SLEEPY HOLLOW: ‘Necromancer’ You Ask, I Answer

Comments Off on SLEEPY HOLLOW: ‘Necromancer’ You Ask, I Answer
SLEEPY HOLLOW has been consistently upping its game every week, and tonight’s episode, “Necromancer,” is not an exception. In fact, I’d argue it’s most important episode the show has done so far.
In honor of tonight’s episode, I answered a few of your burning questions about SLEEPY HOLLOW. (And, in case you’ve never read one of my “You Ask, I Answer”s before, the intention of these is to tease, not ruin. So I’m not going to tell you every single thing that goes down. Apologies if that’s what you were hoping for.)
On to the teases!

The CW Opts to Make THE FLASH Pilot a Standalone Hour

Comments Off on The CW Opts to Make THE FLASH Pilot a Standalone Hour
The Flash plans for ARROW have changed.
Originally, The Flash (who will be played by Grant Gustin) was set to have a three-episode arc on ARROW (episodes 8, 9, and 20), with the final hour serving as a backdoor pilot that introduced us more extensively to Barry Allen’s world. However, a CW rep has confirmed that while the first two episodes of the arc will play out as planned (with Barry/The Flash coming to Starling City), the official backdoor pilot (episode 20) will now be made as an official, separate pilot. (Meaning, you’ll only see it if The CW opts to pick the show up to series.) There’s no word yet on what ARROW will do with the episode, now that it won’t be featuring The Flash.
The change was first reported by Deadline.
Are you sad we’re getting less of The Flash on ARROW?

ALMOST HUMAN: What You Need to Know About the New Fox Series

There are approximately one million new shows debuting this season*, and it’s going to get difficult to keep track of them all.
To help you out, for every new show, I’m going to basically create a hub of info on the day of the premiere — pilot photos, my quick take on the pilot (or what I’ve seen so far), what’s been written about it so far, and when you can watch it.
Next up, ALMOST HUMAN…

ALMOST HUMAN premieres tonight, and the series takes us 35 years in the future — crime has skyrocketed, and to help combat it, humans have mandatory orders to work with android partners.
And yet, ALMOST HUMAN creator J.H. Wyman (who also showran FRINGE for multiple seasons) is hopeful about the future.
When I spoke with Wyman about his new show, I was curious about his thoughts about what set it apart from the other procedurals or pieces of futuristic fiction out there…and he had a very thoughtful answer for me:

ALMOST HUMAN: Karl Urban on the Appeal of the Show, Working with Michael Ealy, and More
November 16, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Almost Human
ALMOST HUMAN star Karl Urban has spent most of the last decade of his career working on movies (he previously was Caesar on XENA and HERCULES), so it took a very special project to draw him back into the television world.
“It was obviously, firstly, having the opportunity to work with J.J. [Abrams, Urban’s STAR TREK director and ALMOST HUMAN executive producer] again, whom I absolutely adore,” Urban told me of deciding to take the role of John Kennex on the Fox series, a futuristic buddy-cop drama. “I think he’s one of the most talented artists currently working in film and television. [And ALMOST HUMAN creator,] Joel Wyman, I was a huge fan of [his work on] FRINGE, so that was a huge draw.”
“And then it was, quite simply, reading the script and getting drawn into this world and getting drawn into the character of Kennex,” he continued. “A character who is damaged goods, a character who is trying to reclaim his life; a life that was stolen from him…living in a coma for two years [after an injury sustained during an ambush], and then coming back from that, trying to pick up the pieces. For me, that’s a really interesting starting point.”
And while ALMOST HUMAN is getting the latest start of all the new network fall dramas, Urban was gratified by the response the show’s first episode got at this summer’s Comic-Con panel.
CBS Orders HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Spinoff Pilot, HOW I MET YOUR DAD

Comments Off on CBS Orders HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Spinoff Pilot, HOW I MET YOUR DAD
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER may be in its final season, but CBS is looking to continue on with the series in a slightly different capacity: the network has officially ordered a pilot for HOW I MET YOUR DAD, a spinoff of HIMYM.
The spinoff news was first reported a couple weeks back, with the initial plan to introduce the new characters (who have no real tie to the existing characters in the HIMYM universe) in one of the show’s final episodes. Now, it seems like the plan may have shifted, and they’ll shoot a standalone pilot which may or may not make the 2014-2015 CBS schedule.
What do you think? Are you intrigued by the idea of a HIMYD series?

BONES Recap: ‘The Fury in the Jury’
November 15, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans, and welcome to our first Friday night discussion! Marisa and I discussed why the move to Fridays wasn’t such a bad thing (and you can read that here), and I have to say the show picked a good episode in “The Fury in the Jury” for the Friday night debut.
I really only had two main issues with this episode:
- While it’s not impossible that Brennan is an almost expert-level sketch artist of the human skeleton, as far as I know, this is the first time we’ve seen that skill of hers, making it somewhat implausible. It served the plot, and I can absolutely see where she would analyze the skeletal structures of everyone in the room when she’s bored, but I thought it was a bit of a stretch.
- It’s also not like Brennan to want to force evidence to match who she wants to be the killer. There was a dichotomy in her character when she was on the jury vs. afterward, when she wanted revenge on Kidman. I think it was a combination of her pride/guilt and wanting justice. I found it more plausible than the sketch artist thing, but still just a little bit off.
Other than that, I really liked this episode. Let’s discuss!

Former THE X-FILES star Nicholas Lea will appear on upcoming episodes of ARROW, a rep for the show confirmed.
According to TVLine (who was first to report the casting), Lea will play Mark Francis, an associate of Walter Steele (Moira’s ex-husband), who will have “a crucial part” in what happens next for Moira after the conclusion of her trial.
Lea is currently set to appear in episodes 12 and 13.
Hm…any good theories?

THE KILLING lives on.
Netflix has inked a deal to stream a six-episode final season, they announced earlier today.
“The rich, serialized storytelling in THE KILLING thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix in a statement. “We are looking forward to offering fans – both existing and new – a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing.”
