JANE THE VIRGIN Post-Mortem: Brett Dier on His Character Twist

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the JANE THE VIRGIN season 5 premiere.]

In a twist straight out of a telenovela, JANE THE VIRGIN’s Michael (Brett Dier) is indeed alive…he just has amnesia. (Naturally, Rose was behind the faking of Michael’s death.)

The opening moments of the season premiered that the man Jane (Gina Rodriguez) knew as Michael now goes by Jason (as in Borne), and has been living in Montana. He didn’t pursue his past any further because he was worried he might be a bad guy—but Jane assured her husband he was one of the good guys.

But Jason is a very different man than the Michael Jane married. “It was a very creative experience for me as an actor,” Dier explains in the video below of crafting Jason. “I was very excited to do this. It was the most fun I had on the show.”
