CHICAGO MED Showrunners Pick Their Favorite Storylines of 2018
December 26, 2018 by Marisa Roffman
CHICAGO MED had a big year as it joined a newly-formed ONE CHICAGO block on NBC, said hello/goodbye to some faces, and expanded the emergency department.
But what were showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider most proud they were able to pull off in 2018?
“The entire storyline with Will and Ray Burke,” Schneider says. “It was a different kind of storyline for us, but we were able to ground it in medicine. It was very exciting and really impacted—and will impact—his relationship with Natalie.”
“We liked all the different sides in that story and all the different issues it brought up,” adds Frolov. “And how it just came at Will from different directions. It was fun to develop it from that little moment where he decided to treat Ray so he could get the reception hall. From that, all of this!”
The duo also pointed to a few other ongoing plots. “The whole story between Connor and Ava and the hybrid room and Cornelius,” Schneider says. “That’s an ongoing [arc].”
Adds Frolov: “And we loved the Emily stuff!”
