About Last Night…THE GOLDBERGS, CHICAGO MED, SEAL TEAM, and More
October 25, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s discuss Wednesday’s TV!
THE GOLDBERGS: This was such a fun episode. Robert Englund looked like he was having a blast, and of course Bev would be able to outsmart Freddy.
The episode dug into deeper things (parents raising their kids in different ways; Adam’s probably genuine wish that he had more laid-back parents), but, honestly, just thinking about Beverly being constrained by Freddy’s sweaters makes me laugh.
And poor Erica having to contend with being a 13th grader. I’m glad she ultimately did the Hall & Oats costumes.
CHICAGO MED: So. Much. Drama. Emily wasn’t wrong to be frustrated with Ethan. Obviously, he was trying to help her after they discovered her boyfriend was married with a kid, but he blew things up in the manner he did it.
The Ava secret feels like a ticking time bomb. With Connor admitting he kind of stayed for her, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the duo cross a line…but will it be before or after he discovers whatever happened between her and his father?
(Will, lying is dumb.)
RIVERDALE: Right now the show is THE OC season 4 + BEVERLY HILLS season 5 + GOSSIP GIRL (several seasons). And, uh, Jingle Jangle is back.
I’m really, really excited for the flashback episode in two weeks, though.
SEAL TEAM: I’m glad they’re not glossing over the impact of Alana’s death, and it makes total sense Jason would want to step back from Bravo Team. I’m curious where they go from here to make it feel authentic; is there a way to bring him back into the action any time soon and plausibly justify him leaving his family? (Outside of a time jump.)
MODERN FAMILY: It’s hard to know what should or shouldn’t be teased about a show’s upcoming storylines, but as soon as the team teased a death was coming on MODERN FAMILY, it seemed apparent it was going to be DeDe. There is no one else whose loss would impact the entire family, but wouldn’t fundamentally change the series.
That being said, they did handle it well. Mitch and Claire had complicated relationships with their mother, which meant their grieving process—both together and separately—was interesting/heartbreaking.
But, uh, Lily may be a real evil troublemaker when she gets older, huh?
A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Speaking of weird promotions…ABC was all about the pregnancy test in the promos, but it didn’t get revealed until the last ten minutes of the episode. The episode was good, and it was nice to see Eddie make a real effort to help Katherine be their for their son. But things are going to blow up next week when it becomes more wider known Delilah is pregnant. And certainly it’s going to jeopardize Delilah keeping her affair with Eddie a secret.
