About Last Night…ARROW, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, IRONSIDE, and More

Wednesday’s TV always seems like it’s fairly easy to tackle…and yet I haven’t managed to watch it all in one night yet. Maybe next week? In the meantime, let’s talk about a few of last night’s shows…

ARROW: Um, where does the show go from here? Obviously, everyone can’t find out Oliver’s secret, but I honestly have no clue how the heck Oliver is going to get out of being surrounded by police — after Laurel trapped him — but I can’t wait to find out. And it should be fun to have Roy feeding tips to Team Arrow…how long until he’s let in on the secret?

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: There was a case (and an interesting one), but the hour was all about Munch leaving for me. In the show’s earlier years, his partnership with Fin was the constant source of humor, and while Richard Belzer (Munch) has significantly decreased his time on the show over the past few years, it’s strange to think he won’t be around the squad anymore. Here’s hoping he pops up a fair amount in his new role at the DA’s office.

NASHVILLE: I just don’t care about half of these characters at this point. It feels like the music has gone downhill. But the nicest surprise this season has been how compelling Juliette has been. She’s been more enjoyable than…pretty much else. Season 1 Juliette would have used Rayna’s paternity secret against her, so it’s nice to see Juliette simply just taking care of another human being.

IRONSIDE: How the heck did NBC not showcase Seth Gabel is ONE promo? He wasn’t mentioned in the press release about the episode, wasn’t in episodic stills, wasn’t in the promos. Sigh. It was fun to see him pop up on the show, because his character definitely felt a bit like he was Jeremy Darling-esque (Gabel’s DIRTY SEXY MONEY character, a show which IRONSIDE star Blair Underwood also starred in). And how great was it to get to see Teddy get a little more air time? It was nice to see Ironside doubting himself and his abilities as a mentor/boss and Teddy struggling a bit to get his footing. (I wonder if Teddy thinking about transferring will come up again? Or maybe they’ll let that be for a bit.)
