HBO Orders DEADWOOD Movie

DEADWOOD is officially returning with a television movie, Casey Bloys, President, HBO Programming, announced.

“I can finally, finally confirm we are greenlit on a DEADWOOD movie,” Bloys said during HBO‘s Television Critics Association executive session panel. “We are looking at an October start date.”

Though details about the film’s plot are scarce—Bloys said he preferred to let David Milch share the details when they were ready—HBO is cautiously optimistic that the television movie could be on the air by spring of 2019.

The Ian McShane-led series originally ran from 2004-2006 on HBO. The film has been in varying levels of development for more than a decade.
