Report: CBS Looking to Spin Off HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
October 30, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is in its highly-publicized final year, but it seems CBS might not be so keen on letting it go: Deadline is reporting that the network is in talks to spin off the comedy.
The twist? While the new characters would potentially appear in HIMYM’s final season to help launch the new show, they wouldn’t be any of the established characters we’ve come to know. Which means if you were hoping to have a series following The Mother for her take on all the near-misses she had with Ted, it appears that won’t be happening. (It seems the biggest tie between the original show and the potential new show would be that the new characters might visit MacLaren’s Pub.)
Personally, while I’m OK with the HIMYM world existing beyond this season, it bums me out a bit that more new characters might be forced into this season. The format is challenging enough as it is, and the thought of devoting some of those final precious moments to unconnected newbies is unappealing as of now.
