Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

MASTERCHEF JUNIOR: Admittedly, I was worried the fish task would be way too gross to watch, but it was bearable.

What would the kids have even MADE if they had to use pig snouts, intestines, and organ meat? Very relieved they had to use citrus for the final challenge, even though a few of the kids were in over their head. It’s honestly so lovely how supportive they all are toward each other. (I may continue to say that nearly every week. I’m all for any joy this show brings.)

SPLITTING UP TOGETHER: Was…naming Annie a long-con just to use “We Got Annie” when Lena finally got some time for Martin with his daughter? If so, that was an excellent plan.

(And oh my God, that little apple hat for Annie was adorable and cheesy.)

THE ROOKIE: Uh, that was a very, very, very big earthquake. I know more realistic/smaller-scale earthquakes aren’t as fun to show on TV, but I wonder if there will be widespread consequences for it. 

I’m also glad the show didn’t totally brush off Andersen’s death; it should continue to impact the team for a good amount of time.

Chen’s storyline with her father was really sad. She’s busting her butt, and it’s understandable why her father is having difficulty with it…but she also needs that support.

THE VILLAGE: I appreciate that the second episode didn’t feel as twist-y as the first hour. Yes, Nick had an idea about his daughter with Sarah long before she told him the truth, but it was also well after she was born. It just felt like the characters were allowed to exist and interact, and I appreciated that.

Sarah and Katie are also lovely, and I hope we don’t lose that relationship when she realized Nick is her dad.

Ava’s video for her son was so bittersweet; I hope they’re able to raise the money for her bond soon.
