ARROW: Colton Haynes and Emily Bett Rickards Tease Season 2

August 14, 2013 by

Roy and Felicity might not have been around when ARROW kicked off, but during the course of the first season, the characters — and their portrayers, Colton Haynes (Roy) and Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity) — made quite the impression. So much so that both Haynes and Rickards are officially series regulars when the show returns for its sophomore season in October.

At Comic-Con, the two real-life friends showed off a few dance moves, and then got down to serious business — teasing what’s to come on ARROW.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Debbie Allen on the Top 10 Performance Show and the Latest Eliminations

August 14, 2013 by

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE had one of the strongest performance shows in recent memory as the season 10 top 10 were joined by All-Star partners.

Unfortunately, that made for some brutal cuts last night.

After the show, I spoke with executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe, judge Mary Murphy, and guest judge Debbie Allen about the quality of dancing, losing two more dancers, and more…

Comments Off on GREY’S ANATOMY: Sandra Oh to Exit After Season 10

GREY’S ANATOMY is about to lose one of its original core cast members: reps for the show confirm that Sandra Oh (Cristina) will exit the show at the end of the upcoming 10th season. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.

“It’s been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on GA and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her,” Oh said in a statement. “It was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda and the writers. It’s so rare in an actor’s life to be able to explore and grow a character so fully, so completely. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at GA for the opportunity. I’m excited to celebrate and cherish every moment of my final season on GA with the fans who have made it all possible.”

Comments Off on THE ORIGINALS: Joseph Morgan on the ‘Incredibly Rewarding Opportunity’ to Further Explore Klaus

When Joseph Morgan joined THE VAMPIRE DIARIES in its second season, it could have been easy to expect that his character, Klaus, wouldn’t stick around for long: he was a Big Bad on a show that is notorious for offing both good and bad guys. But Klaus — and his Original family — managed to (mostly) survive for more than two full seasons in Mystic Falls before heading out to New Orleans in the upcoming TVD spinoff, THE ORIGINALS.

At Comic-Con, Morgan talked with reporters about the “incredibly rewarding opportunity” to dig deeper into Klaus in the new show…

Comments Off on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: What Makes a Good Guest Judge? Nigel Lythgoe, Cat Deeley, Travis Wall, and Tabitha Dumo Weigh In

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE changes the judging dynamic a bit every week by adding a guest judge (or judges) to the established panel of Nigel Lythgoe (who is also an executive producer) and Mary Murphy. Sometimes it works (see: Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Christina Applegate, or Anna Kendrick), and others times…not so much.

During the recent Television Critics Association set visit to SYTYCD, I asked the panelists what they thought made a good guest judge for the series…

NASHVILLE Season 2 Promo

August 13, 2013 by

NASHVILLE went all out with soapy drama for its first season finale — and concluded with Rayna and Deacon getting into a car crash.

So what comes next? The season 2 promo (which debuted last night during ABC’s airing of the CMA Music Festival) shows Rayna is in pretty bad shape…

The Mother is about to become a major part of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER — but while we know for sure she’ll be meeting up with Ted’s friends before she meets her future husband, how much of her life we’ll see in the final season is a bit of a question mark.

To try and get a little bit of a hint of what’s to come, HIMYM co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas talked with reporters at Comic-Con about getting more flashforwards than ever in season 9, how much of the mother’s life we’ll see pre-her meeting Ted, and more…

Comments Off on SUPERNATURAL Nabs WHODUNNIT? Host Gildart Jackson for a Guest Spot

WHODUNNIT? host Gildart Jackson has spent all summer playing a butler, Giles, on the ABC competition series, but he’s about to get a whole new role to tackle: a CW rep has confirmed that Jackson will appear on an upcoming episode of SUPERNATURAL.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (who was first to report the casting), Jackson will appear in episode four and play Haggerty, “a veteran member of the Men of Letters, and appear during a 1930 flashback.”

Personally, as someone who has been way too enthusiastic about WHODUNNIT? this summer, I’m thrilled by this casting. How about you?

SUPERNATURAL season 9 kicks off Tuesday, October 8th at 9 PM.

Lea Michele and the GLEE Cast Pay Tribute to Cory Monteith at the Teen Choice Awards

Comments Off on Lea Michele and the GLEE Cast Pay Tribute to Cory Monteith at the Teen Choice Awards

One of the most heartbreakingly honest moments of last night’s Teen Choice Awards was when the GLEE cast took the stage to accept their award for Choice TV Show: Comedy, and immediately after GLEE star Lea Michele (Rachel) was awarded Choice TV Actress: Comedy…less than one month after the tragic death of GLEE star Cory Monteith (Finn). (Michele and Monteith were also dating at the time of his death.)

Take a look at what they had to say about their fallen friend and co-star…

Comments Off on THE FOLLOWING: Connie Nielsen Added As a Series Regular

With Claire’s fate on THE FOLLOWING potentially up in the air (though the clip that was shown at Comic-Con seemed to indicate one particular outcome), Ryan Hardy will have another woman enter his life when the series returns: Connie Nielsen (recently of BOSS and LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT) has been cast as in the series regular role Lily Gray, a Fox rep has confirmed. TVLine was the first to report the news.

So who is this new character? Lily is a Soho art dealer, who finds herself in trouble…only to have Ryan come to her assistance. But when the two begin to bond, things get a bit problematic. (Is it wrong I’m already suspicious of her?)

THE FOLLOWING is set to return in early 2014.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: Josh Radnor and Pamela Fryman on Meeting the Mother, Ted/Robin, and More

August 9, 2013 by
Filed under #1 featured, HIMYM, How I Met Your Mother

For eight seasons, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER teased Ted’s near-misses with the titular mother, but in season 9 — the comedy’s final year — she’ll be a regular presence on the show. The only catch is while the audience has met Cristin Milioti’s as-yet-named character, Ted and his friends have yet to come face-to-face with her.

At Comic-Con, Josh Radnor (Ted) and director/executive producer Pamela Fryman talked with reporters about Milioti’s presence on the show, her casting, and that little Robin/Ted cliffhanger…

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s final season kicks off Monday, September 23rd at 8 PM on CBS.
