THE X-FILES is returning on Sunday, January 24th, and Fox is giving it one of the best launching pads of the midseason: the post-NFC Championship Game slot.
But given X-FILES’ built-in awareness — and six-episode run — it’s understandable why the decision to give it that plum spot needed a bit more explaining.

Comments Off on Fox Bosses on the End of AMERICAN IDOL
AMERICAN IDOL will come to an end with the upcoming 15th season (which will launch in January of 2016), but parting with a show that has meant so much to the network wasn’t a move they came to lightly.
“It’s not an easy decision; AMERICAN IDOL has been such a vital part of Fox for its run,” Gary Newman, Co-Chairman and CEO, Fox Television Group, said on a call with reporters. “We spent a lot of time talking with the producers about the future of AMERICAN IDOL, and collectively, we all arrived to the conclusion it was time to bring the show to an end. But we really wanted to do it in a way that felt special and celebratory, and treated the show the way it deserved to be treated. So next year, we’re announcing it is the final season. It’ll be a true season-long celebration. We’re already talking about surprises we can have for the fans to make it feel special, and to send it off in a way that is as significant as the run it has had on our network.”
Among those potential surprises for next season? The potential return of former judges.

AMERICAN IDOL to End with Season 15

Comments Off on AMERICAN IDOL to End with Season 15
AMERICAN IDOL will end with its upcoming 15th season, Fox announced.
The season — which will once again kick off in January — will be a “season-long celebratory event” and “feature host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., as they search for the final IDOL superstar and pay tribute to the past 14 seasons of amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLs.”
IDOL underwent a significant shift this past season as it moved from two nights a week to one. And though the show is no longer the ratings giant it used to be, it’s a bit strange to think that we only have one season left to see it on our televisions.

Comments Off on Fox Announces 2015-2016 Schedule
With no X FACTOR or UTOPIA in sight, Fox is sans any huge reality blocks for the start of the upcoming season.
That also means that aside from the Sunday lineup — which is staying untouched — only GOTHAM, EMPIRE, and BONES are remaining in the same spots they occupied for the 2014-2015 season. (And NEW GIRL is off the schedule until January.)
