NBC Cancels WELCOME TO SWEDEN

Comments Off on NBC Cancels WELCOME TO SWEDEN
WELCOME TO SWEDEN will end with its current second season, NBC has confirmed. The news was first broken by creator Greg Poehler, via a lengthy Instagram post.
“Holy shit. What a ride!” he wrote. “Due to some craptastically low ratings in the US, WTS is officially done. I am eternally grateful to all of our fans. When you make a show – and write, produce, obsess and and act in it – all you want us for someone, somewhere, to tell you they appreciate it. There have been so many of you in both Sweden and the US that have done so, and every compliment has made me immeasurably happy. So, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I’m sitting here crying, but mostly because I’ll prob never work with Josephine, Christopher, Lena, Per and Claes again. They are among the best people I’ve ever met and I am so so happy and grateful that they let me act with them.
“Regardless, what an incredible journey!” he continued. “I could write for days about it. But I am so grateful to the cast, crew and directors for making Swedish [TV] history. I love you all!…THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! I sincerely love you all. Tears of joy…. The best thing is we live in an age where you can see the remainder of the eps on NBC and Hulu and Amazon and elsewhere (Paul Simon and Jack Black and Neve Campbell and Aubrey Plaza await). So please PLEASE watch them. I think they are great. Toward the end, I finally figured out what I was doing. Worry not. The best is yet to come. For me and for you.”

SENSE8: Co-Creator ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ About Season 2, Cast Reflects on Season 1
July 28, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
SENSE8 launched its first season in June, but its fate is still very much up in the air.
“We’re still awaiting word,” co-creator J. Michael Straczynski told reporters during the show’s Television Critics Association panel. “[But] we’re cautiously optimistic.”
If the series does move forward Straczynski, acknowledged he and co-creators The Wachowskis have a five-year plan. “We’re long-game kind of people,” Straczynski said. “[But] it would not be in the best interest of the surprises we have in mind to [reveal it all now].”
For Straczynski — who recently made the trek to Comic-Con to panel the series — he shared that while talking to fans, “what you realize after talking to them is [the fans have] seen it three, four, five times.”
By being on Netflix, “you don’t have to dilute what you’re trying to do by appealing to everyone,” SENSE8 star Brian J. Smith (Will) added. “You can make your thing and be satisfied with it.”
“The whole reaction has been wonderful…it’s gone so well,” executive producer Grant Hill shared. “There are always people it’s not going to be their thing…[but] the overwhelming enthusiasm has been great.”
And the enthusiasm is also felt by the actors. During the panel, they praised the ability to do different takes on the same scene — and the emotions that get showcased in it — over the course of several months (and cities) due to the nature of the interconnected characters.

UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT Cast, Producers Talk Season 2 and ‘Pinot Noir’

Comments Off on UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT Cast, Producers Talk Season 2 and ‘Pinot Noir’
UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT will return in 2016 for a second season. And while the show will remain on Netflix for its sophomore year, this will be the first season where the season was crafted while everyone knows it’ll air on the streaming site. (Originally, the series was set to air on NBC before they opted not to air it and Netflix stepped in.)
“I think the tone of the show feels set,” co-creator Tina Fey told reporters at the show’s Television Critics Association panel. She noted people have told her they watch the show with their teens/tweens, so to alter it now would jeopardize that.
But there is one freedom the producers are thrilled to have: flexible run times. Network needs had their original season 1 cuts coming in at 20 minutes and 15 seconds, and Fey noted it would often take two days to shave the episodes down to that length. Now, they’ll have the freedom to go beyond that.
“I think it will be very enjoyable for us,” she said. “We have to be our own guides so we don’t get too fat [in time] or slow.”
For the stars, one of the perks of being on Netflix is getting to launch the entire season at once, which felt “a bit like opening night,” Jane Krakowski (Jacqueline) said. “We made the pure product that [the writers] had in mind.”
As fans discovered the show in season 1, a key moment resonated strongly with many: Titus’ (Tituss Burgess) viral song, “Pinot Noir.”

GOTHAM’s Robin Lord Taylor on Oswald’s Season 2 Power: ‘He’s Running the Show’

Comments Off on GOTHAM’s Robin Lord Taylor on Oswald’s Season 2 Power: ‘He’s Running the Show’
GOTHAM’s Oswald Cobblepot has scored his biggest victory to date at the end of season 1: his mentor-turned-enemy Fish is (seemingly) dead.
And with Fish gone, “he’s running things” in Gotham, Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald/Penguin) told reporters in the video below. “He set out to accomplish that in the first season, got it. He’s the king of Gotham, king of the underworld at the moment…we’ll see how long he holds on to it.”
Since there are new villains heading to GOTHAM in season 2, the struggle for power will likely get a bit more complicated than Oswald anticipated.
Check out the video for more from Taylor, including the characters he hopes to interact with in season 2, why the “honeymoon is over” with Jim, and more…

Lance Gross will recur on SLEEPY HOLLOW, a rep for the show has confirmed.
Gross will play Daniel Reynolds, an FBI special agent in charge…who is now Abbie’s boss. But whether that means he’s taken a job at the Sleepy Hollow PD or if Abbie has actually made the transition to FBI agent, we’ll have to wait to find out. (Fun fact: Gross appeared with Nicole Beharie (Abbie) in the 2012 film THE LAST FALL.)
The Hollywood Reporter first announced his casting.
SLEEPY HOLLOW season 3 is already filled with new faces. In addition to returning stars Tom Mison (Ichabod), Beharie, and Lyndie Greenwood (Jenny), Shannyn Sossamon joined the show as Pandora, while Nikki Reed has been tapped to play Betsy Ross.

SCORPION: Katharine McPhee and Elyes Gabel Preview Paige and Walter’s Relationship in Season 2

Comments Off on SCORPION: Katharine McPhee and Elyes Gabel Preview Paige and Walter’s Relationship in Season 2
SCORPION’s Walter and Paige will be taking some big steps in the show’s sophomore season.
“I think that the one thing we’re trying to acknowledge [is] we had a lot of tease last year [with that Walter/Paige relationship], and what we’d like to do is acknowledge the gorilla in the room and then see how it complicates their lives,” SCORPION producer Nicholas Wootton shared earlier this summer. “I think to say they were going to have a perfect, loving relationship that is going to last [starting immediately], that’s not going to happen. I think given his level of emotional maturity, even the concept of admitting, ‘I even like you’ is a long jump for him. But I think we both know how they feel, let’s admit how they feel, and see how it reverberates though the team.”
And based on what SCORPION stars Katharine McPhee (Paige) and Elyes Gabel (Walter) shared at Comic-Con, fans won’t have to wait long to see progress.
“I think you can expect Paige and Walter to have…a conversation about [their relationship],” McPhee said in the video below. “I think people will be surprised by the first episode. When I was reading the first episode, I was surprised.”
“Something nice happens in the episode,” Gabel added.
Check out the video for more from Gabel and McPhee…
