CHARMED Producers on the Full Season Order, Fallout from Trip’s Death

With Thursday’s full season pickup, CHARMED became one of the few shows to receive a full 22 episode season.

Though they only found out the episode count a few hours before the pickup was made public, “we were planning for that,” executive producer Jessica O’Toole told reporters after a screening of an upcoming episode.

“We had definitely planned there was going to be a big thing in 13, but now we can [slow down],” executive producer Amy Rardin added. And while some of what was sketched out will still be a part of the episode, they’ll delay others, “which I think is better.”

But that doesn’t mean the show is slowing down by any means. On Sunday’s new episode, “Other Women,” the sisters will deal with the fallout from Trip’s (Brendon Zub) death.

“[It was] a death that happened on their watch,” O’Toole pointed out. “We wanted to treat that with some gravity. We wanted these characters to feel it when they fail to save an innocent…[for it] to have a big impact.”

“You’re going to see how it [impacts] Mel’s relationship with Niko,” she continued. “And you’ll see how Macy’s romantic life continues to be impacted by the fact she’s a witch…and Maggie is dealing with the ramifications of ‘accidentally’ kissing Parker so he wouldn’t see the harbinger writhing around behind him.”

Good thing the show has a full season to handle this much drama!
