PLAYING HOUSE: Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair on Getting Guest Star Kenny Loggins
June 25, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
PLAYING HOUSE went all out for its second season finale: the beloved USA Network comedy nabbed Kenny Loggins for a guest spot.
Emma and Maggie’s love of Loggins’ music was a delightful part of the series (starting all the way back with the pilot), and the finale finds the duo trying to get into one of his concerts. (Loggins plays himself in the episode.)
I was on the set of the PLAYING HOUSE finale — right before creators/stars Lennon Parham (Maggie) and Jessica St. Clair (Emma) met/filmed with Loggins — and the duo was still giddy about landing him for their show.
“Kenny Loggins, we wrote him a letter [to ask him to guest star], and included a video of Lennon and her friend at his concert when he climbed towards them and, at crotch-level, sang ‘Celebrate Me Home,'” St. Clair shared.
“Which was what inspired [its use in] the pilot episode,” Parham continued. “And since that song was such an anthem for season 1, it felt right for the finale of season 2 to have him as a part of it. But we never thought in a million years he would say yes.”
But thank goodness he did. And Parham had a little dance party to celebrate.
