Comments Off on NBC Orders NEW AMSTERDAM to Series
NBC has picked up its first new show for the 2018-2019 season: medical drama NEW AMSTERDAM.
Here’s NBC’s description of the series: “Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. How can he help? Well, the doctors and staff have heard this before. Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital — the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof — and return it to the glory that put it on the map.”
NEW AMSTERDAM stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. The series was created by David Schulner (who was last an executive producer on the network’s EMERALD CITY) and directed by Kate Dennis (GLOW, THE HANDMAID’S TALE).

Comments Off on TIMELESS: Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, and Mari-An Ceo on Influencing the Series
In the Sunday, April 29 episode of TIMELESS, viewers learned a potential twist: a photo of Jessica (Tonya Glanz), Wyatt’s (Matt Lanter) recently-resurrected wife, was in the Rittenhouse data.
What does that mean? It’s still too soon to know. But, as TIMELESS star Abigail Spencer (who plays Lucy) shared with reporters in the video below, the idea came from Lanter.
Spencer, Lanter, and costume designer Mari-An Ceo explain how they’ve been able to influence the series so far. Read more

Comments Off on DATELINE’s Lester Holt on Meek Mill’s Post-Release Interview
On Sunday’s episode of DATELINE, NBC News’ Lester Holt speaks with rapper Meek Mill, a day after the latter’s release from prison. (Mill was incarcerated due to a probation violation.)
But Holt’s inspiration for the hour of DATELINE came from an unlikely place: Jay-Z. “I didn’t know a lot about Meek Mill’s story…but when Jay-Z penned an op-ed in the New York Times last fall, that’s was when I first realized the depth of his story and what he represented,” Holt told reporters in the video below.
Holt spoke to Mill in prison, via telephone, and the veteran reporter was impressed. NBC News’ cameras were there when Mill was released, and captured “magical moment,” Holt previewed. And when it came time for the actual sit-down interview, “I found him to be a very thoughtful guy…he understands the weight of responsibility [he can have].”
Check out the video for more from Holt on his experience with Mill. Read more

In the drama, Plum Kettle (Joy Nash), works for one of the hottest fashion publications. Per AMC, “struggling with self-image and fed up with how she’s treated by her boss and society, Plum sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-awakening. At the same time, everyone is buzzing over news reports about men, accused of sexual abuse and assault, who are disappearing and meeting untimely, violent deaths. Attention, Cloud 9 shoppers (um, viewers): Thursday’s SUPERSTORE finale is nearly here, and major things are going down.
“A big town hall is happening,” SUPERSTORE creator Justin Spitzer previews of the episode titled, appropriately, “Town Hall.” “We finally meet the CEO [played by Brian Howe] who is coming to the store.”
While initially there is excitement (at least from Glenn and Dina) about their store hosting the important meeting, things quickly take a turn. “The group realizes that they can’t talk about everything—certain topics are off-limits, including Myrtle,” Spitzer teases. “They start to learn that Myrtle was fired [for questionable reasons]. So it’s our group using the opportunity to see if they can get her job back.”

Comments Off on CASTLE ROCK: Hulu Sets a July Premiere for the Stephen King-Inspired Series
Welcome to CASTLE ROCK, the creepiest town in the world.
The new Hulu series (developed by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason), set in the Stephen King multiverse, will premiere its first three episodes on Wednesday, July 25, the streaming platform announced. (Subsequent episodes will launch every week.)
Castle Rock, the fictional Maine town which has been a steady presence in King’s stories, has seen oddities ranging from a rabid dog (“Cujo”) to a shop that mysteriously has what the customer needs (“Needful Things”). In Hulu’s take, CASTLE ROCK tells an original story, but leans into the area’s spookiness—and incorporates the infamous Shawshank prison.
The show stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn. J.J. Abrams—who previously worked with Hulu and King on the adaptation of 11/22/63—is an executive producer on the show.
