ALMOST HUMAN: How Many Episodes Will the First Season Have?

January 2, 2014 by

ALMOST HUMAN’s first season will consist of 13 episodes, a rep for the show confirmed.

The futuristic drama joins fellow Fox newbie SLEEPY HOLLOW, upcoming dramas RAKE and GANG RELATED, and returning drama, THE FOLLOWING, in the network’s slate of shorter-run seasons. (Fox is also trying its hand at limited “event series” with this summer’s 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY, GRACEPOINT, and WAYWARD PINES.)

It’s too soon to know whether ALMOST HUMAN will get a second season, but the rep confirmed it was in contention for the 2014-2015 season.

ALMOST HUMAN returns with new episodes on Monday, January 6th at 8 PM on Fox.

    Aw, man, it doesn’t look for AH. Stupid Fox.

    Really? They’re getting another season? Surprising since the show is meh.

    FOX better give me my second season, it’s starting to really pick up. It was always suppose to have 13 episodes though so that’s not a surprise. FOX has stated some time before they aren’t in the business of having 22 episode seasons anymore. I’m glad it’s in contention, the show really deserved better than a late November airing.

    A 13 Episode run is decent for a fledgling show and good for testing the waters, as the saying goes. What isn’t good is shuffling all 13 episodes around like jigsaw puzzle pieces and screwing with the development of the show and turning of a potential audience due to inconstant character interaction and story.

    A late debut, scheduling it against The Voice, having it be the lead in for their senior show, Sleepy Hollow instead of the other way around. Really, it’s like FOX sets up their shows to fail by ratings. Thus far, Almost Human has been getting relatively positive feedback even with the scrambled episodes.

    It is John and Dorian that have been carrying the series and that is what the early episodes focus on.

    @daen

    Perhaps FOX really is slamming the brakes on 22 episode seasons, but Karl Urban did say earlier in the Fall that the plan for Almost Human was 22. It wasn’t always supposed to have 13.

    @Ashok

    No, it was always supposed to be 13 episodes. Since the very first release it was stated the show would have a first season of 13 episodes. I don’t recall Karl Urban talking about 22, do you have a link?

    @Dani: FWIW, Karl mentioned the season as having 22 parts when he spoke to me: https://www.givememyremote.com/remote/2013/11/16/almost-human-karl-urban-on-the-appeal-of-the-show-working-with-michael-ealy-and-more/

    Neither SH or AH was explicitly said as having only 13 when they were picked up (GR/Rake were always set to be shorter as they were slated for midseason); SH was intended to have a shorter season, but they didn’t confirm it until they officially picked up the show for season 2.

    @Marisa Roffman, thanks for the link. I’ve always thought that Karl Urban and Joel H. Wyman talking about 22 parts was more about how you can develop characters and a story than the number of episodes. But I do remember a lot of articles (not from here tbh) talking about Fox ordering 13 episodes for AH and SH, so maybe that’s why I thought about 13.

    Anyway, I wish we could get a second season. I love the show, but @2211419 is right: Fox did everything wrong.

    @Dani: Networks do tend to order an initial batch of 13 (as they did w/AH and SH and their comedies), but normally, unless it’s midseason or billed right away as a limited run (a la ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND), the potential/hope is there for more episodes to be ordered…as far as I had seen, Fox hadn’t said anything about whether they’d be extending the order, so I wanted to get clarification since I’ve been getting asked a lot about the potential back nine. 🙂

    Once in a while you get a good action show, that could possibly be part of the future, instead of those annoying, pointless reality (fiction) shows. This one is good, and the only show in a couple of years that I have watched each episode twice. Whoever – please renew.

    I love this show
    hope don’t finish and have season 2 and …
