THE FLASH at Comic-Con: Chris Klein Joins Season 5 as Cicada

Chris Klein is THE FLASH‘s new big bad. The actor has signed on to play the villainous Cicada in the upcoming fifth season, it was announced at Comic-Con.

Per WB, Cicada is “a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans…[he] now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.”

“He’s not so much a cult leader, but his powers present a challenge for Team Flash they’ve never had to deal with before,” executive producer Todd Helbing teased during the show’s panel.

In addition to the milestone 100th episode airing during season 5, the year will have another first: co-star Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin) is directing an upcoming hour. “I’m honestly so excited,” she said. “It’s such a rarity to be on a show that gets to go almost 100 episodes…I can’t wait to play in a different sandbox.”
