SUPERGIRL Boss Teases ‘Fallout,’ Bringing in Lex Luthor

One of the bigger SUPERGIRL secrets is out: the general public now knows President Marsdin (Lynda Carter) is an alien.

The next episode is “exploring the fallout of the [reveal and] how that one event will shape the entire season,” executive producer Robert Rovner told reporters.

But as Kara (Melissa Benoist) is contending with that, she also has her sights on the villainous Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra)—who has ties to the Luthors.

“I think what’s great about Mercy is not necessarily her relationship with Lex, but her relationship with Lena,” Rovner teased. “They had a complicated relationship in the past that becomes even more complicated.”

And with Lex finally making his way to the series, Rovner admitted the team was delighted to have to opportunity to play with the infamous character. “It’s a big Lena story this season,” he teased. “[Lex] weaves into the narrative we’re telling.”

Though they’ve yet to cast his portrayer, “we’re excited about the possibilities of who might step into the iconic role,” Rovner said.

Looking ahead, Rovner shared he was also “super excited” about the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover event that is airing in December. “What’s great about the SUPERGIRL episode this [time] is last year we began it, and this year we get to end it,” he pointed out. “We’re excited about that.”
