May 14, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
THE SIMPSONS was recently renewed for two seasons, but it may be continuing on without one of its most prolific voices.
Harry Shearer — who voices Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Reverend Lovejoy, and Smithers, to name a few of his characters — revealed in a series of tweets on Wednesday night that he will be exiting the show.
from James L. Brooks’ lawyer: “show will go on, Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.”. (1/2)

This because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work. Of course, I wish him the very best. (2/2) — Harry Shearer (@theharryshearer) May 14, 2015
THE SIMPSONS executive producers James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Al Jean released a statement via Fox, saying, “Harry Shearer was offered the same deal the rest of the cast accepted, and passed. The show will go on and we wish him well. Maggie took it hard.”
On Twitter, Jean also said that if Shearer doesn’t return to the series, they’ll recast his roles.
@simpsonswiki @TheSimpsons recast if Harry does not return. No yellow wedding.
