PLAYING HOUSE is continuing its streak of stellar guest casting with tonight’s new episode: Rob Riggle stops by!

“[He plays] a very overly sexual woodworking teacher that rolls into town and destroys marriages,” PLAYING HOUSE co-creator/star Jessica St. Clair (Emma) teased. “And it’s Rob Riggle at his best: and by that, I mean he’s at his rudest and his most misogynistic.”

And as great as the fabulous guest/supporting cast constantly are on PLAYING HOUSE, part of what makes it one of the best gems on television right now is its incredible (and unparralled) look at female friendship.

I sat down with St. Clair and PLAYING HOUSE co-creator/star Lennon Parham (Maggie) after their recent TCA panel to speak about the impact the show is having on people, showcasing realistic female friendships, working with Kenny Loggins, what’s to come in season 2, and more…

Keith David (ENLISTED, COMMUNITY) will guest star on an upcoming episode of PERSON OF INTEREST, a rep for the show has confirmed. EW.com was first to report David’s casting.

David will play a CIA supervisory agent, Terence Beal, who is “the kind of guy who knows where the bodies are buried … mostly because he put a few of them there himself.” And given the fact that Team Machine ended last season on the run,  it’ll be interesting to see whether Beal will be a friend or foe.

PERSON OF INTEREST’s upcoming fifth season — which will also feature the return of Sarah Shahi’s Shaw — will air midseason on CBS.

HAVEN will end with its fifth season, a rep for the show has confirmed.

The Syfy series had an unusual season 5 order — 26 episodes, to be split over two chunks — but at the time of order, it wasn’t 100 percent intended to be the end.

HAVEN — very loosely based off the Stephen King novella, “The Colorado Kid” — stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, and Adam Copeland.

The Wrap was first to report the cancellation.

THE AFFAIR: Sarah Treem, Joshua Jackson, and Maura Tierney Preview Season 2’s Perspective Shifts

THE AFFAIR is shaking things up in its second season.

With the first year telling the story of Noah and Alison’s affair from their perspectives, the sophomore season will showcase the fallout of the Noah/Helen and Alison/Cole marriage by showing all four of their stories.

And with that change comes a slight format shift. The first season of THE AFFAIR showed both POVs regularly, but with four perspectives to juggle, the show will shift who it showcases week-by-week.

“For the most part, it’s still going to be two perspectives,” THE AFFAIR co-creator Sarah Treem told reporters at the recent TCA panel. “The question is whose two perspectives. So the show takes off in what I think is sort of an interesting prismatic approach to storytelling where you’ll see sort of pieces of the story from all four POVs, and then you’ll start to understand as the show keeps going basically how those four POVs are sort of funneling together, which they do do by the end.”

The change in formatting has also allowed for its actors to dive deeper into their roles.

With PLAYING HOUSE’s second season underway, the show is now being released in a unique way: though the episodes are airing on television in its normal time slot (Tuesdays at 10 PM on USA Network), the next episode is available online and On Demand a week before it shows up on TV.

For PLAYING HOUSE creators/stars Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham, the episodes’ early availability could lead to spoiler-related issues — especially since both women are very active on social media, and regularly interact with the show’s biggest fans.

Jack Coleman is going to have a busy, busy fall.

In addition to reprising his role of HRG on NBC’s HEROES REBORN, Coleman will also pop back up on ABC’s CASTLE as Senator Bracken — the man Beckett put away for his role in her mother’s murder — for a mysterious early season guest spot.

“He is a link to a deep dark story that is about to unveil itself,” Coleman teased to reporters after the HEROES REBORN TCA panel. “And he is not in a great place, when we revisit Senator Bracken. He’s a long way from the smug guy in the nice suit.”

And, naturally, his story is tied to Beckett’s once again.

CASTLE is recruiting another familiar guest star for a return: Adam Baldwin.

Baldwin — who first appeared in season 4’s “Headhunters” as Detective Slaughter — will return early in the show’s upcoming eighth season. And though it’s taken a few years to happen, after Baldwin filmed his first guest spot, he shared he was open to coming back.

And he isn’t the only familiar face returning under slightly mysterious circumstances: Jack Coleman has also booked a return visit to the ABC drama.

EW.com was first to report Baldwin’s return.

Syfy Sets CHILDHOOD’S END Run

August 12, 2015 by

Syfy has set a three-day airing schedule for the upcoming event series, CHILDHOOD’S END.

Based on Arthur C. Clarke’s science-fiction novel, “Childhood’s End,” the six-hour series will air over three consecutive nights: Monday, December 14, Tuesday, December 15, and Wednesday, December 16 from 8-10 PM.

Per Syfy, “CHILDHOOD’S END follows the peaceful invasion of Earth by the alien Overlords, who promise to eliminate poverty, war and sickness – ushering in a golden age of peace, health and security for all of humankind. But why do the Overlords insist on hiding their appearance – and what do they ultimately want from Earth? While much of the world enjoys its newfound utopia, some suspect there’s a price to pay. As the truth about the Overlords’ intentions are revealed, humanity will discover its actual destiny may actually be a nightmare, instead of a dream.”

The event series stars Charles Dance, Mike Vogel, Daisy Betts, Yael Stone, Julian McMahon, Osy Ikhile, and Colm Meaney. Matthew Graham adapted Clarke’s book.
