SPLITTING UP TOGETHER – “Asking for a Friend” – Afraid that the answer could ruin his chances with Lena, Martin finds every way he can to avoid asking Lisa Apple if she is pregnant, while the potential pregnancy makes Lena more and more distant. At the same time, Lena worries Mason is changing himself to please his new girlfriend and finds parallels to her own relationship with Martin. Elsewhere, Maya tells Frank a pretend story about her “friend” who is dating someone new and pregnant to gauge what his honest reaction will be, on ABC’s “Splitting Up Together,” TUESDAY, OCT. 23 (9:30-10:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. Let’s talk about Tuesday’s TV!
THE FLASH: I was worried the show was going to try find a way to make Cicada Caitlin’s father. It’s super creepy her actual dad is watching the lab…how long has that been going on?
THE CONNERS: Well, the show was funnier after moving past the Roseanne of it all. But yikes to Blue; it’s understandable why Darlene would be upset by her parenting style.
Curious how deep they’re going to go with Becky’s drinking problem. Given Roseanne’s addiction, there could be a story there…but it’s also not as naturally funny.
THE VOICE: It really felt like the Battles flew by with very few memorable moments. I really hope the Knockouts are better.
SPLITTING UP TOGETHER: Well, with Lena and Martin splitting again—and this time more fractured than their original, harmonious separation—the show will likely feel really different. (Not to compare everything to FRIENDS, but it feels like we could be heading toward early season 4 Ross/Rachel: after their brief reunion and nasty split post-letter, they were much snarkier/pointed toward each other.)
Also: I’m kiiiiind of skeptical about Lisa Apple’s pregnancy denial. I hope I’m wrong about that, though.
THE ROOKIE: The timing of Nolan offering the runaway bride a lotto ticket is a little hilarious. (Sorry neither of you won the $1.6 billion in Mega Millions!) I really loved the montage of all the duos processing their suspects.
Really not sure how I feel about John/Lucy so far. It’s better than a training officer and a rookie getting together, but the consequences they’ll face for their coupling are still very, very, very different.
