CASTLE ROCK Renewed by Hulu
August 14, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
CASTLE ROCK will return for a second season, Hulu announced. The sixth episode of the current cycle will debut on Wednesday, August 15.
Details about the next installment are being kept under wraps, but the plan was for each season to be its own complete story. The first season centered around a mysterious prisoner who appeared at Shawshank Prison and starred André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy, and Scott Glenn. CASTLE ROCK was developed by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason.
Though Hulu doesn’t reveal viewing numbers, they did offer up these tidbits about CASTLE ROCK’s early performance:
- On the day of its premiere, Castle Rock became the most successful first season Hulu Original launch in terms of consumption and reach.
- The series also has among the highest view-through rates for a Hulu Original in both its first and second week since launch.
- Castle Rock marks the second series for Hulu with Stephen King, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television, following the event series 11.22.63, based on King’s novel. The series debuted February 15, 2016, but the premiere of Castle Rock has led Stephen King fans to rediscover the series on Hulu.
