About Last Night…SUPERSTORE, SUPERNATURAL, MURPHY BROWN, and More
December 14, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!
SUPERSTORE: Aww, the show is already in January. (The series will be off the air until March, which is why they’re a little ahead of us.)
I’m really curious how the show handles its employees’ ambitions as the series progresses. Obviously Amy has been there for a while, but it makes sense she’d want to move up—which would almost certainly take her out of this particular Cloud 9. THE OFFICE is an easy parallel to point to, and they managed to mostly put off the issue until the final years.
SUPERNATURAL: I’m both frustrated and relieved that Michael!Dean is back. On one hand, the arc was way too freaking short the first time. On the other hand, it felt like a cheat to just simply have Michael jump back into Dean again at that moment. And almost certainly Dean will be back to himself by episode 300 (But Castiel telling Jack that dying is “something of a rite of passage around here” was hilariously self-aware.)
MOM: Uh, now I have so many questions about Wendy’s family!
MURPHY BROWN: Given how dark the show has gone, I’m worried to see what happens to Avery abroad. Like, I don’t think they’ll flat-out kill him off—that feels too dark—but it feels unlikely something bad won’t happen.
