THE NEWSROOM: Jeff Daniels Reiterates the Series Will Return for Season 3
September 22, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
More than two weeks ago, THE NEWSROOM star Jeff Daniels tweeted, “It’s official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3.” However, since then, HBO has yet to make an announcement that the series will return, despite the fact that the season 2 finale has already aired.
After Daniels won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series on Sunday, he reiterated that the show would be coming back — and that HBO had given him the okay to release the news.
“We’re going to come back, we just don’t know when yet,” Daniels told reporters backstage at the Emmys. “They’re trying to work it out with [THE NEWSROOM creator] Aaron [Sorkin] and HBO’s airing — when they want to air it. I was about to do [THE TONIGHT SHOW with] Leno, and so we called HBO and went, ‘What’s up? What if it comes up? What do I say?’ And they said, ‘Absolutely, say you’re coming back, you just don’t know when.’ So that’s what I tweeted.”
