hulu-logoHulu’s adaptation of the Stephen King book, “11/22/63,” has nabbed James Franco as its lead, Hulu and Warner Bros. announced.

The nine-episode series — which will be produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company, and written by Bridget Carpente — follows English teacher Jake Epping (Franco), who “travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love and the past itself … which doesn’t want to be changed.”

Comments Off on COCKED: Sam Trammell on Brotherly Drama, Playing with Fire, and Amazon’s Pilot Process

cocked-amAmazon’s latest pilot season is nearing its end, and a handful of new original (potential) shows are competing for your attention.

One of the ones I was drawn to is COCKED, a drama that centers around the Paxon family, and their gun business. (It stars Sam Trammell, Jason Lee, Dreama Walker, and Brian Dennehy, and was co-created by LIE TO ME’s Samuel Baum and MANHATTAN’s Sam Shaw.)

I spoke with Trammell — who plays Richard, the Paxon who is reluctantly dragged back into the family business — about the Amazon pilot process, filming one of the pilot’s crazy stunts, where the show might go, and more …

Comments Off on BACKSTROM Exclusive Clip: Backstrom and Amy Go Head-to-Head Over His ‘Justified’ Shooting

backstrom-smallBACKSTROM’s title character is in hot water.

While viewers know that Backstrom shot a suspect (and himself) in the show’s pilot, his claim that it was a justified shooting — and that Visser shot him — is being investigated by the Civilian Oversight Committee…led by Backstrom’s ex-fiancee, Amy (Sarah Chalke).

When the two go head-to-head in this exclusive clip from Thursday’s episode, “I Am A Bird Now,” Backstrom, originally, tries to get out of the situation by going over his police statement — which Amy rebuffs — and then he attempts sarcasm. But when Amy emphasizes how serious this could be, Backstrom’s already questionable health takes a turn.

Take a look at what goes down in Thursday’s opening scene…

And, thankfully for the team, things are a bit calmer in the February 23rd episode, “The Wrong Stuff”…after an aspiring astronaut is killed inside of a Mars simulation, the team has to figure out how someone could have committed murder in the safe environment.

Comments Off on STALKER Exclusive Clip: How Far Will Perry and Ray Go to Scare Beth?

There’s tension in, um, paradise for the two men who are after STALKER’s Beth (Maggie Q).

Beth’s newest stalker, Perry (Erik Stocklin), has recruited her original stalker, Ray (Eion Bailey) — Ray killed her family in a house fire, which prompted her to change her name from Michelle to Beth — and now that Ray is “free,” he has some ideas for how they should go about scaring Beth. Unfortunately for Perry, Ray’s idea involves a gun…a step Perry isn’t quite ready to take.

Check out an exclusive clip from this week’s episode of STALKER, “Salvation”…

Tonight’s SLEEPY HOLLOW goes out to anyone who ever loved Frank Irving and everyone who never knew they needed a hologram founding father — so it’s for all of us, really. There might be some logical holes in this one, but it brings the heart and insanity that define this show, and just in time.

THE FOLLOWING Bosses on a Ryan Hardy-Centric Season 3, Michael Ealy’s New Big Bad, and More

February 9, 2015 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Following

THE FOLLOWING: LOGO

We’re just three weeks away from the two-hour season premiere of THE FOLLOWING, and things are set to be a bit different when the show returns.

First of all, the Joe Carroll chapter of the series is over. While Carroll made it out alive (and James Purefoy’s Carroll will appear on the show)  — thanks to an alternate ending not making the final cut —  the focus of the show will shift more fully to Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy. (And Ryan will have to contend with a new baddie this season.)

There’s also been a behind-the-scenes transition in showrunners, as THE FOLLOWING creator Kevin Williamson has handed over showrunner duties to a trio of show vets: writers/executive producers Brett Mahoney and Alexi Hawley, as well as director/executive producer Marcos Siega. (Williamson has been focused on CBS’ STALKER.)

I spoke with Mahoney and Hawley about the transition to showrunning THE FOLLOWING, “moving the center of the show,” why fans of THE FOLLOWING newbie Michael Ealy will be excited by the season, and more…
