BROOKLYN NINE-NINE Season 6 Premiere Post-Mortem: Dan Goor and Andy Samberg on the Crowded Honeymoon

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE’s Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) got to have a baller honeymoon in Mexico—thanks to wedding insurance and Gina’s (Chelsea Peretti) recommendation (referral code “Gina30”!)—but it wasn’t exactly the romantic getaway they were expecting: Holt (Andre Braugher), who was reeling from being passed over for a big promotion, was playing hooky at the resort.

The normally stoic captain—donned in novelty shirts because he didn’t bring a suitcase—was extraordinarily depressed. The newlyweds tried to cheer him up, even going as far to invite him to their couple-centric questions. But all it did was convince Holt to quit the force.

The duo pulled out all the stops to keep him from making a mistake, including tying him to their bed, and eventually got through to him.

Of course, a boss tagging along on a honeymoon isn’t a traditional move. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE boss Dan Goor and star Samberg talk about playing with the unconventional storyline…
