THE SIMPSONS: Fox Sets Rebroadcast of the Series Premiere
December 5, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
Nearly 29 years ago, Fox aired the first full-length episode of THE SIMPSONS: “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.” (Prior to that, the family’s stories shorts in THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW.)
To celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, the network is rebroadcasting the episode in primetime on Sunday, December 23 at 8/7c. Here’s Fox’s official description of the episode:
“In this encore of the 1989 Christmas special, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” the very first full-length episode of THE SIMPSONS to ever air, Homer (Dan Castellaneta) tries to earn extra money to buy Christmas presents for the family, and everything he does goes wrong. Fortunately, he is rescued by Santa’s Little Helper. This special originally aired on December 18, 1989.”
Additionally, a new SIMPSONS holiday episode—”’Tis the 30th Season”—will air on Sunday, December 9, with guest star Jane Lynch.
