Report: NBC Looking to Revive LAW & ORDER as a Limited Series

February 6, 2015 by

law & order_thumbNBC just renewed Dick Wolf’s CHICAGO FIRE, CHICAGO P.D., and LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS for the 2015-2016 season, but it seems another show from Wolf’s past might get a spot on NBC’s schedule in the future: LAW & ORDER.

Deadline is reporting that NBC is in the early stages of reviving LAW & ORDER — the network’s longest-running primetime drama — for a 10-episode limited series. The show has been off the air since 2010, when its 20-season run was concluded rather unexpectedly, and without fanfare/a proper series finale. (Its cancellation also left it tied with GUNSMOKE as the longest-running primetime drama.)

According to Deadline, former cast members, including Chris Noth (who is currently busy on THE GOOD WIFE) and Sam Waterston have been approached about possibly participating in the limited series.

If this happens, it wouldn’t be the first show NBC revived: HEROES REBORN will be coming to the network this summer. And Fox revived 24 last summer, and is looking towards potentially reviving X-FILES, too.

NBC had no comment on the report.
