SUPERSTORE: Justin Spitzer Teases a Visit to ‘Target’

Comments Off on SUPERSTORE: Justin Spitzer Teases a Visit to ‘Target’
SUPERSTORE is going to a brave new world in Thursday’s episode: Target.
“We’re going to find out that somebody takes a job at Target,” SUPERSTORE creator Justin Spitzer teases. “That drives Glenn crazy. For him, it feels like a betrayal. There’s a conversation early on [about] how the person who works there, now [Target will] know all our secrets. [He thinks] it would be like if someone on a football team went to an opposing football team.”
Outside of visiting a real-world location, the episode also marks an unexpected first for the series—product placement. “People on Twitter and various comments online think our show is all product placement; that we’re a sellout and will whore ourselves out for any product,” Spitzer says with a laugh. “I think we’ve never actually done it before. We’ve always been happy to, as long as it doesn’t feel like a commercial. We do have that ability with the show [due to the products in the background] but this is the one that finally worked out, which was a surprise for us. If you asked me what I thought the last company that would want to do product placement on our show was, it was Target.”

The installment was a long-time in the making, with Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins recording their part of the episode over a year ago. “The three of us got in the booth together,” Ackles recalled during the PaleyFest panel. “There were a lot of cameras, so you’ll see it in the special features [on the DVD].”

The network has picked up a 13-episode season 6 of Jane Lynch-hosted series. A premiere date (and participating celebrities) are still to be announced. The games can be physical (and the last season expanded to include “backyard” obstacles), ridiculous, but always hilarious.

Comments Off on GOOD GIRLS and SUPERSTORE Bosses on the Upcoming Quasi-Crossover
The worlds of NBC’s GOOD GIRLS and SUPERSTORE collide starting this week.
GOOD GIRLS’ Beth (Christina Hendricks), Ruby (Retta), and Annie (Mae Whitman)—who have found themselves taking drastic (criminal) steps to provide for their families—visit a Detroit-based Cloud 9 for a pivotal, ongoing, job in Monday’s episode of the drama. (Cloud 9 is the big-box chain store where the NBC comedy is set; the SUPERSTORE location is in St. Louis.)
Cloud 9 has appeared outside of SUPERSTORE in the past (it popped up on THE MINDY PROJECT), but this quasi-crossover has a special connection: SUPERSTORE creator Justin Spitzer and GOOD GIRLS creator Jenna Bans are married.

Praise be: THE HANDMAID’S TALE is almost back!
The Emmy-winning Hulu series made waves when it launched last year—both because of the quality of the adaptation of the Margaret Atwood novel and the impact it had on real-world protests—and it shows no sign of slowing down.
With the season 2 premiere a little over a month away, the drama was honored at PaleyFest on Sunday. Though much of what’s to come is top-secret, the cast and creative team had a few teases of what fans can expect when the show returns on Wednesday, April 25. Read more

Get ready for more WILL & GRACE.
Though the first revival season is still airing, NBC has ordered more of the comedy series. “We’re not doing 13 [in season 10], we’re doing 18,” series co-creator Max Mutchnick announced during the show’s PaleyFest panel.
But that wasn’t the only surprise in store: “NBC has picked us up for a third [AKA eleventh] season,” Eric McCormack (Will) added. He and his co-stars Debra Messing (Grace), Megan Mullally (Karen), and Sean Hayes (Jack) all stood up and cheered over the news.
“As far as I’m concerned, we can’t get enough of WILL & GRACE and 23 more episodes is music to my ears,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, in a statement. “We’re eternally grateful that Debra, Eric, Sean and Megan feel the same way and wanted to keep this good thing going. I’m overwhelmed by the euphoric response the new show has received from the press and the audience, and my hat is off to the unrivaled writing team of Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, as well as the brilliant directing of Jimmy Burrows, for consistently delivering one of the best shows on television.”

Comments Off on WESTWORLD: Check Out 11 Images From Season 2!
The first images from HBO’s WESTWORLD season 2 are…deceptively calm.
Given the mayhem the first season finale unleashed—the hosts took control over the Westworld section of the park, and Maeve (Thandie Newton) made the first real choice of her existence—the first official photos released show little of the real fallout. But in true WESTWORLD fashion, the photos are gorgeous and there’s enough ambiguity to fuel some speculation. (Currently obsessing about what could be occurring in this shot.)

Comments Off on Showtime Sets Premiere Date for Benedict Cumberbatch’s PATRICK MELROSE
Showtime is expanding its original programming lineup to air on Saturday nights.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s PATRICK MELROSE kicks things off on Saturday, May 12 at 9/8c. The five-part limited series is based on Edward St. Aubyn’s semi-autobiographical books. (David Nicholls adapted the books for television; each episode is based on one of the five novels in the series.)
“As the size of our programming slate continues to grow, it makes sense for SHOWTIME to offer another night of premieres – allowing us the opportunity to eventize series like PATRICK MELROSE,” said David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc, in a statement. “Offering original content on Saturdays not only enables us to fully service our subscribers with diverse offerings, it gives viewers enough time to enjoy them all. And a series with the ambition and quality of PATRICK MELROSE is the perfect place to start.”
PATRICK MELROSE stars Cumberbatch as the title character, a man who is struggling to overcome the scars of his abusive childhood. (Cumberbatch is also an executive producer on the series.) The drama also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving, Anna Madeley, Blythe Danner, Allison Williams, Pip Torrens, Jessica Raine, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Holliday Grainger, Indira Varma, and Celia Imrie.
