THE VAMPIRE DIARIES at Comic-Con: Live-Blog

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES gang will be at Comic-Con today to talk about what comes next, and I’ll be live-blogging all the goodness starting at 4:30 PM PT.

In the meantime, here’s the official panel description: “Making their fang-tastic fifth appearance at Comic-Con, the cast and creative team behind The Vampire Diaries vamp it up in San Diego! Series stars Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Paul Wesley (Roll Bounce), Ian Somerhalder (Lost), Candice Accola (Juno), and Kat Graham (Honey 2) join executive producers/writers Julie Plec (The Originals, Kyle XY) and Caroline Dries (Melrose Place) on stage for a video screening and Q&A session. The CW’s #1 series returns in the fall for its fifth season, promising twists, turns and-of course-(love) triangles in this new chapter for our heroes, post-graduation. From Bonanza Productions Inc., Outerbanks Entertainment, and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW, and The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season will be released on Blu-ray combo pack, DVD and UltraViolet in September.”

4:42: We’re just starting now. Starting off with a video presentation. Showcasing Elena’s relationships with both Stefan and Damon. Ooh, and we also got a sneak peek at what’s to come with Silas-as-Stefan tries to control a town square.

4:48: Introduction time now!

4:51: Do Damon and Elena have a chance at happily ever after? Julie says that being happy isn’t boring (she cites Meredith and Derek on GREY’S ANATOMY as an example of a happy, interesting couple) and the goal is to keep Damon and Elena happy and together for a bit. As for his reaction to getting the news that Damon would get the girl, Ian says he was surprised. “I thought they were joking; Damon never gets the girl,” Ian says. “I’m so glad I didn’t get the girl!” Paul jokes. Nina seems a bit surprised by that, but Paul clarifies that he loves working with Nina, but he likes getting to be evil.

4:54: Paul says he knew for a while that Silas was Stefan’s double and Ian jokingly points out that Paul lied to him for months.

4:56: Will Silas be the big bad this season? Julie points out that very rarely does the big bad launch the season, much to Paul’s chagrin. “Just when you think you’re at the top of the food chain!” Paul says.

4:58: Is Elena actually going to college? Yes. But Paul has a question about that: “Why are we pursuing higher eduction? We’re all murderers!” Ian jokingly points out he might not be setting the best example.

5:00: Caroline is really excited about college, and Candice says that her character is determined to get Tyler there so they can be reunited. When much of the room boos, Candice asks if there are any Caroline/Tyler fans, and she does get a few cheers. But there is the tease that there might be a new man (or men) in Caroline’s life. (But no, no men for Elena; as Nina points out, Elena’s in a serious relationship.)

5:02: Kat says fans should expect a lot of “Beremy” moments in the new season. But how long will she be able to keep her secret? “You’ll have to watch,” Kat teases.

5:04: “We do that in page one and page two,” of how Jeremy’s resurrection is explained. Elena helps him get his story straight. And with Elena off at college, Jeremy and Damon will be rooming together.

5:05: A fan just yelled out that he loved Ian, and then quasi-propositioned him. Ian says he loves this crowd.

5:06: “If I had to say the word ‘cure’ one more time, I was going to jump off our stage building,” Ian says of being relieved the cure has been taken at this point.

5:07: Fan question time! First up: does Nina think it was unfair for Elena to give the cure to someone who wouldn’t appreciate it? Nina calls it “the ultimate revenge” given all of what Katherine did to Elena.

5:09: Will there ever be a VAMPIRE DIARIES movie? “We’ve shot about 89 movies, I think,” Julie says. She says they have nothing to do with it, but they approach every episode as if it’s a movie.

5:10: With episode 100 approaching, are there any plans for that? “If I even breathe a word of it, it will be such a spoiler,” Julie says. Ian jokes it’s going to be “a nude musical episode.”

5:12: “She wears too much makeup,” Nina says of Katherine, citing the hair and makeup as one of the difficulties of playing Katherine.

5:13: “Klaus went and got his own damn show,” Ian says in a response to a fan question about whether Klaus will come back to TVD. Julie says Klaus will have his hands full in New Orleans, but the question is whether Caroline will make the trip to see him.

5:14: “The best way to get on Julie’s good side in the writers’ room is to pitch scenes with Alaric,” Caroline says of her co-writer when a fan asks whether we’ll see more dead people now that Bonnie is over there.

5:15: A fan is sharing that she’s trying to not have her daughter date until she goes to college, and the panel seems shocked. Nina says that since Elena has dated so many of the boys already, so it’s a bit of a moot point.

5:18: If they could bring back from the dead, who would it be? Julie says Alaric, Ian says “my drinking buddy” (AKA Alaric), and Kat says Gram. Now there’s a debate about whether there are dates on the other side, etc.

5:20: Fan wants to know who they’d kill off if they could kill off anyone? The panel is impressed by the question. “I think we all love each other, though,” Ian says. “I would kill someone on the show; I won’t tell you guys who,” Paul says.

5:22: Ian thanks the fans for being supportive “even when our storylines or acting suck.”
