THE ROOKIE: Alexi Hawley Teases the Drama’s Valentine’s Day Hour

It’s Valentine’s Day on the Tuesday, February 12 episode of ABC’s THE ROOKIE, and love is in the air for the officers…kind of.

“It was really fun to open up that avenue of the show a little bit more,” series creator Alexi Hawley teases. “To get Lopez involved with Shawn Ashmore’s character. To go farther down the road with Tim and Isabel and where they are now; show the audience that.”

The episode also starts a romantic storyline for Jackson (Titus Makin Jr. )…kind of. “[His love interest has] been in an episode before, but not in that capacity,” Hawley previews. As for Nathan Fillion’s Nolan—who had previously been off-on with Lucy (Melissa O’Neil )—his love life “gets a bit complicated.”

“But it was fun,” he continues. “We’re playing with all the different ways that love in the world of cops and robbers plays out.”
