The fall season — and the glut of new shows it will bring — may still be about a month away, but that hasn’t stopped Fox from ordering its first series of the upcoming season: a comedy from 30 ROCK’s Tina Fey, Matt Hubbard, and Robert Carlock.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (which was one of several outlets to report the order), the project is an untitled multicamera comedy, which “takes place at a women’s college that has just opened its doors to men for the first time.” But sorry Fey fans, there’s no plans for her to star in this series.
While it’s still super, super, super early in the process, does the show sound like something that might intrigue you?

The Little Mermaid is coming to ONCE UPON A TIME!
Less than a month after Ariel’s arrival was teased at Comic-Con, an ABC rep confirms that former REBA/BETTER WITH YOU star JoAnna Garcia will guest star on the ABC series. According to TV Guide Magazine (who was first to report the news), Ariel will first show up in episode six.
Are you excited to see Garcia as Ariel?

According to E! Online (who was first to report the casting), Cruz will play NYPD detective Gina Mendez, who works closely with Mike Weston — one of the few season 1 FBI survivors — when a new crime wave hits the city. Cruz will make her THE FOLLOWING debut in the show’s second season premiere.
THE FOLLOWING returns in early 2014.

SUPERNATURAL: Jared Padalecki on Sam’s Season 9 Goal, Misha Collins Directing, What He’s Excited About, and More

Given that Sam was in pretty bad shape when SUPERNATURAL ended last season, it’s not a huge that surprise that series star Jared Padalecki (Sam) told reporters at Comic-Con that “the way Sam heals involves a big secret.”
And while he kept mostly mum on that, Padalecki was able to share a few other teases about what’s to come in SUPERNATURAL’s upcoming ninth season…

BONES is gearing up to have one of its biggest seasons ever as the show gets ready to marry off Booth and Brennan…and potentially make the move to Friday night.
To gear up for that, I caught up with BONES creator Hart Hanson to talk about the reasoning for being upfront about the upcoming wedding, paying off a lot of unresolved questions, moving to Fridays, and more…

The SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE contestants got an added boost this week when they were partnered up with All-Stars. And while it would have been understandable for some of the dancers to bend under the pressure that brings, instead, we got incredible dance numbers from every duo.

TNT has renewed MAJOR CRIMES, PERCEPTION, and RIZZOLI & ISLES, the network announced today. Each show was picked up for a 15-episode season, with a planned summer 2014 debut. (They join the previously picked-up FALLING SKIES.)
“TNT has had a terrific summer with four big hits that have drawn viewers with great storytelling, engaging characters and outstanding performances,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in a statement. “With the renewals of RIZZOLI & ISLES, MAJOR CRIMES, FALLING SKIES and PERCEPTION, TNT has built an incredibly strong arsenal of scripted series. And it’s only going to get stronger with the addition of MOB CITY and the return of DALLAS this winter, not to mention the debuts of THE LAST SHIP and LEGENDS next summer.”
Which renewal are you most excited about?

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star Ricardo Chavira has a new comedy coming to our televisions this fall — NBC’s WELCOME TO THE FAMILY — and a familiar co-star will be popping up in the first batch of episodes: Chavira’s former on-screen wife, Eva Longoria!
NBC has confirmed that Longoria will appear in an episode that is currently set to air in mid-October. According to Deadline (who was first to report the casting), Longoria will play Ms. Nunez, the English teacher of Chavira’s on-screen son…and who shared a romantic history with Chavira’s character, Miguel.

Comments Off on BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Dean Winters to Guest Star
Dean Winters has a good amount of experience playing a cop (most recently on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT as Cassidy), and now he’s going to use that on a new show: BROOKLYN NINE-NINE!
A Fox rep has confirmed that Winters — who has also appeared on 30 ROCK and starred in RESCUE ME — will appear in an upcoming episode of the new comedy series. According to EW.com (who was first to report the casting), Winters will play Warren Pembroke, a man “who works for the Major Crimes Unit and has a rivalry with goofy-but-skilled detective Jake (played by series star Andy Samberg).”
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE debuts Tuesday, September 17th at 8:30 PM on Fox.

GLEE: Ryan Murphy on How the Show Will Handle Finn’s Death
August 15, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
Fox boss Kevin Reilly had initially indicated that GLEE would handle series star Cory Monteith’s death by having his on-screen character, Finn, die in a way that touched on real events (Monteith died due to an accidental overdose), GLEE co-creator Ryan Murphy has shared the series won’t be heading in that direction.
“There were a lot of things that we had to decide — how are we going to deal with his death?” Murphy told Deadline in an interview. “At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose — that was something we had considered. But we have decided that we’re not going to have him pass from that. Basically, what we’re doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, ‘This episode is about a celebration of that character’s life.’ That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way.”
Personally, I’m really, really happy the show is going this way. But what do you think?

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Billy Miller will guest star on an upcoming episode of CASTLE, an ABC rep confirms.
According to CBS Soaps In Depth (which first reported the casting news), Miller will play Mickey Gerhardt, a “hot-headed Wall Street banker who gets caught in a hostage situation.”
When I spoke with CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe last month about what was to come, this episode was one of the ones he singled out.
