Mark-Paul Gosselaar Offers a PITCH Update: ‘It’s Pretty Dead’
August 5, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
Earlier this year, reports came out that PITCH—the short-lived, but great Fox baseball drama—was in contention for a revival.
Creator Dan Fogelman, who was being wooed for an overall contract, made his desire to bring the show back well known; he also re-signed with what was formerly known as 20th Century Fox, which paved the way for it to actually come to fruition. But it appears the comeback has hit a snag.
“I think, at the moment, it is pretty dead,” Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who played catcher Mike Lawson) told reporters after a panel for his new show, MIXED-ISH.
The 2016 one-season series followed pitcher Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury) as she navigated being the first female MLB player and dealing with the ups and downs of being a trailblazer.
Gosselaar, who was vocal about wanting to return to the series, acknowledged his own disappointment with the twist.
“I hate to say [that],” he said. “I was even growing out my beard. It was right before THE PASSAGE’s possible pickup, I was getting ready for PITCH. But at this moment, it’s possibly on hold indefinitely.”
