Fox Cuts the Episode Order for US & THEM

Comments Off on Fox Cuts the Episode Order for US & THEM

Fox has opted to shorten the episode order of its freshman comedy, US & THEM, a rep for the network confirmed.

According to Deadline (who was first to report the news), US & THEM took an early hiatus to work on some scripts — after completing six episodes of a planned 13-episode first season — and the network opted to not resume production for the rest of the episodes.

US & THEM is based on the BBC series GAVIN AND STACEY, and the Fox version is set to star Alexis Bledel and Jason Ritter. As of now, there’s no premiere date for the filmed episodes.

ONCE UPON A TIME: Jennifer Morrison, Michael Raymond-James, Colin O’Donoghue, and Eddy Kitsis Weigh in on the Emma-Hook-Neal Triangle

October 11, 2013 by
Filed under #1 featured, Once Upon A Time

Many of the relationships on ONCE UPON A TIME are fairly simple with obvious rooting intentions (ex: Snow and Charming, Belle and Rumple), but for Emma Swan, her romantic life has always caused a bit of debate between fans.

In season 3, things are a bit up in the air for Ms. Swan as she (falsely) believes that Neal — who also happens to be the father of her missing son, Henry — is dead, and one of the people who is on Neverland trying to help her find Henry is Hook, with whom she’s had a bit of a reluctant spark with since they met last year. And while the timing is not really right for romance, will sparks be flying for either couple anyway?

“Obviously they think Neal is dead,” OUAT co-creator Eddy Kitsis told reporters last month. “Obviously Hook is a man who likes ladies. And as we saw last year when [they] climbed the beanstalk, Emma has probably captured his heart a little bit. But in the same respect, we see that Neal is fighting like hell to get a second chance with her. And right now, I think Emma is focused on getting Henry.  She’s not someone who likes to let her walls down, and her heart’s been broken too many times for her to kind of be worried about dating right now. But we’ll see. She’s got two handsome guys.”

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND: What You Need to Know About the New ABC Series

October 10, 2013 by
Filed under Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

Comments Off on ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND: What You Need to Know About the New ABC Series

There are approximately one million new shows debuting this season*, and it’s going to get difficult to keep track of them all.

To help you out, for every new show, I’m going to basically create a hub of info on the day of the premiere — pilot photos, my quick take on the pilot (or what I’ve seen so far), what’s been written about it so far, and when you can watch it.

Next up, ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND…

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND

Image 1 of 8

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND - "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" stars Sophie Lowe ("Beautiful Kate") as Alice, Michael Socha ("This Is England") as Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot ("The Forbidden Girl") as Cyrus, Emma Rigby ("Hollyoaks") as Queen of Hearts and John Lithgow ("3rd Rock from the Sun") as the voice of the White Rabbit. "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" was written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Once Upon a Time"), who serve as executive producers. Steve Perlman and Zack Estrin also serve as executive producers, and the pilot was directed by Ralph Hemecker. "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" is produced by ABC Studios. (ABC/Jack Rowand)MICHAEL SOCHA, SOPHIE LOWE

*Maybe not scientifically correct. But close enough.

ABC’s description: “Alice returns home to her father telling her that everyone thought she was dead. Her imaginative stories about a talking White Rabbit and a mystical place called Wonderland end up getting her admitted into an asylum where Dr. Lydgate convinces her to have a procedure that will allow her to forget her pain. Right before the operation is set to take place she is rescued by the Knave of Hearts who takes her to the rabbit who informs her that her true love Cyrus is still alive. As the trio then jumps into the portal returning to Wonderland, Alice sets out on a quest to find him but the villainous Jafar and the Red Queen have other plans for her.”

My take: The version I saw was very unfinished in terms of effects, so I’m really looking forward to actually seeing how it looks tonight. Aside from that, this new version of the Alice tale shows potential, but it does seem — at least in the pilot — a little younger than the ONCE mothership. I’m curious to see how this plays out and how dark the show will allow itself to go.

And the links to catch up on:

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND premieres tonight at 8 PM on ABC.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND: Sophie Lowe, Emma Rigby, and Peter Gadiot Preview the New ABC Series

October 10, 2013 by
Filed under Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

Comments Off on ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND: Sophie Lowe, Emma Rigby, and Peter Gadiot Preview the New ABC Series

Just like ONCE UPON A TIME has recontextualized what we know of many popular fairytale characters, ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND will show viewers an entirely new side to the “Alice in Wonderland” tale.

“Well she’s grown up now and she’s strong,” Sophie Lowe (Alice) teased to reporters on the show’s Vancouver set last week. “She’s learned how to fight, and she knows how to look after herself. I think when you grow up, you kind of see your family and your parents in a different light, and I feel like she’s going through that. When you’re little you only see your parents and you think of your parents as God, and then when you grow up you realize that they’re just like you and they have fears as well, and so she just kinds of starts to believe herself and stop trying to convince everyone and just kind of follow her heart. So she’s a woman now, and she can kick ass.”

Those ass-kicking skills will likely be massively needed when Alice returns to Wonderland and realizes that she has quite a few people who are invested in what she does next. Among them? The Red Queen, whom Alice holds responsible for the “death” of her true love, Cyrus, whom Alice fell for during one of her stints in Wonderland. But the Red Queen’s portrayer, Emma Rigby, cautioned that her character might not be all bad.
