the time, Dean NEVER held that against him and told him flat out that none of that was his fault so why Carver wrote that crap NOW doesn’t make any damned sense. I believe everybody agreed that this was totally stupid.
But come on, Sam has indeed betrayed Dean much more than Dean has ever betrayed him. And Dean is always apologizing for it.
I’ll assume you take Sam’s side on everything, so my argument is probably mute.
For me, when Dean is in the wrong, I will say it and hold him accountable.
I guess the church scene was supposed to be Sam’s way of saying he’s sorry, so I’ll move on. I only hope that from here on out, they can become close again like they once were.
And no, I don’t read fanfiction, and I guess I could also say we must be watching different shows. To each his own I guess.
Nobody ever said Sam asked Dean to sell his soul and die for him. Nobody, certainly not me, has ever blamed Sam for that. I just get tired of Dean being called selfish for this act. Yes, it can be said that he was selfish on one level for not wanting to lose Sam, but for this so-called selfish act, he DIED AND WENT TO HELL, so it would be ever so nice if some of his detractors actually gave him a break on this.
The church scene needed to happen, because although yes, I do think over the course of the series, Sam has done more to hurt Dean than vice versa, for the most part, he still showed that he loved Dean. Even after he nearly choked him to death before choosing Ruby, we later saw that he was broken up about it. But this season, at least in the first half, to me anyway, they wrote Sam as a totally different character, one who stopped giving a rat’s ass about the big brother who always made him his priority. That WASN’T Sam, and thew writers, I felt did him a terrible injustice, just like they did to Dean for having him make that douchebag text move. Overall, Jeremy Carver, to me, did a terrible job and went out of his way to destroy Sam and Dean’s loving bond. It’s true they still have a long way to go, but the church scene was a good start.
As for the scene in the crypt, I don’t know how I feel. I do think that it was Dean, not the tablet, that broke Naomi’s hold on Cas, but as much as I feel Dean was sincere in his saying he needed Cas, I feel he may also have said what he needed to to survive, and also, he needed Cas’s help with Sam.
Voting for Dean/Cas crypt scene because Misha and Jensen’s chemistry is amazing and I thought it was beautiful! As much as I love Dean and Sam, this season I feel like they’re back to codependency again. I feel like they both need to start growing and develop as characters but once again I was let down and now I’m stuck with the same old thing. Dean obviously loves Sam, would do anything for him, but it’s like Sam just does whatever the hell he wants with little regard about Dean’s feelings and Dean can’t even have a few friends without him throwing bitch fits. It made me dislike Sam this season and I use to love him. I hope next season they can focus on giving Dean an arch instead of putting focus entirely on Sam and Cas. Give them some friends instead of killing everyone off would be awesome to.
I voted for the Sam and Dean scene. Although I’m sick and tired of Dean making rules that doesn’t apply to himself (Amy Pond, Benny, Cas the apocalypse starter, etc) and Sam the perpetual scapegoat. It’s gets old, writers.
You couldn’t pay me to vote for the Dean and Cas scene. I no longer enjoy that relationship since season 5, it’s disgustingly one-sided and Cas continue to be the dumbest angel in the garrison.
Voted for the Sam and Dean’s heart-to-heart scene. Actually if I had it my way it would be the scene of Sam’s first confession in The Great Escapist when he tells Dean a buried childhood memory of his first realization that he was infected with demon blood, unclean and not pure. It was a startling revelation, and Sam looking both sad yet happy that he might be finally free of the demon blood but Dean is ambivalent because the purification process was likely killing his brother, and Dean was thinking that Sam’s suffering should have been his. Both brothers wanted to spare the other from suffering the Trials.
Dean and Cas, enough said. I could go on and on why I loved/perferred this scene (even tho I love Sammy) but its pretty much been covered.
this is to caseytiger, and I’m afraid a lot of the people you follow are tinhatters who trash the wives. Kelios is well known for it in fandom and so are the caro person and the dkny person the other poster here listed. not attacking you, I don’t know you. but those people are people you don’t want to mix with if you expect others not to rub your nose in it, sorry.
dean and castiel.nothing matches the chemistry jensen and misha have got going <3.
Louise
Thank you for being civil, I do appreciate that. To this day, I still have no idea what a tinhatter is. What the heck is it, because I have this mental image of someone running around wearing a tinfoil replica of the hat the Tinman wore in Wizard of Oz (lol).
I honestly have never seen any of those I talk to, trash the wives. I’ve seen many of those I talk to defend the wives. I know I’ve taken on that nutjob who believes she’s Jensen’s real wife. If there’s ever been a candidate for a straight jacket, it’s that loon.
I get that we all have people we don’t like, and I respect that. I just think it’s a bit immature to label someone just because they get along with people we may not like or suggest that they stop talking to someone to save face. I choose to be friends with them because they’ve gotten me through some pretty difficult times over the past 5 years. I don’t talk to them because of their views on SPN related things, it’s because we have common interests and life experiences.
I believe in getting to know someone before I form an opinion about them. That’s why I keep asking others to visit my twitter, get to know ME by talking to me or asking me questions. If you look through who I follow, you’ll see that there’s more then just those previously listed. I have other interests and am a fan of thing other then SPN.
I just think that nowadays, it’s easier for people to make assumptions about others than it is to take the time to get to know them. To me, that’s just all kinds of sad.
@caseytiger5, As a huge, huge fan of Castiel and the Dean/Castiel relationship, I’d just like to say thank you for your civil responses on here. I don’t know you at all, but the posts that I’ve seen from you on here have not been ugly or hateful. I certainly disagree with you on a lot of stuff, and even more so with some of those that you call friends, but it’d be a really wonderful world if we could all disagree and not be nasty about it.
@Clare, as a fellow lover of Castiel and Dean’s profound bond, can I respectfully ask that you not do the name calling stuff, please? I know, believe me I know, just how frustrating and horrible it is sometimes to be a Destiel fan or a Cas fan…I know what kinds of things that you hear over and over and how much you sometimes want to just lash back out, but let’s be better than that.
This is for all my fellow Destiel shippers and Cas fans…please don’t sink to the same level as those that you are “fighting” against. We don’t have to call people ugly names and we don’t have to say anything negative about Sam and Dean’s relationship. Let’s just try to ignore those we disagree with, and if you find yourself unable to do that, then take a deep breath, step away from the computer for a couple of minutes, and then try to respond as politely as you can. We can love Dean/Cas and Cas and whatever we want without name calling or hating/disliking other stuff and we can defend that which we love without resorting to being ugly about it.
Also, I really don’t think it is necessary to call out people’s names on here. Anyone that is very active within the Supernatural fandom already knows who is who and who says what. It doesn’t make any of us look any better by calling out the names of those that we’ve seen tweeting and commenting with rude, hateful words.
@Krissy, Oh honey, Dot is mostly definitely not the only Dean/Cas fan on here arguing against non-Destiel comments; there have definitely been more than just her. Furthermore, I can attest to the fact that there are so many Destiel fans that just don’t bother with the arguing because there is no point to it. People like you are never going to change your minds about Dean/Castiel and you’re never going to stop loudly espousing your negative opinions about their relationship or about Castiel, so many of my fellow fans don’t even bother trying anymore.
I understand that you dislike Destiel and that is fine, but please don’t attempt to spread inaccuracies like this. There are 250 comments on this poll alone right now and many of those comments, if you go back and read them all, are pro-Cas and pro-Destiel comments. Of course, there’s no way for me to prove that every single one of those comments wasn’t made by the same two or three people. Just as there is no way to prove that every negative comment about Dean/Cas wasn’t made by the same two or three people.
The fact is though that we don’t have to “spam” everything to make it look like Destiel is more popular than it is because it is a pretty popular pairing. And if you’ll remember in the nomination comments, a moderator posted there assuring people that they were tracking comments by other means than just email addresses, thus making it extremely difficult for anyone to “spam” the comment sections to get their favorite scene nominated on here. All five of these scenes are nominated here because they are fantastic scenes with many fans that love them.
“Most of the fandom hated the crypt scene” Could you please point me in the right direction where I can verify that information? I read many articles about that episode and that scene and I don’t remember most of the fandom hating it. I know there is a portion of the fandom that hated it, but I don’t think there is any way to gauge that this portion equals most of the fandom. That T.V. Guide poll that you mention was not, if I am remembering correctly, specifically about the scene, but more about how people felt about the return of Castiel in that particular episode.
Furthermore, on that T.V. Guide poll (that I see brought up time and time again), I urge you and anyone else to go there and read the comments underneath that poll. There are over 600 comments and an overwhelming majority of them were full of praise and love for Castiel, which makes it seem much more likely that it was a small, but determined group that voted the poll from it’s initial Cheers to Jeers. (And yes, I know for a fact that it was Cheers to begin with because I voted for that poll very early on and it was days later when I was informed that it had been down-voted to Jeers.) Unless of course, you think that all of us Cas fans made multiple Facebook accounts, with varying pictures of random people, to “spam” the comments of that poll.
Finally, perhaps you can only count the number of Destiel shippers you know on one hand because you just simply are not friends with Destiel shippers? I can count the number of Supernatural fans that I know (in real life) on one hand, but that doesn’t mean that Supernatural doesn’t have an extremely large fan-base. Most of the Supernatural fans that I know, I know only online, and since I am a Destiel fan, I know many, many Destiel shippers online because we enjoy the same thing and thus spend time together.
I don’t know anyone that watches Castle or ships Caskett, but that doesn’t mean that there are lots and lots of people out there that are Castle and/or Caskett fans. It just simply means that I don’t know them because I don’t watch that show myself and don’t interact with fans of it. 🙂
Crypt scene hands down. It was just heartrendingly beautiful and I had tears in my eyes when Dean tried so hard to snap Castiel out of his mindwashed episode.
Minion,
Thank you for the kind response. As far as I’m concerned, disagreeing with someone (especially civilly) is perfectly okay. Everyone is entitled to their own feelings and opinions. I can respect that others may not care for some that I have befriended. With all the people I talk to, some don’t get along with others. I respect that and keep them seperate from each other. Call me old fashioned, but I believe you can be friends with other people, even if some of those people don’t care for each other. It’s just a matter of respecting mutual boundries.
I would love to talk with other fans, I just don’t agree with being told I should stop talking with people I consider friends, in order for that to happen. I would never turn my back on someone I consider a friend, anymore than I would not give someone new a chance because I may disagree with their pov, that they ship or they’re friends with someone I may dislike.
Just because I may follow someone, doesn’t mean I’m friends with them. I’m just curious as to what other people are saying. I follow a few that I don’t agree with at all but respect their opinions. If I think what was said is out of line, I will toss in my two cents. I’m not shy about giving my opinion or calling someone out when I think a line’s been crossed. I try really hard to be respectful when I do.
I also try to be as honest as I can. Yes, I adore both brothers but I’m more of Dean fan. I just identify with him more. While I do like Castiel, I had a huge issue with the way he was written in seasons 6 and 7. I had a huge issue with the way the brothers were written in those seasons, too. I do consider Dean and Sam the core of the show, though other characters help to shape the show. I agree that they need solid characters like Cas, Bobby, Ellen, Jo, Ash,Benny and even Crowley to develop the brothers and evolve the show. I’m all for the boys having relations outside of each other. While I believe that the boys can and do have solid kinships outside of each other, the bond they share with each other is the strongest and most unbreakable. It’s what keeps them human. I think Dean has a strong and unique brothers in arm kinship with Castiel. Whereas Sam is Dean’s heart, Bobby the father he needed, Ellen a surrogate mother, I think Cas was the first real friend Dean ever had.
Those are just some of my personal thoughts on SPN.
@Minion just about your comment on the jeers thing, TVLine’s Cas poll, which was one vote per ISP, was resoundingly in favour of his return (more than 95%). Something the haters have selective amnesia over, much as they have selective amnesia over four seasons of profound bonding. I don’r really care if they don’t ship destiel but lbr here, denying there is even a friendship just makes them look ridiculous. 😛
@caseytiger Tinhatters are people who fantasise that J2 are involved as lovers. I’ve also heard this kelios person is one of the worst of them who has posted a lot of lies and slander about Jared’s son and also about Jensen’s little girl. She runs some sort of gossip forum about it all, it’s quite notorious.
Maria
Thank you for explaining that. I had a feeling it had to do with something along those lines. Since I only speak to people on my twitter, I’m only aware as to what is said on twitter. I do go on tumblr, but that’s mainly for my other interests. I have seen a few fans trying to ship the actors’ children and made it clear that I thought it was not only wrong, it was sick. In my opinion, ship adults all you want, but leave the children out of it.
HOW?! TELL ME HOW IS THE BETWEEN NICK AND JESS ON ‘NEW GIRL’ NOT HERE?!!!!! THERE ARE ENTIRE YOUTUBE VIDEO TRIBUTES TO IT! HOW?!!!!!

Dean and Cas in the crypt, best moment of the season along with their scenes in purgatory.
Dean and Sam in “Sacrifice”, that church scene was incredible, so raw and honest. The other SPN scene on the poll ( Dean and Cas in the crypt) was very weak and contrived, even Jensen Ackles said he didn’t think it worked since it was a very shoddy rip-off of another powerful Dean/Sam scene in a different finale.
Poor Cas, always getting the sloppy seconds.
Dean and Sam scene in the church, powerful stuff and even though it was very short, it left a searing impression for weeks afterwards. Seriously, people just couldn’t stop talking about the church scene and Jared Padalecki’s performance.
Sam and Dean heart-to-heart/soul-to-soul talk. Frankly it was too short and more needs to be said which I hope will happen during season 9. The church scene was a brilliant cap to a great season 8, especially in the second half when the Men of Letters legacy was introduced, the Trials, and Sam’s hidden emotional arc. Dean and Sam are the heart and soul, respectively, of Supernatural and they keep me watching through the up and downs (angels, blech!) of the series because Jared and Jensen just have an incredible chemistry that’s amazing to watch.
Dean Sam scene was sickening and the reason I won’t watch next season. Cas and Dean in the crypt was one of the few good moments during season 8. Their chemistry beats anything else and it’s a pity isn’t further explored and developed.
Dean Cas scene was sickening and the reason why I fast forward through all their scenes. Sam and Dean in the church was one of the great moments during season 8. Their chemistry beats anything else and it’s a pity that it was clamped down during season 6 & 7. I look forward to season 9 further exploring and developing Sam and Dean’s character and well as the Men of Letters family legacy.
Voting for Dean/Sam church scene because Jared and Jensen’s chemistry is amazing and the scene was beautiful! As much as I like(d) Cas, he keeps doing the same stupid mistake for over 3 seasons now and he never owned his actions of starting the apocalypse or causing 95% of Sam’s suffering, he never grows as a character and continues to do whatever the hell he wants with no regard to Dean. I came to really dislike the character in season 6 and this season hasn’t improved that. I hope next season they can focus on finishing up Cas’ storyline by coming clean with his own crime, give Dean closure, and stop victimizing Sam. Giving the Winchester brothers human friends in season 7 and 8 is a great start, and now I’m starting to think killing off Bobby was a good idea otherwise the brothers will continue to be too dependent on him for a father figure.
As a non-shipper it baffles me how people can stomach the brothers’ scene in the church, it was further digging in Dean’s self-worthlessness and left the bitter feeling that he doesn’t matter at all, Sam was awfully OOC being a selfish whiny brat and proof the writers and these bi-bro “fans” only care about Sam, they don’t give a shit about Dean anymore, and it’s sad to see him like this, turned into another tool, Sam’s man-servant. Good old times when he brighted in purgatory, and a waste of Jensen’s talent, being by far, better actor than Jared will ever be. Honestly, if spn takes this same path during next season I can see another debacle like s7 when they killed off Cas, then Bobby and the show become so unbearably boring the ratings drop off to their lowest ever.
Church scene hands down. It was just heartrendingly beautiful and I had tears in my eyes when Sam wanted to die just so he doesn’t disappoint his big brother again, and Dean trying so hard to reach Sam while knowing he had a part in pushing Sam into the suicidal spiral. Then Dean made that powerful proclamation while begging Sam to live. Kudos to Jared and Jensen, a pair of great actors.
As a non-shipper it baffles me how people can stomach the crypt scene and call Dean begging for his life as proof that Dean “loves” Cas, hello, he didn’t want to die! To the writers’ credit, they continue to make Castiel’s character consistent with his self-absorbness in that he didn’t care that he killed so many innocent people on earth and caused Sam to suffer untold centuries in Hell, but mess up heaven a little bit and it’s woe-woe-woe me. The writers don’t give a shit about Dean anymore since they lower his IQ by 50 points every time Castiel in on the scene because Cas is not the sharpest tool in the drawer so the writers dumb down Dean to make any of his scene with Castiel to remotely work. It’s a waste of Jensen’s talent who is miles and miles better actor than Misha. Killing off Cas in season 7 was one of the best thing SPN did.
Sam/Dean church scene in the finale. This has to the first SPN finale that didn’t make me want to hurl something at the television, the scene of falling burning angels was beautiful, though I hope they die on impact because they’re actually worse than demons.
Yeah yeah, co dependent, so “unhealthy” blah blah blah. Their codependency is what kept them alive and more importantly, sane, through out the years. We’ve seen hunters that went bonkers and die ugly deaths and those are usually solo hunters. Actually come to think of it, Dean’s first action as a solo hunter (father dead, Sammy dead) was to go bonkers and sell his soul to hell. Not sane at all.
Dean and Cas in the crypt, only true love could break through the mind control. Hoping to see Cas returning the ‘I need you’ in s9 finally both on the same page and together, cos when that happens they bring out the best of each other. So very tired of the writers always playing the controlled/possessed card to tear them apart. Love to see Dean and Cas working together in cases, hopefully many moments like that in s9, with TFW reunited.
Is attacking Jared really necessary to praise Jensen? You’re only proving what jealous petty losers his so called fans are. You are not an authority and is no more valid than my opinion, I think Jared is great and he really showed it more than ever in the finale.
Is attacking any actor really necessary to praise your favorite? Is attacking another scene or another character really necessary to praise your favorite? I don’t understand why people can’t just enjoy what they enjoy and not attack and criticize the other stuff. And that goes for Jensen fans, Jared fans, Misha fans, Dean fans, Sam fans, Cas fans, J2 fans, SamnDean fans, Cockles fans, DeannCas fans, whatever.
As a Supernatural fan, I am just ashamed of how some people in this fandom act. I don’t care if you ship or don’t ship. I don’t care if Dean is your favorite character, or Sam, or Cas, or if Mr. Fizzles is your favorite Supernatural character. Can we all please just use a little human decency and not attack other people and what they love?
It especially just blows my mind to see anyone attack one of the actors from Supernatural. Jesus, do a little research on these men, please. Look at how much they appreciate and love their fans. Look at what kind of work they do for charity. And you’re going to talk crap about them because of a television show and fictional characters?
For everyone in this comment section that did praise their favorite without attacking something else, that kept their comments positive and nice and didn’t descend into petty, ugliness- thank you.
I wish the very best of luck to the fans of all five of these scenes, which were all amazing scenes or they would not have been nominated by fans in the first place!
The Dean/Cas scene, true love conquers all.
