The CW Planning Tribute Specials for ARROW, SUPERNATURAL
August 4, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
The CW is saying goodbye to ARROW and SUPERNATURAL with special tribute episodes, network president Mark Pedowitz revealed.
“We thought that the tribute special that appeared on JANE [THE VIRGIN] this year was well-done,” he told reporters after his executive session at the TCA. “We’re planning tribute specials for ARROW, as well as SUPERNATURAL.”
Still up in the air is whether THE 100, which was just announced as ending with its upcoming seventh season. But while JANE got a special episode and CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND had its concert wrap-up, not every show has the same pattern. “For IZOMBIE, we didn’t do a tribute special, but we let [creator] Rob [Thomas] end it the way he wished to end it,” Pedowitz said. “I think you look at each special differently. We think those tribute specials work for fans. It gives you a sense of nostalgia…we all got older! It’s a weird way to watch people age. It’s funny watching [SUPERNATURAL stars] Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] 15 years ago, watching [ARROW star] Stephen [Amell] seven years ago. It’s like, oh my God, time has [flown].”
