About Last Night…THE VOICE and AMERICA’S GOT TALENT
December 18, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Monday’s TV!
THE VOICE: I think Kennedy should win this season. I’m a bit less certain she will win. Her “Confident” was the closest it felt like anyone had to a hugely breakout moment during the night…but it also felt like it didn’t really properly showcase her voice. (As of Monday night, Kennedy is also the only finalist to not be in the top 10 of the iTunes chart.)
It’s been a weird season. In a perfect world, only Kennedy and Chevel would have been in the finals from the actual group. (And I would have added Sarah and Makenzie, too.) Chris has been decent, but feels really safe. Kirk? Respectfully, I don’t get it. He’s struggled through most of his songs—including “I Won’t Let Go,” which is a song I love—but given this crazy season, I wouldn’t be surprised if he won.
AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: The “holiday” special was fun and, in many ways, the perfect antidote to THE VOICE finale. While the singing competition was at its most-stressful point of the season AGT was simply just showcasing the best of the best. (In some ways, it was a prequel to the upcoming CHAMPS season, though that will be an actual competition.)
