PLAYING HOUSE went all out for its second season finale: the beloved USA Network comedy nabbed Kenny Loggins for a guest spot.
Emma and Maggie’s love of Loggins’ music was a delightful part of the series (starting all the way back with the pilot), and the finale finds the duo trying to get into one of his concerts. (Loggins plays himself in the episode.)
I was on the set of the PLAYING HOUSE finale — right before creators/stars Lennon Parham (Maggie) and Jessica St. Clair (Emma) met/filmed with Loggins — and the duo was still giddy about landing him for their show.

If you think there’s nothing interesting about women’s sports, Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers have some choice words for you. (Especially if you’re Sports Illustrated writer Andy Benoit.)
The duo — who cohosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’s “Weekend Update” together from 2006-2008 — revived their popular “Really?!” segment when Poehler appeared on Meyers’ LATE NIGHT to tackle Benoit’s controversial tweet. And it was glorious.

Comments Off on GOTHAM: James Frain Joins Season 2 Cast
GOTHAM has landed a new villain: James Frain (who recurs on ORPHAN BLACK and appears in TRUE DETECTIVE season 2) has joined the Fox drama’s sophomore season as Theo Galavan — the brother of villainess-to-be, Tabitha/Tigress — a rep for the show has confirmed.
According to Deadline — who was first to report the casting — Theo is “the savior the city has been waiting for — he is sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha.” But, naturally, things aren’t exactly as they seem: “behind Galavan’s altruism is a centuries-old vendetta. Galavan and Tabitha (aka Tigress) will take chaos and violence to a new level in order to bleed Gotham. Their plan will lead to the creation of new villains… and the destruction of others.”

Hours before MR. ROBOT debuted on USA Network, the network has renewed the series for a second season.
“We knew from the moment we read Sam Esmail’s provocative script, and witnessed the brilliant performances of Rami Malek and Christian Slater, that Mr. Robot is a stand-out series that is unlike anything currently on television,” said USA Network President Chris McCumber in a statement. “The overwhelmingly positive fan reactions to the pilot and the broad sampling of it, reaffirms our confidence in the series, and we’re excited to see where this timely drama will take us for season two.”
“Sam Esmail has captured and distilled our ongoing cultural conversation about identity, privacy, value and self-worth,” said Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We are all talking about the central themes of Mr. Robot – Sam has just done it in a completely original and uniquely compelling way.”

Comments Off on FOREVER’s Alana De La Garza to Recur on SCORPION
FOREVER’s Alana De La Garza is set to recur on SCORPION, a rep for the CBS drama confirmed.
According to Deadline, which was first to break the casting, De La Garza will play the new Head of Homeland Security. She’ll be essential to getting Robert Patrick’s Cabe back to his old position when season 2 kicks off.
SCORPION producer Nicholas Wootton told Give Me My Remote last month that the scope of the show would grow a bit in season 2, though the additions would be “more peripheral.” (AKA Team Scorpion is staying intact.) “The iris of the show needs to grow in season 2,” Woottoon allowed. “But it’ll always be about our core [group].”
SCORPION season 2 kicks off Monday, September 21st at 9 PM on CBS.
