AMERICAN IDOL to End with Season 15
May 11, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
AMERICAN IDOL will end with its upcoming 15th season, Fox announced.
The season — which will once again kick off in January — will be a “season-long celebratory event” and “feature host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., as they search for the final IDOL superstar and pay tribute to the past 14 seasons of amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLs.”
IDOL underwent a significant shift this past season as it moved from two nights a week to one. And though the show is no longer the ratings giant it used to be, it’s a bit strange to think that we only have one season left to see it on our televisions.
And, personally, while there has been some great talent over the past 14 seasons, the show’s season 1 winner, Kelly Clarkson, was my favorite discovery the show made. In case you’re feeling nostalgic with the news of the show’s ending, you can watch her winning moment:
