CASTLE ROCK: Hulu Sets a July Premiere for the Stephen King-Inspired Series
May 2, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
Welcome to CASTLE ROCK, the creepiest town in the world.
The new Hulu series (developed by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason), set in the Stephen King multiverse, will premiere its first three episodes on Wednesday, July 25, the streaming platform announced. (Subsequent episodes will launch every week.)
Castle Rock, the fictional Maine town which has been a steady presence in King’s stories, has seen oddities ranging from a rabid dog (“Cujo”) to a shop that mysteriously has what the customer needs (“Needful Things”). In Hulu’s take, CASTLE ROCK tells an original story, but leans into the area’s spookiness—and incorporates the infamous Shawshank prison.
The show stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn. J.J. Abrams—who previously worked with Hulu and King on the adaptation of 11/22/63—is an executive producer on the show.
